phoenix
I got this piece yesterday down about 6" and until I cleaned it I was 99% sure it was another bird shot. Over the years I have been surprised how many of my bird shot have turned out to be gold. ?

Goldseeker5000
Did the thick patena layer cause the signal to be some what weak or iffy? Some of the gold at a region I hunt has a calcium or hard clay build up that is cream to orangish cream color and often causes the gold to be hard to get a signal on. It kind of masks it. When I detected it, it sounded deep and I had no idea of it`s size but as I got closer to it, it sounded like the hundreds of birdshot I have dug.
