Thats cuz guys like you and Tom got there before me ? You know its interesting but I have found more coins in old townsites/resorts etc then I do at old single home sites..even though the old townsites were pounded long before I got there they did not get all the coins presumably due to the larger number of targets at these sites...and anyone that could afford to go to a resort or hotel for a week could afford to loose a few coins...This little spot is not on any maps. I found it while hiking around to and from areas...just a little glass laying around thats it and of course lots of nails. But yea no coins so maybe someone got there before I did. strick

The ground you were hunting looked incredibly dry, looked some hard digging to get all those targets. Thanks...the ground there has lots of fissures/cracks that go down 7-10 inches due to the drought we have been in but despite that it is soft down to about 4 inches as we have had some rain lately. But yes I use a pick to dig targets being careful to cut wide margins. You will start to see more guys posting relics here in California now that the ground has softened up a little. The Avocado trees have taken about 7 years to get where they are now but are producing very well. strick

The notch is for the box lid. Unusual! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patch_box_(firearms) 2

CPT_GhostLight
Great hunt, strick! Congrats on the silver thimble and rifle buttplate. Looks like a nice property, it's a shame to lose that. Maybe the new owner will allow you to keep hunting!

Calmark
Its sad to hear you'll soon lose that site. Its a head-scratcher where all the coins are, or aren't at that place. Nice score on the silver thimble, nonetheless!
