Black Antenna Wire

Recommended Posts

A couple of weeks ago I saw a YouTube video where a new black antenna wire was shown. I couldn't find any information online so I contacted XP. They told me that the black antenna is already available in their factory and all distributors can order them:

- D2-GEN-E0-001 - DEUS II Aerial Antenna with 115cm Cable

- D2-GEN-E0-002 - DEUS II Aerial Antenna with 250cm Cable

- D2-GEN-E0-003 - DEUS II Aerial Antenna with 65cm Cable

I couldn't find this information anywhere here on this forum so I thought I'd share it.

Serious Detecting in the US has the 115cm cable kit (shorter than the stock 250cm D2 one) but it's not the black one.

Out of likes but thanks for the heads-up.

Ordered. On my rig I had to stuff half the cable in the upper and the other half in the lower 🤣 nothing quite so elegant as others.

115 cm is just a tad over 45 inches.

I think that would work for my WS6 Master rig, although it may be close, but I already ordered some RG-179 cable. It's only $17 (USD) and 10 Meters (32.8 ft) so I'll have plenty to make a few different lengths to use for my permanent internal shaft installations on my WS6 Master and regular D2 rigs.

And thanks for your tips on making that, Carolina! 😎

Here's the wire I used:

7.99 for about 10 feet. Just strip the outer insulation and the shield, shrink tube on the coil end.

I'll probably zip tie it to the side of the bump so I can see the charging light.

BTW right after I jumped on that XP wire, I looked and it was sold out. Hope you got one Cap'n! 😵

I did not get one, but I got the roll of wire, so I'll just make my own. Your black setup looks great. Where did you poke the wire through on the remote end exactly?

I had to drill a 1/4" or less hole in the Detecting Doodads locking device (big enough for the wire), exactly where the wire would pass through the shaft. Pretty much Kentucky windage. I bent the wire backward, put the puck holder on and locked it, brought the wire around the side and stuffed it through that front slot so it would be under the puck. I didn't shrink wrap that end, just removed 31mm of outer insulation and cut the shield off. Left the inner insulation on. 👍 less is more there.

This rig was tested in brackish water up to the center camlock, worked perfectly. 🙂 I did put a second zip tie on it and moved a bit it to the side of the bump so I could see the charging light.20230214_185140.thumb.jpg.5a09a219dc262f0161e07b6a2cfe149c.jpg

3d printed stuff tends to melt when you drill it, you may have to ream the hole a couple of times after the plastic cools.

Antenna wire arrived, I think it may be for the Deus 1. 20230217_085401.thumb.jpg.fff08ba0a89f237d954b551ff8411875.jpg

It's much thinner than the D2 coax, appears to be copper shielded (not that it matters), and is fully half the length. I comes with 3 sticky thingies and 3 spare bands. Here's the D2 spare I have:20230217_085351.thumb.jpg.62f8f539bd067f81e99cb6cf80ad765e.jpg

And here's the side by side.20230217_085645.thumb.jpg.84bc8d02e499f91005daeaee145062ec.jpg

I like the length, but think this is a D1 accessory. Going to try it. 👍
