Two In The Hole - Again! Coins, Relics (update)

I've been staying home for a few days, but now I'm back like a freight train. ๐Ÿ˜€

Invited Chase down today to hunt a new permission, an old house that was probably built in the late 1800's, a permission I got hunting another farm, the farmer was renting that one and working on it, he invited me to hunt his family land. His grandfather built the house, and his Dad was born there. At least 3 generations of very nice people.20230215_083556.thumb.jpg.1a022d173f71f73e890acba290df3883.jpg

Tried to make friends with kitty but he wasn't having it. ๐Ÿ˜€20230215_092838.thumb.jpg.66224f40823eb63bc9306ebe7e1ad32c.jpg

Hacked around the house a bit, found mostly junk and a few wheats. I did get an old brass AAA plate (Maryland) s-l500(1).jpg.de5c69b5b810c6bf26a499a865d516b9.jpgand this:20230215_103603.thumb.jpg.ceb943635feaf1deb8777d37eb2d73ed.jpg

1954 silver Washington. Gave both of them to the family. I didn't photograph the AAA badge I dug but it looked like the one above.

Dad, son and his wife were there, and they were excited and grateful for the badge and coin. The father told me that he lost a gold ring a long time ago and never found it, he showed me where.

Here's my trash from that farm:20230215_191655.thumb.jpg.c220805d6a3c44c2b85aa6fda48fccc4.jpg

Yeah, quite a bit. ๐Ÿ˜ต First time junk. I did keep the milk glass butt cream jar. ๐Ÿคฃ

We looked around a bit more, and decided to go to some older places, they were kinda busy there. Went to one, found next to nothing, so we went to the old farm with the cellar hole again. I'll go back to the first farm myself soon.20230215_150351.thumb.jpg.26d3708d330c6bc0d2970d06415996af.jpg

It cleared up and got warm, we had walked across the huge field looking for random stuff, I didn't get anything but I think Chase did. Got here, and I got another big surprise, my second here in a week.20230215_200257.thumb.jpg.7bc4b4aff0792b0f329d7c81715788f3.jpg

My second "slick" SLQ, not a heck of a lot of detail on the back and no date:20230215_200247.thumb.jpg.8063114df58c0075260ff6fc95832ee1.jpg

And right next to it I got another 94:20230215_200223.thumb.jpg.e43d685dbbf2661f4edb49c70152071b.jpg

Nice 1941 Washington quarter, my 3d silver today!20230215_200231.thumb.jpg.06103a87d85677f92983a7ff55fbf13b.jpg

Here's the total take:20230215_194526.thumb.jpg.7c803225c071b596118aaca90cde88f2.jpg

I got 2 memorials, 8 wheats, a clad dime, and my first but toasted shield nickel:20230215_195928.thumb.jpg.4819734b1ebf9e172115eb65bce28e3a.jpg

The back doesn't look much better:20230215_195854.thumb.jpg.f465d2bb40cea033315f23b5211a514c.jpg

It was a solid 58, I had no idea what it was until I got home.

Trash was pretty horrendous here as well, lots of car parts. ๐Ÿ˜ต Oh well.

Chase got some great stuff too, always fun to have him along.ย

Nice haul! I love finding SLQ's. Such a nice design and it looks like a Denver mint mark as well. I don't know if they still make a silver date restorer like the nickle date restorer we use on Buffalo Nickles, but I remember using one a long time ago. It brings the date up, but not as easily as the nickel version does. Great hunt.

Thanks! Try as I might I can't see the "D" with a loupe, but it sure looks like it in the photo ๐Ÿ˜€ I'll have to count but my silver count for this year is much higher.

I think I have some of that nickel stuff around, never used it. Wish I could get a date from the shield nickel too. ๐Ÿ˜ต

One thing I can't figure out is what the heck this thing is. ๐Ÿค”20230215_200424.thumb.jpg.003dbdd4b6b13807f39349bcba845a0f.jpg

It's brass, heavy, and totally beyond me.ย
