  2. Nice cover excuse but the point is it should be announced when ready, not before. I like Garrett also but I also believe in telling companies when I think something they are doing is counterproductive, and I think companies are hurting themselves with this practice. The is a period of initial "giddyism" around a new release and people are excited and hot to buy. Wait too long and you not only lose that feeling, but start to create bad feelings. That is poor marketing. I'm not just opinionating, I'm a professional marketer. And since I do actually care, I'm drafting a email to the CEO and VP of Marketing with my thoughts on all this to follow up on the phone call I already made. I have found companies value me more for telling them when I think they are in error than telling them what a great job they are doing. They get plenty of that. The current situation could be alleviated by simply telling us more. Show a picture. Give a couple details. Keep the information coming. It's the noise followed by silence that hurts more than anything.
  3. I use the 9.5x6 coil on my Legend almost exclusively, and it hits deep for its size. Sure, there's a minor loss of depth on coin sized targets compared to an 11" round coil, but to me, the major advantages of an elliptical coil of around that size, far outweigh the slight depth loss In my tests, the 11" round coil hits about 1.5" to 2" deeper than the 9.5x6 on a dime lying flat. On a dime on edge, or similar sized targets, the smaller coil could match the depth of the 11" due to the tighter field of the smaller coil. When taking into account EMI and ground noise, the smaller coil can often be run at a higher sensitivity level than the 11" round coil, thus negating the particular depth advantage of the 11" coil. The FindX models, do have two other coils available for it. They are a 9.5x6 and a 13.5x12.5. I too would have liked to have seen an option to purchase the detector with a different coil size. Then again, I would like to see that option on all detectors.
  4. Newby to the Manticore, been detecting 12 years using CTX, Equinox 800, Vanquish 540, & Excall for diving. I am wondering what settings you are finding most helpful looking for silver in trashy northern midwest park sites. I used it yesterday using out of the box settings which worked, located several iffy signals some payed off. Running sensitivity between 19-30, had lots of 98 numbers no matter the sensitivity didn't find silver. Dug a few deep nails and a bolt with washers all were deep targets. Not used of digging below my initial plug so my pinpointer would see the targets. I believe finding deep and overlooked silver targets will appear soon... Appreciate any helpful tips and settings.
  5. Thanks for the offer Joe (and Hugh) but I have the 5x8 coil. It's not worth your time/money or mine to be doing any mailing back and forth. Since I consider the 5x8 to be my primary coil this is not a big deal to me, and was only documenting it all on this thread so others might learn from it.

  7. Getting ready for the new mining season. Just bought this nice mid size Deere 210.
  8. Personally, I think the coil-lockout trend is a mistake. You can’t move up or down because that’s a whole new set of coils. The coil supply lags the release. Coil compatibility puts a big lock on many segments. Encourage third-party manufacturers because that increases your bandwidth. I’m taking a step backwards because the coils I want to test aren’t there. I can’t try a different model variation if I have to buy a new set of coils. If the coils I think I need to use do the job, then goodbye to Minelab, Nokta and XP.
  9. That message from Nokta to revert to 1.13 is weird. I am just going to stay with 1.14 Beta until the final version comes out. 1.14 Beta works just fine on my Legends.
  10. Steve, If customer service keeps dragging their feet on the 11 inch coil issue, PM me your address and I will loan you my 11 inch coil. I too keep a copy of any and all reciepts and registrations as I don't trust their cloud storage. LOL Joe
  11. Yeah I figured a properly used 5x8 coil would be deadly on the Manticore ,which is why I refused to get one until they were available. Waited a year for something that should have been available on day one.
  12. You'll solve the 11" bug hopefully soon, meanwhile try to put the M8 in an hard pounded place and wait for a surprise 🫢... This happened to me again today... I'm speechless
  13. Today
  14. They were $3999 before they were "discontinued" - $596 price increase? Ouch.
  15. Got an email confirming my warranty request this morning. They could not find my registration information in their system, even though I had provided the serial number and date I registered it online (3/5/24). Process stalled until I prove I'm under warranty. Luckily I kept a copy of the email confirming my registration so have sent a copy back to them. I also pointed out the detectors have only been made for a year and the warranty is three years. Kind of silly to have to register products if they can't find the information when you need it. So do what I did and keep copies of everything. I prefer online registrations as you get a confirmation. If you mail in the warranty card.... just cross your fingers it does not get "lost."
  16. According to Nokta's website optional and smaller search coils are available for the FINDX and FINDX PRO metal detectors. Go to Nokta's website and look at their various search coil options. Of course buying an optional search coil would add to the price of these detectors. I would like to see Nokta offer the buyer the choice to select which search coil comes with these detectors or at least offer two or three variations even if the price changes slightly. I would love to be able to order one with Nokta's Waterproof DD Search Coil - 24x15 cm / 9.5"x6" (SX24).

  18. As for me, payed the full price with a slight discount on the M8 cause I've personally taken both at the dealer's new shop. I don't mind the highway and gas price against a subtle bargain but I mind that in Europe it seems we'll not benefit of this price discount. I tell You, I'm maybe one of the few that will buy another Manti tomorrow for the right price...🫢
  19. Nice link. Having run a business it does not work like that. I ordered a bunch of stuff on a guess thinking it would sell. Then the day came where I went “oh ####, I ###### up and ordered too many. What to do? Ok guys, let’s have a sale. Let’s see, Sunday is coming up…. We will call it the Super Sunday Sale! We need to blow these things out. What price will work? $200 off. Maybe. $300? Ah, screw it, I’m busy and need these things out of here, need some cash for a new forklift I want to buy. Let’s bite the bullet and go $500 off and get these things gone! The basic flaw of economics is stated in the first paragraph of the link “In neoclassical economics, which is currently the mainstream approach to microeconomics, the firm is assumed to be a "rational agent"” Rational agents - ha! The business world is made up of human beings and has all types. As humans mistakes are regularly made. Petty politics is rampant in any large organization. Important decisions get made with a hangover from last night. Big egos everywhere trying to make a mark with a wild gamble. Rational? Let me hold up Elon Musk as exhibit A. Brilliant? No doubt. Rational? Depends on the moment and it has been my observation that genius is the tiniest step away from madness. No, people try hard, but trying to reduce people or companies to equations based on an assumption they act rationally is an exercise doomed to failure. Emotion and human frailty are a large part of the equation.
  20. Hi I have checked the historical google earth map from 1984, appeared it has been there since then. @GotAU?
  21. Aha… I made the “mistake” of going to their Product Manual & Guides page which only links to the old manual. The newer manual is only available via the Manticore product page. Thanks guys for the pointy finger! Instead now I’ll ask why they don’t update their Product Manual & Guides page.
  22. I have question for Phrunt, have you used 12"NF Z Search? Are the equivalent X coils really noticallby better, not the CC just the spirals?
  23. There is no way my sister will want to purchase this detector if she has to do a DIY fix out of the box. She has been detecting daily since the 80's at the beach in Southern California. She doesn't dive anymore, but she's in the water up to her waist.
  24. I believe the delay is probably about releasing a product that is as perfect as it can be. They (Garrett) are trying to avoid releasing a product with defects, and the costly procedure of shipping costs to repairs/damage control. There is often a conflict between engineering and sales. Sales want the product released ASAP vs. engineering arguing that the product is not quite ready. If it is a good product, it will sell, regardless of the current mood about it not being released on Garrett's anniversary and hype, followed by complete silence. It will be released when it is ready!
