  1. You can buy counterfeit detectors all day long. Minelab and First Texas have been hit particularly hard simply because their machines have been very popular with gold prospectors in Africa. Most counterfeits are blocked from sale in the U.S. but are readily available elsewhere. Buyer beware. Any brand new detectors being sold substantially below the Minimum Advertised Price that manufacturers enforce should be immediately suspect. "Too good to be true" is your best form of protection.
  2. The inside of my head most often resembles a bag of cats. Metal detecting for me is a form of meditation when I get into "the zone" and wonderfully relaxing. I enter the flow where time ceases to exist. Metal detecting can be very good for people who need constant low level exercise (recovering from heart attack, for instance) and for calming minds that are otherwise anything but calm.
  3. Hi Merton, In order for there to be discussion here there has to be a first thread. Apparently you are the first gold prospector with an interest in this machine enough to post about it here, so there you go. It would be nice to see you posting again. ? FYI you can also say that about every Minelab BBS, FBS and Multi-IQ machine. Be prepared for a detector that pushes VLF limits but does not replace a PI detector.
  4. Since you've been gone Merton there have been a lot of forum additions. The Tarsacci is aimed primarily at beach hunters with possible secondary uses for relic detecting. It has therefore been under discussion for some time on the Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons Forum as Northeast has linked to above. Using the forum search function would have located the threads immediately so do use search when looking for things. If you want to give the Tarsacci a go as a prospecting detecting Merton I am sure there are many that would be all ears. I added the Tarsacci MDT 8000 to the Metal Detector Database With Reviews on Dec 30th. 5. If somebody hung out on the White's forum and kept speaking negatively about a White's model I would at some point remind them that doing such a thing becomes trolling at some point. Looks like time for your reminder as regards the Orx Chuck. We get it - you think it is priced too high for what it offers. They are not going to lower the price just for you so may as well get over that part.

  22. ...is that you can chest or hip mount the control box using the included pouch. The BeachHunter TDI is already the lightest weight waterproof ground balancing pulse induction (GBPI) detector on the market at 5.2 lbs. It is also the only GBPI model that comes ready to hip or chest mount. If you chest or hip mount the control box all you are swinging is the rod and coil at about 2 lbs. Nice! Note that the coil on the BeachHunter TDI is hardwired to the control box. Use care not to bend and stress the connection point to the control box as it could lead to premature failure of the coil cable. 23. Looks like Tom is leaving White’s so best contact the service department directly.
