  1. XP just put up a page answering all sorts of miscellaneous questions about the new XP Orx - enjoy! http://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/blog-detection/en/technical/orx-help/
  2. And there is more! Lanny has one of the longest active threads created on the related forums due to his amazing story telling skills. And I do believe he coined the term "sassy gold"! Bedrock and Gold: The mysteries . . . Always great to hear from you Lanny!!
  3. Why go look when we can watch here! YouTube links pasted into the forum appear....
  4. I post these Facebook embeds from time to time. If you are not a Facebook user you may or may not see the photos.
  5. I know what you were up to! You want to know how crazy it is? If JP was working on something he would never give me a hint. And I am the same way. These things are hermetic lock boxes and there is no cross talk allowed or even desired really. I do invite you to try your best but don't be disappointed if it just gets ignored.
  6. I wish you lots of luck and good times on your upcoming adventure Mitchel. For what it is worth I have never regretted keeping a daily journal and taking a ton of photos on trips like this. It’s easy to get “too busy” but memories fade and for me recording things has been a real blessing. Be safe and have fun!
  7. You stated perfectly how I feel when a machine is too quiet. There are “well behaved” detectors like that old mare you give the kids to ride. Equinox is more mustang, hard to break and full of spirit! I like to give mine free rein to run wild. I do believe some issues regarding Equinox revolve around it being a high performance detector disguised as a mid-range machine. Beginners can easily get in over their heads if they start messing with things too quickly. It’s good though because it leaves a lot of room to grow for those who stick with it. People who use more control limited machines starting out usually soon outgrow them.
  8. Just life. JP has a business to run and kids at that magic age. We all wish we could just be free spirits out prospecting all the time. Life makes that possible sometimes and at other times we get so busy... and then we usually get a break when we get older but then the aches and pains start! Been there done that and so I was actually just being sympathetic with that mention.
  9. I figured requiring ten posts before you even get to post an ad would make too much work. This clown apparently copied stuff from other forums and posted here as his, that made him look real when it was just copy/paste other people’s content. I just want people to be able to get access to some free advertising to swap gear but these idiots try to horn in. Luckily the volume in the classifieds is low enough I can watch each new add for signs of trouble. There are good protections people should always use. I always use PayPal and even then only to confirmed addresses, etc. the fees are trivial to getting ripped off just once. I like eBay for similar reasons. I lean into the protections while most people seem fixated on avoiding fees. The bottom line is I try but it really is a “buyer beware” thing and people have to be cautious in this day and age online. And I have no way to block a longtime member suddenly going off the rails on us as recently happened. Still no idea what was up with that but in the end it was another “family and friends” thing between people who were neither family nor friends. May as well just mail cash and cross your fingers!
  10. Hmmm, you pulled the ad without responding to my perceived and possibly incorrect issues. Maybe I offended you and if so I am sorry but if that is too much for you to bear it’s ok by me. I am taking the lack of response as confirmation and pushing the ban button. Assuming at this point you are a scammer I have to say your command of English and your ability to mirror conversations is getting pretty sophisticated. Good to know... Thanks!
  11. Impressive posts, and it’s obvious you know your stuff Jeff. Do to the unique nature of the Equinox and how different it is than any other machines used for nugget detecting.... let’s just say I have not been anxious to have lots of people piling on thinking it’s an easy nugget detector. However, if you are the sort of person who is at your level I think you will find out why I use the Equinox now as my go to VLF nugget hunter. It’s something I think users need to grow into organically and not get forced onto them. That’s about all I want to say about that though... probably should have kept my mouth shut. You did just what I do. Dig everything for awhile, observe, adjust. That in effect is my entire gig in one line. Anyway, love the posts. It’s nice to see the Equinox from other perspectives without me polluting the atmosphere in advance with my own opinions on this particular subject. The Equinox is deceptively simple but after a couple years use I am still growing into it. The machine has a lot a depth from a learning point of view that people will never capture just giving the machine a spin. It’s another reason along with lack of time that explains why I have ditched everything else to concentrate on Equinox. I don’t need anything else because I still have not really discovered the true limits and possibilities of this technology. And just a reminder... this is first gen. All the effort I pour into learning the machine and it’s unique operating properties (there really is nothing just like it) will be rewarded in spades whenever we see the next gen. Historically Minelabs v2 versions are very refined versions of v1. Equinox has not hit the limits yet of where we can go with Multi-IQ. Great posts, again, thanks! Edit for a tip... when the going gets rough don’t forget the other modes. I have been able to get Equinox to do anything I want by ignoring mode names. Park is not just for parks, Beach is not just for beaches, etc. As you can tell I am still pretty infatuated with the Equinox. Thanks Minelab! ?
  12. swamp, it’s about offering opinions and advice, and not everyone need agree with you. You offer your options, others offer theirs, let the viewer decide. There is no need to get attached to our advice or comments and then have to defend them. I gave that all up personally (edit - still working on that!). I just offer whatever I have to offer, but I am not going to defend or argue. You are right, it’s a deep subject and one I may dive into as this thread progresses. It’s actually a balancing act for reasons you just described. Since the poster is doing well already it seems to me an opportunity to tweak the operation perhaps. Or not. But either way it’s no big deal. Just me dropping by sharing chill pills... I got a 55 gallon drum of them and happy to share! I appreciate your contributions ?
  13. Really great gold, thanks for posting the pic. I guess maybe the GPZ does work
  14. Hi Nate, Welcome to the forum but slow down. There is no need to email. We are already communicating. I only answer questions via the forum so that all may learn from the answers. You may have an issue, but it is not an emergency. Well at least not for me. I did not sell you the detector. Make the dealer EARN his money by providing you the dealer support you paid for. If you bought used you may have bought somebody’s else’s problem. You might want to take that up with them. First off, have you done a factory reset? And what mode are you using? The main problem for me is you are talking about several issues at once and mixing them up with a lack of detail as to your settings. The thread you posted on was an old one dealing with an issue that is already in the past... wobbly rods. So I moved your post here for better visibility and input from forum members. Relax. Worst case is it needs a trip to service. That’s why warranties exist. Let’s make sure there really is an issue first before doing that.
  15. I disagree with his result or at least his Gold Kruzer may have an issue mine lacks. Whatever though, sounds like you have a solution that’s going to work for you so all is good.
  16. Hi JP, That’s really great that you get some quality father / son time when you can because as you noted life has a way of really grabbing us in our twenties. Nice to see a post from you also since I know you are an incredibly busy man these days. Best wishes.... Steve H
  17. Hi Rods, Disclosure Time. You joined the forum on Jan 22 and have made exactly 10 posts, just sufficient for placing this ad. Interesting use of words, and an IP address originating in Africa. I just had a longer term forum member from the U.S. burn a few folks so I am hyper vigilance mode and you just tripped my triggers. No offense, but I am advising long time forum members to be extra cautious on this one.
  18. I know it can find gold. People, the Deus coils and Orx coils ARE the detector. They are the same detector except for misc settings. What one will do the other will do as far as performance as long as the setup is identical. So much so that I feel like I have used this machine already - as far as I am concerned it’s just a repackage of a Deus HF coil, nothing more, nothing less. Sure, it will find gold. In my opinion however most serious prospectors are already using machines that are as good or more powerful so not many prospectors are looking at the Orx or are even interested in it. So just my opinion but it will end up as another coin and relic machine option with a few prospectors perhaps giving it a go. That’s not to say the machine is a failure. Far from it. I think it is going to sell just fine. Just not so much at the initial supposed target market. I could of course be wrong and the Orx will take the prospecting world by storm. Check back in a year and we will see how that went.
  19. I don’t think the Orx is gong to have much impact in the gold prospecting world but it looks like it’s going to be a popular option for general purpose detecting. I basically like what I see. It’s funny how it’s tempting to jump on a new model when I don’t actually need one.
  20. Two videos.... gardansolyn Published on Jan 7, 2019 The ORX metal detector from XP is an easy to use machine which can locate targets at impressive depths. Deep coins and artefacts can not hide from this machine as this video demonstrates. The MI-6 pinpointer compliments the ORX very well it saves a lot of time when location deep targets. and.... gardansolyn Published on Jan 28, 2019 XP ORX top tips - How to get the very best out of your metal detector. This video shows some top tips which may help to enhance depth and find those deep coins. Follow Gary in the field digging some live targets and see how this metal detector performs.
  21. The story goes into it but short answer 3.74 ounces. It is a gold/quartz specimen showing a lumpy dendritic growth pattern. It is as it eroded directly from the original source and is not a mass of small nuggets that have conglomerated together somehow. Moore Creek produced some spectacular specimen pieces but most frankly were best referred to as “rocks with gold in them”. It is a coincidence but I have been working on a photo gallery of my finds and it will include lots of close up photos of many Moore Creek nuggets and specimens. I got on it some time back and then got sidelined so it may be time to get that part of the website up and running.
  22. That’s a real beauty Keith! How big is it... hard to tell without reference. I sold most of my Moore Creek gold but I think I have a couple pieces left.
  23. Mark did a fabulous job. Since I am not worried about the frequency stuff what I learned is that the Noise Cancel numbers do exactly the opposite of what I would have assumed. Pushing noise cancel numbers lower pushes the frequency higher. Usually these shifts are trivial to performance, but in a “no-EMI” location you could set the Noise Cancel as low as possible to optimize a high frequency like 40 kHz and as high as possible to optimize the single low frequency options like 5 kHz. I doubt there is a measurable effect on performance but it might lend a psychological boost that does help at times.
