GPX 6000 - Emi Troubles - Some Data For Minelab?
afreakofnature replied to Northeast's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Could be, but man that is a $6000 dollar chance to take. I guess resale value ATM though would be enough to justify. I wish I could “see/hear” the problems people are having. From what I have “seen”, it sounds more like an SDC threshold which for me I have learned to “listen through” for repeatables. The EMI that I have experienced with the SDC sounds more like a constant wee ooo wee ooo wee ooo or the occasional distant lightning strike. Are the EMI troubles people are having anything like I have described? -
GPX 6000 - Emi Troubles - Some Data For Minelab?

For a detector that sounds so simple to use……..maybe it really is not so simple after all. -
GPX 6000 U.S. Owners Reports

Boy with it going crazy with airplanes I am thinking it might not work near some power lines. I have a nice patch that is close to some where i could hear a little emi trouble with both the Z and SDC. -
Rye Nevada Gold With Eq800 & 1st Test Of Gpx6000
afreakofnature replied to aerospace guy's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
10 x 5 is just as sensitive as the 6 but covers more area and has the nose to poke into places. Nice coil, its the only one currently on my Nox. Here is something interesting for you depth seekers. I missed a piece of gold with my Nox at a Hydro Pit because it was detecting a square nail 6” below the gold. My buddy with his GB2 detected the gold because it did not punch down as deep to hear the nail. Food for thought. -
A Holiday Weekend With The GPX 6000
afreakofnature replied to Lunk's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Right on Lunk! I think I even see a little quartz in that one gram piece! I’m looking forward to trying the 6k out on a patch that we have right now. Although we’re in different parts of the country those pictures look very similar to what we’re dealing with. I have had the Z, the Nox, and the SDC over this and my buddy a GB2. I’m really looking forward to seeing what I might’ve missed with the new tech. BTW nice new Avatar 😊 -
Starting from scratch with 8k: 6k - $6000 6k 17x13 coil - $600 Nox 800 - $850 Nox 10 x 5 coil $220 Nox 6” $200 Total: $7870 With that set up all your bases are covered in general situations.

First Minelab GPX 6000 Nuggets

Cmon Rob lets start hearing about some comparisons! You were in my boat on that vs the 7! We all want to know how deep will it go! 😊 -

What was the weight of the biggest nugget at 12 inches? Excellent day! Flys have gotten bad here to for some reason, not the norm at all. I also see that you are selling your SDC. Being that you’re a user of one, like I’ve been for a long time, are you finding that the threshold is similar to that or is it something completely different? It seems that on the videos that I have seen that the threshold seems very much like the SDC. Which is really squirrley and you’ll learn to listen through it. Did you ever try to just get rid of the threshold using that option on the 6000? I’m wondering if it might save some of the headache and constant noise canceling. -
Rechargeable " Canned Air " Blower

Reminds me of “Spaceballs” -
Oh that would be called a hillbilly diamond. I learned about those in North Carolina LOL. We actually had one made up. They pass off really easily and since quartz has a hardness of 7 it scratches glass to “fool” others LOL. Best part is they are way cheaper so if you scratch it up you can replace many times over before you ever reach the price of a diamond 🤣🤣

Finally A Big Nugget Caught On Film With The 6k
afreakofnature replied to afreakofnature's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Bigger nuggets maybe 6 inches down, but what I found interesting is the low/hi sound on most of them, not the “typical” hi/low. They never show the gold cleaned up so I’m kind of curious if these are slugs or spongy. Take it for what it’s worth. -
GPX 6000 - Tips, Tricks, Technical Questions

The only incentive you would get is knowledge and information that you did not have before performing any tests. All it would do is satisfy a curiosity you may or may not have. -
GPX 6000 - Tips, Tricks, Technical Questions

Youtube is just another information source just like DP, except with Youtube you get to watch for yourself to make your own determination, especially when you can see how people are performing the tests vs how you might do it differently. -
GPX 6000 - Tips, Tricks, Technical Questions
afreakofnature replied to Northeast's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I am just really surprised that nobody has done a true head to head comparison of the two. When the Z came out there were so many 5k vs 7k comparisons, but with the 6k nothing. Its almost as if people don’t want to compare in fear that their new toy is not up to par OR their $10,000 dollar machine is no longer as useful. We have all read the reviews and opinions, seen the star chart, etc. I am not the only one, even Rob wants to know! Africa and Australia have field testers because they have had the 6k for sometime now. I’ve only seen one video on YouTube which I posted earlier that actually performed a quick test that does give some data. Maybe I need to scour the Australian forums and see if there is any on them. I just find it odd and intriguing. I almost wonder if Minelab is behind it (conspiracy theory), because I have reached out to some of the Youtubers that have both machines and they say great idea and are will to give it a go and yet nothing. Now that some machines are rollin in here maybe some data will start rolling in. Otherwise when my buddy gets his (on the list well before me), we plan on atleast doing some basic testing. Probably will make a few Youtube dollars on that video 😂😂😂. -
I went down this road when I was a complete newbie and the Excalibar was my first detector. I thought I could save a bunch of money but in the end the amount of repairs that had to be done multiple times cost me the same as if I would have just bought new. Sorry to tell you that, but maybe it will save you the time and frustrations so you can just get out to the joys of detecting. But if you’re looking for a project go for it! Just be aware that you’re probably gonna spend more time fixing your machine and wondering if it’s working properly versus getting out and detecting.

Finally A Big Nugget Caught On Film With The 6k
afreakofnature replied to afreakofnature's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
If they don’t lock properly or the shaft wobbles I would send it in for warranty repair. They are then covered again. Wash, rinse and repeat until they get it right, but I thought that too with those locks like on the equinox. I replaced with steveg’s locks those might work once we see the machine. -
