  1. She did state that some of the changes were easy and a couple of others were not that easy is what I heard unless I miss understood what she was saying
  2. You would think Nokta/Macro would have fixed the issues if they are aware of the issues I went ahead and ordered one found a online store that still had a few with the free 9.5 x 5 inch coil so got one of them on the way also ordered the 2in1 pulse dive pin pointer could not find anyone that had a fisher F Pulse pin pointer in stock so went with the pulse dive unit
  3. can you tell me if i do purchase the simplex plus and experience the things I stated could i downgrade to the 2.77 if i decided to, I did notice Phrunt posted up the 2.77 version where he had saved it to his PC but will his save still work since it is not on the Nokta/Macro site any longer, also wander if the jumpy target IDs and chattiness might be due to running the sensitivity to high I know some of the detectors i have used if I tried to run full sensitivity they would get really chatty don't know if that could make target ID jumpy or not, also noticed some in some videos when using a pin pointer it would get chatty so the pin pointer thing makes me wander also
  4. So you never experienced any of the issues others stated, this is what is making me think twice on the purchase, is conflicting statements some say they never experienced any issues and others say the 2.78 update made the detector seem like it was hitting a wall and lost depth have not seen any post that said target IDs were jumpy or it got chatty, just the loss of depth, the hitting a wall thing I have no clue what they meant by that statement I am almost wandering if those that experienced the things I stated if it was older machines and not the ones that already had the 2.78 version pre installed
  5. Would like to know peoples opinion on the simplex plus with the 2.78 firmware I have been still debating getting one of these for my grandson for his birthday the only ones I can find new all have the 2.78 version, i have read several posts on other forums that once they upgraded to the 2.78 that it made the simplex plus seem like it was hitting a wall and seemed to loose depth has anyone experienced this I also read that a lot of users felt the 2.77 version was better than the 2.78 version would also like to know if I can downgrade the new Simplex Plus that already has the 2.78 firmware version down to the 2.77 if I decided to, since the 2.77 is not available on the Nokta/Macro website any longer I have never personally had a Simplex plus in my hands to say one way or the other as to which version is or was better or am i just over thinking this whole purchase what ever I am going to do I need to do it soon as my grandsons birthday is inching ever so close and I am getting headaches just thinking about whether to make this purchase the things we do for our grand kids LOL thanks for reading all opinions welcome
  6. thank you Mr Herschbach and Valens Legacy for the replies i am just happy to still be breathing (well kind of ) my Dr keeps telling me i need to get out and walk so i figure what better way to do it then metal detecting had to move in with my daughter because of everything that has gone on but they are having a small guest house built for me to live in on their property behind their main home, don't know what i would have done if it had not been for them
  7. It has been a rough almost three years for me phrunt things are starting to look up though thank God two months ago i almost met my maker but pulled through it I am still not breathing good though
  8. it has been over two years since I have been able to pick up a detector so you will have to forgive my stupidity on what they do its kind of like the detecting sites I am having to re learn where everything is
  9. Ok so they both do revert to last settings, I know I never set my sensitivity up that high on the GM1000 and never thought to put it to max before shutting down when I was finished for the day hunting if I ever get to go out again I will try it the next time
  10. Just wanted to say hi to everyone have not been on the forums much until recently due to family illnesses started to get back on about two months ago but ended up in the hospital myself due to the covid 19 (Not sure its permissible to even mention that demon on here) if it is not then please delete As I said i ended up almost meeting my maker because of it was not fun but I am alive and half way breathing i guess that's all that really matters I have a ton of reading to catch up on I did do a pre order on the new Nokta/Macro Legend and I am also in the market for a second machine for my grandson who keeps asking when him and I are going to go out again all i can do rite now is just short walks because of the fore mentioned as i have to drag a oxygen tank with me so it will only be hunts in a couple parks near by ended up having to move to the valley of AZ would like some opinions on detectors for my grandson have been reading up on the Simplex plus, Equinox 600, and the Vanquish for the grandson was also considering the XP ORX so if anyone has an opinion on any of those I would appreciate any input from those that have used them before things went sideways on me I was teaching my grandson how to use the Xterra 705 which he was picking up pretty good he will be 13 in a few months and I would really like to get him a detector he can grow into so please keep that in mind
  11. I have been away from the site for quite a while now and have been reading through some of the post started reading through this post phrunt turning the sensitivity all the way up on the vanquish before noise canceling is impossible to do, the same for the gold monster unless it stays on the last setting that you may have used not sure if the Vanquish reverts to the last setting you were on or not but on the vanquish and the GM 1000 the vary first thing either of those machines do upon power up is the noise cancel and then you are able to make the other adjustments that is the way I understand the start up procedure of the vanquish and the GM 1000 someone please correct me if what I state is not correct
  12. thanks for the responses have been giving this new Anfibio some thoughts and rather then spend 600 on a new machine when my X TERRA 705 is still in perfect working condition I just cannot seem to justify spending that much money when I could accomplish the same thing just by purchasing a coil for a third of the price or less so you are rite phrunt in your thoughts I just was not sure if there was that much more tech put into the Anfibio that it would make it worth the upgrade There has never been much on the forums about the NEL multi frequency coils for the X TERRA's other then minelab does not recommend them I do wish someone that has used one would chime in and let us know their experience with them also my fear has always been can they damage the control head or brains of the 705
  13. Thank you Mr H and phrunt I have heard those coils from NEL work pretty good but have never tried one because Minelab does not recommend them my biggest complaint with the 705 has always been having to change the coil to change the frequency other then that I do love my 705 this new Anfibio just peaked my interest as it just seems to be like the 705 with out having to change the coil I figured if you were supposed to use one coil on the 705 to utilize all three frequencies minelab would have built a coil for it or had coil tech to build one so I just never pursued purchasing one of those NEL coils
  14. Can someone explain to me what makes this new Anfibio different from a X TERRA 705 the 705 can run three different frequencies all be it you have to change coils to be able to run any of the three different frequencies it can run the Anfibio you push a button to change frequencies but with that being said I also know I can purchase a coil from a manufacturer that pretty much allows me to run one coil on the 705 and just by turning the 705 off and back on in a short time period it changes to one of the different frequencies that the 705 can run in in other words one single coil will run 3 KHz,7.5 KHz,and 18.75 KHz all done with just one coil so can someone please explain how the Anfibio is any different from the X TERRA 705 and not trying to start a bashing war here just trying to understand how the Anfibio is much different from the 705.
  15. Great thread Going to add my 2 cents worth the first thing for me is when I first got into detecting I was a coin hunter and I found many coins including for me what most would consider a once in a life time find and I have stated this in a previous thread quite awhile back still have not figured out what would ever top that find for me but enough on that, the biggest challenge for me now that I hunt pretty much only for gold is hearing the faint target's as we all know coins are big booming sounds and the gold nugget's are not I have always hunted pretty much by sound as I run my XTERRA 705 in prospecting mode almost exclusively even while detecting for coins with my threshold and sensitivity set pretty low the threshold settings are always set where I can hear them just a slight buzz but barely audible like as people say an annoying mosquito buzzing in your ear but because of the tendonitis in both ears which for me at times is three different sounds in both ears all three going on at once , it makes it really hard to hear those faint sounds and distinguish between actual targets and tinnitus, is there any suggestions for that ??? I always felt while running the 705 with the sensitivity set to high or the threshold set to high or to many tones set i felt I lost depth with the 705 do not know if this is actually the case but it is what I believe Again great thread
  16. WELL a Geiger counter as far as i understand it measures radiation levels don't know how one of those would help with detection of gold or prospecting unless you are trying to detect gold in the areas they did nuclear testing and want to know if the levels are safe to enter
  17. Have been away for a few months due to some medical issues that I had to have taken care of but I agree with everything you said I was starting to have with drawls from laying in bed still cant detect but I gues this place is the next best thing to it
  18. Thanks everyone for the replies sorry for not posting pics but I have had some medical issues come up that will probably stop me from detecting or anything for awhile I was able to take them into a rock shop found out they are just a really clear piece of quarts have to return to the valley of AZ in about a week for some surgery and will be down for few months kinda dis heartening but thats life
  19. I can try but it will be a few days before I will be able to as tomorrow I have to drive to the phoenix area to see a heart Dr for chest pains I have been experiencing I will not be back until saturday or Sunday unless I take my laptop with me and try to post them up
  20. oneguy I will tell you this when you are actually detecting if you raise your coil off the ground to high it will throw everything out of whack on the GM 1000 and you will have to do a re ground balance of it and I know it sounds strange but its a fact and what I mean by to high while actually detecting is 6-8 inches is to high what I do is turn the GM 1000 on and wait for the auto frequency to set and then I will do some figure eights on a piece of ground that I know does not have any targets you will here the ground balance and the tracking come together and it will quiet down and then hunt if you raise the coil at any time over 6-8 inches you need to do the re GB again as it gets out of whack and I know it sounds strange but it works
  21. Thanks phrunt not anywhere near canyon Diablo but that diamond tester might be a good way to go I am really curious because on my miller table I am finding a bunch of them I ran about a quarter of a one pound coffee can down the table and found 12 of them they are not vary big but when you see them on the miller table they really stand out I collected them with tweezers as I would see them I would be really surprised if they are diamonds but you never know all of them were in material that I had screened through steel window screen mesh just to tell you how small they are I looked at them though a magnifying glass and then put them in a clear glas vial with water in it the look crystal clear when you look at them
  22. This is probably going to seem like a stupid question to some but the way I look at it and was always taught the only stupid question is the one you do not ask so here goes Has there ever been diamonds found in Arizona the reason I am asking is I have been running some material on a Miller table and have been finding some vary small clear crystals that look just like diamonds. like I said this is probably a stupid question but oh well
  23. I also dig every signal and have been doing that since 09 or 2010 I wish I was in an area I could run in manual 10 I always try to but the ground where I detect is really mineralized and the GM 1000 is really noisy at manual 10 I usually am running at a manual sensitivity of 6 to 8 to start and I have been down as low as manual 3, before I got the GM 1000 I was running my X TERRA 705 with the tracking activated in prospecting mode and I would occasionally check the GB numbers on the 705 I have seen GB numbers in the mid to high 40s on the 705 and as low as single digit numbers and I have seen the GB numbers change drastically with in a 10 to 20 foot area they would go from high 40s to a single digit number with in that area with the 705 the lower the GB numbers the hotter the ground is,or more mineralized thats one reason I have never been able to run the GM 1000 at manual 10 I have never ran the GM 1000 lower than 3 in manual sens though, if the ground gets noisy at manual 3 then I usually switch over to auto plus the auto sens setting for me is just to quiet the auto plus gives a little ground feed back which I like
  24. I have been using the GM 1000 since they came out and your question does make sense I run mine in manual sens all the time accept when the ground gets to noisy then I will switch over to auto sens or auto plus the auto plus you will here a little ground noise and in auto none what I have found that in manual sense it does not seem to track out anything but in auto and auto plus I have noticed that if you swing over your target to long it will track the target out or cancel the target out, the manual that came with the GM 1000 is kind of vague and useless I do not believe in manual sens that the GM 1000 is auto balancing or tracking because when I am running mine in manual sens I will adjust the sensitivity by what the ground is saying in other words if the ground gets really quite I will increase the sensitivity and if it starts to get really noisy I will decrease the sensitivity I hope this make sense to you as to what I am saying
