  1. Roughwater I thank you for your input and I hope others step in like the guy you know. On all my air test I wouldn't call the depth good and in the ground it's going to be even less. The thing is I really didn't just have to have the waterproof part of the MXS. I do beach hunt some and i have hunted around fresh water at times. I have a true water detector that is also a PI one. If I had it to do over again on what I know now I'd get the Makro racer 2. Don't get me wrong if they being White's can fix my problem I'm more than happy to keep it. Thanks again Chuck
  2. Paul If you will please look at your repair invoice and see if it shows what update you got. All it shows on the one I got it says Parts= repair-test Rev= 000 Description=test & inspection of repair Not this is telling me anything other than the Tech is TM Chuck
  3. Paul this is something you may not know. the Butterfield Stage at first used horses to pull the stage. Later they went to mules and the reason was the Indians like to eat horse meat but not mule. One old Indian Chief told a stage stop he was going to kill them all if they didn't start using horses again. This came out of a book I had on the Butterfield Stage lines. Chuck
  4. This is with the 10 inch coil tone 4 sen. 4 first the next sen. at 8. Coin and jewelry program wheat jeff n. silver dime silver qt. clad half 6 6 1/2 5 6 1/2 7 7 7 1/2 6 1/2 8 9 If the C & j was like the prospecting program it would be the best coin hunter you could find. I don't think you could hunt with the sensitivity set at 8 because of too much noise but I could be wrong. Chuck
  5. John I want Tom to step in and run the same test. If his is the same say so but if not I want to know that too. i'll wait to hear from him but if not I will send it back. Chuck
  6. Was for fun I ran the same test with my Eagle 2 that still works great. The first test was set at 4 sen and the second at 7 sen because that's as high it will go. Wheat Jeff. N. Silver Dime Silver Qt. Clad Half 3 1/2 3 3/4 3 1/2 4 1/2 4 1/2 5 5 4 1/2 5 1/4 5 1/2 This test was done with a 6 inch coil that you could get from White's at the time. Remember this detector was born in 91. Chuck
  7. Okay John This is just a small test outside. The first is C & J with the tone and sen. set at 4. The ground balance was lock at 48. To save time I used a wheat cent and Jefferson nickel. This still a air test but away from any electrical. Wheat Jeff. N. Silver. Dime Silver OT. Clad Half 4 1/2 5 4 1/2 5 1/2 6 sen.8 5 1/2 6 1/4 5 1/2 6 1/2 7 1/2 fair . 7 good Prospect program sen.4 7 8 1/2 7 8 9 Chuck PS Like said before I just like to see what others are coming up with on the same test. It could be my detector are this is just the way it's going to be with the MXS.
  8. SLGuin I've said this over and over again and that's buy the best you can afford. On what you find will pay for that next detector you want. This will whole true if you get it out the door lots. If you buy the Makro gold racer and willing to dig all your finds will be great. The small gold the large gold you find you keep. I know all the coins you find on the way you may not want so just send them to me.Haha You just to jump in and get your feet wet and never look back. I've done it back in 65 and never regret it. the best to you. Chuck
  9. Hi John I looked back over my testing and one thing I did have the ground in lock. I'm wanting to do the same test outside but it's flooding here. We've been needing rain but every time we get it it's floods. Here on a air test from the first and after I got it back it's been a loss of 2 to 2 1/2 inches in depth. This test was done in the coin and jewelry program. Most will say you get more depth on a air test than in real life of a coin being in the ground and I too say the same. To be fair to the MXS I just need to get outside for a true test. If I can just get a window of one hour between the rain I'll be back with my report. I still want to get out in the field and do a real coin hunt with it. I hope my last test was wrong and that's because I really want the MXS be right for me. This is my first detector that I had so much doubt about from day of getting it. Yes I want it to work being I've got so much money in this detector and don't want to take the loss of having to sell it. The detector with the extra coil ran the cost over 9 hundred. Right now I need to stop. I get mad just thinking about it. Chuck
  10. Fred That's not too bad with trash to gold ratio. The best thing you didn't come away with nothing to show for your time. If it had been it wouldn't had been your first. The best on your next time out. Chuck
  11. vanursepaul Why can't you bring yourself to tell the truth? You know you can't be having fun because you don't have all of us with you. But do try.haha Being there hunting with Big John can't be nothing but great. Chuck
  12. Okay guys i'll go back and make sure all my ducks are in a row so I don't quack up. Thanks Chuck
  13. Now dig this. when I first got it back I put it together and went outside. This where it got to the point of being odd. I was standing on the side of my house. Now with the coil pointed at the brick about 4 feet away and I'd turn the detector about half way around I'd get a signal. This happen every time but if I turn it away in the other direction it didn't. Steve that's why on what you said it may be like a PI in it works better with a ground balance. One other thing I have a big light over the table I was testing on but this as said the same test as in the past. Chuck PS I haven't given up yet on my MXS.
  14. John If you look back on what I posted before and now you will see a loss of depth than the other test..I done the test on the same table in the same way as before. Right now the depth is no better than my old Eagle 2. I won't post a name but this guy was at White's and seen them testing 5 or 6 inch coil and getting 10 depth on a nickel. He said it was a DD coil. I don't know but I can't get a little over half of that with the 10 inch one. Unless other test shows better I don't know what to say. I'm just not liking it. Chuck
  15. I think it was a good thing I'm on this forum. I just don't know if i'd heard about it. I will say for my dealer he said if I need help let him know. Now that I got it back the depth is some what less than before. That's air testing in the same place and condition as before. I'd like to make the same test but this time it would be outside. Chuck
  16. Well Terry I don't know if you going to like this but here it is. Sen. 4 Tones 4 C & J program 6 x 10 coil wheat cent Memorial Cent Buffalo N. Jefferson N. Silver. Dime Silver Qt. Prospecting 2 to 2 1/2 inch better. I'd like to see others run this test to see what they get. I've got more but say later. Sitting here the steel ball in my left shoulder starts to hurt. Oh I did keep it away from my testing. Chuck PS This is a solid tone only no maybe or if.
  17. Here I've been waiting on my detector to come back and it's raining today. I know the MXS is waterproof but I'm not.haha I will and can do some air testing that will tell me some thing about my MX Sport. I just hope it's what I want it to be.( For me ) Chuck
  18. goldbrick It's Steve as always can help you more on that question than anyone. This being he's had a claim like that and done that type of detecting. I know on some of the other forums like Rob Allison has been to Moore creek and I understand it's like Gains Creek. I just know it was all about hunting tailings from a dredge in pass years. Chuck
  19. Well I got my MXS late today. I was out of town but got here soon after . I've been setting it up for a test run tomorrow. I joke about a detector being so hot it would melt a candy bar in your shirt pocket and this may be the one. Chuck
  20. Tom When you made the video just how far away from the coins were you ? I did see you didn't drag the tone over from one coin before you got to the other. So like said someplace you had good separation and you can hear this by the clarity of each coin tone. On that I'd have to say White's got it right. Chuck
  21. Tom I guess I'm both inside and outside. My trouble is I don't know if I'm on the outside looking in are on the inside looking out. I do know over the years I've bought lots of White's detectors. So I ask you where am I ?haha It's okay if you don't answer that. Some days I don't know what end is up. Chuck PS I may apply for a job with White's. Boy then I could say Before I couldn't spell it but now I R one. Thanks again for the quick turn around service on my MX Sport. Ups says I'll get it soon.
  22. I know what you say is true and I sit here with a straight face watching it. I have the TRX but not the waterproof one to go with my waterproof MX Sport That's life! The others both put a smile on my face and I like that. The thing is when I pick up my detector I'm like Superman I've become all business. If i'm going to play I'll stay home. One old boy that did go with me some time back dredging stop going with me because I didn't want to sit around playing cards. Time has got to me some but I still give it all I got. Chuck
  23. Oh Steve So much hidden something coming from Garrett and White's I'm at a lost for words. Call it what you want but I do like it. Chuck
