  1. The 11" I returned had problems in Gen Mode which is unfiltered raw signal. The fall off on my penny and dime were identical to the 7" coil. I also had same results with the high gain modes 2 tone and 4 tone. In the field I had trouble pinpointing with it as the center seemed to drift on me. I don't typically use pinpoint mode on the machine because I am a lefty and the pinpoint button is awkward to hit so I X my targets. This works well on ALL my machines and even with the Nel Big which is 17" wide. I did go over the same small area that I hit with the MK with 11" coil with my AT Pro and found I had missed 2 quarters and a copper penny that were maybe 4" deep at best. Simple air test should show the 11" having at least a couple inches over the 7" and that was not the case with the one I had. Maybe you were fortunate enough to get a good coil or a different batch, I have no idea. Glad it is working for you.
  2. Looking around there doesn't seem to be any 3rd party coils for the Gold Kruzer. The Gold Racer has lot of options, one of the reasons I chose the Gold Racer over the Gold Kruzer. Did you try contacting Nokta on getting the larger coil? I would really try to exhaust all avenues before trying to build one myself. I feel lack of specs will be cost prohibitive with the trial and error. If you don't need the machine to be waterproof the Gold Racer is a fantastic little machine. It has become one of my favorite machines. The ID's are accurate to the extent of the audio unlike the Gen Mode on my Multi Kruzer where you may have only a - - but still hear a target.
  3. Do you have a coil cover? When I ran my ATP stock which had no coil cover it would sound off on wet sand but the Nel Big with cover really didn't bother it or at least I couldn't tell with all the chatter 🙂
  4. I like to have a couple coils on ea machine. One smaller for park hunting and trashy areas and one larger for fields. Too large a coil may have no benefit at all and really depends on the grounds you hunt. Here in the NE we have patches of nasty natural deposits of iron as well as bit from old buildings and equipment. My largest coil I will use here for general hunting is a 10x12 which would be the equivelent of many of the new 11" rounds. Narrower coils work better in cruddy ground and hunting in woods. Stock MK 7x11 is a really high performing coil and is easy to poke around under growth. I kind of wish it was a solid coil so it wouldnt get hung up on stuff as easy. Weight is another issue. You may do just as well or better with a 13" coil rather than the 15. I have a Nel Big 17"w X 15". It is a solid performer but has limited use around where I am and is very heavy to swing all day. Nel and CORS are kind of the same company but CORS carries more coils for Nokta, not sure if Nel has any or at least not listed on their site.
  5. If you can't get a genuine Nokta coil for what ever reason then you can check out the coils from Mars and CORS. They have similar sized coils. I personally try to get a factory coil first but if the option isn't there then 3rd party options are good.
  6. Can you get the connectors for it? Seems like most companies use proprietary connectors for coils. I wanted to build one for my Tesoro while back and gave up. Chances of finding out the number of winds and guage wire is also kept secret by the companies though wouldn't hurt to ask.
  7. The coil has been FedEx back to the dealer and they should be sending it back to you guys to look into it. I fully understand no company has a 100% success rate and these are trying times but my concern was if this was a manufacturing mistake that I would not be the sole person with that mistake. I told dealer to check their inventory. I believed it may had been a bad batch. I brought this to the attention to the GA service center where the Tech excused it as EMI or ground mineralization. Neither hold water with me as I can successfully test and compare my other machines and coils and have a general idea on what the coil can do. Because the poor response from the GA Tech I felt it necessary to let users here know so they don't purchase a faulty product. If the Tech had responded in a way that would suggest he would look into the situation then it would never been posted here. I felt he was covering up something and I felt cheated in my purchase.
  8. I emailed through the web form and also sent a direct message to service@noktamakrorepairs.com back on Sept 25. I ended up following up with a phone call yesterday and had no answers on the headphones or why they don't work. The tech confirmed he got my email. I feel if I didn't call I would never get an answer. The tech said he will look into this but I seriously have my doubts I will ever get a reply. "I recently got a Gold Racer and was hoping I could use my Multi Kruzer's green headphones with it but discovered the manual says I need a wireless module. With a little research I noticed the wireless module plugs in on the left side of the control box. Looking at My Gold Racer there is no ports on the left side of the control box. Has the wireless module been discontinued? How do I go about using the Green Headphones with the Gold Racer? Thanks Ken"
  9. The coils should never got out of QC and NA support should have someone knowledgable on the products and accessories. I don't like the use car salesman tactic of excusing a flaw. I understand mistakes can happen and came across an issue that effects who knows how many people buying the product and felt it necessary to inform them there is a problem. Apparently Nokta doesn't feel the same way whether it is in Turkey or the USA. To me that is a problem in of itself. I have doubts that the wireless headpone question will ever get anwered. Time will tell.
  10. They are selling a faulty product and not doing anything about it.
  11. I got in tough with the GA suport guy though he had very little knowledge on the weight and performance of the coils and had no knowledge of any spec changes since May. He also stated that there is no way the windings of a Simplex would be at all compatible with the Kruzer or Amphibio machines. He did argue that air test or ground test won't dictate the depth of a coil which makes absolutely no sense to me at all. Here is why I say that. Of the machines I have and the coil versions I have when the width of a dd coil is larger on the same machine the wider coil will ALWAYS have more depth. There are times wider coils can be counter productive especially in high mineralization. It is completely pointless to argue or make a 11" wide coil that will have the same depth as a 7" wide coil. Either there is a design flaw in the updated design OR Nokta is selling a sub par upgrade to the Kruzer users. I consider the current 11" coil to be a piece of junk and a waste of money. I have enough experience to know when something is not right and do not like how this issue is being shrugged off. I don't regret my Multi Kruzer purchase nor my recent Gold Racer purchase but seeing how a company has turned leaves me with little confidence in my purchases. Would I buy another Nokta machine? Highly unlikely. I am still waiting on information about wireless compatibility of my Makro headphones and the Gold Racer that ON THE BOX INDICATES IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE HEADPHONES I HAVE. Yet there is no way of connecting them. There IS NO INTERNAL WIRELESS TRANSMITTER. THERE IS NO PORT FOR A WIRELESS DONGLE. THERE IS NO LONGER A WIRELESS DONGLE AVAILABLE. I was told th EZ Wander is not the option for this. I am really curious on how this gets resolved.
  12. You can have a film left behind with acetone too, I worked with these chemical over the years extensively. You can use a jewelry mix of amonia, water and couple drops of dish liquid as well then rinse with clean water after. Not sure if the amonia will be strong enough to degrease whale fat though. Heavy detergents can react with copper and cause it to patina if left on the surface. Another option would be to use 91% IPA. I use that on my laser optics with a pec pad but no need for a pec pad, trick is to continually roll the cloth so your not smudging but rather constantly using a clean portion of the cloth over the surface.
  13. Acetone like GB mentioned should degrease it but might make it dull, danatured alcohol is also an option. Either way a soft cloth rather than paper would be less abrasive. Amazing how well an old t-shirt can work unless you fancy polyester 🙂 Very good point on professional cleaning.
  14. I wouldn't clean them up any more than you did with the detail they have. You could send it out and have them professionally cleaned. The oil is probably a good thing as it is keeping the copper from getting a patina.
  15. Fantastic condition on that 2 cent piece, is that small moto? Think the large moto have a heavier font weight. But I don't have any reference on them.
  16. If someone has a simplex, could they weigh the coil? Depth of an 11" coil should be noticeably deeper than a 7" coil with the same gain settings. That is a big red flag for me that something is wrong.
  17. When I first unboxed it I noticed it was unusually light for an 11" coil so immediately I did a quick depth test with my 7x11 then installed the 11", reset the factory defaults and put the same gain settings back on and noticed there was no real difference in depth between both coils. I took it to the local park and numbers weren't all that consistent, even clad was a bit jumpy. I dropped the gain down to try to stabilize it and it had little effect. Previously to purchase back in May I had asked Nokta the weights on the coil as I didn't want to buy a boat anchor. Months ago they returned my message that the AF28 weighs in at 540g. With that bit of info I tossed my 7x11 on the scale and it came in at 471g then the 11" and it weighed in at 492g. Like I mentioned I believe the coil is actually a Simplex stock coil but miss labeled. I think it is an easy mistake but not good for the Kruzer customers that want to upgrade. I can't imagine how many of the wrong coils there are out there and it is unfortunate as the customers will be getting a seriously missmatched coil and have no performance gain on upgrade. The dealer will hopefully clarify this and notify Nokta and maybe Nokta might do the right thing and do a replacement to those that had purchased the bad coils. I have an email out to the GA tech center and the main tech support on a previous question and it still goes unanswered. I had to do an RMA on the coil with the dealer in this case because I do not want to get stuck with the coil and only have a 30 day window. Nokta support has been horrible and I can't blame the virus as emails can be answered off a Lazboy on a laptop. No excuse for lack of corresponance with their loyal customers. If they seriously want to survive in this competitive market they really need to pay attention to their qc and customers. Dumping faulty equipment out and ignoring customers is a easy way to kill a business. So my advice on this if your looking at the 11" coil you may want to go for the 13" as that is unique size to the Kruzer and Amphibio line.
  18. That is very good news for early Apex purchases as I assume there may be bug fixes or tweaks down the road as the machine is widely used in the wild. The AT Pro can only be updated by the factory which is too bad because the latest firmware is a substantial improvement over older models.
  19. I do wish they had user updatable firmware. I am guessing as it is rolled out there will be tweaks on future machines. I noticed a huge difference in performance in depth with my AT Pro when they updated it for me when I had sent it in for repairs earlier this year. Swing speed I think is important, many flail away at a target and different speeds and this can effect how the TID's are displayed as some machines have a slower recovery speed. I would start at 1-2ft per sec, and on the slower side on trashy areas or where the ground may vary in mineralization but that is just me, I like to take my time.
  20. Do to the lack of support from Nokta in the past I was forced to return the coil back to the dealer. May cost me 20% but better than being stuck with a piece of junk. I have a suspicion the coil is miss marked. My thoughts is it might had been a Simplex stock coil with the wrong barcode and product number. If that is the case then I fear there are more than just one of these miss marked coils being distributed to customers. Most people may not know the difference but having the bit of experience under my belt I picked up on something being wrong right away. I am very unhappy how Nokta has been with their customers. As much as I love my Gold Racer and the Multi Kruzer, if I had known service and customer support was going to be like this I would have bought a Deus or Nox. I hope they get their act together as it seems like they are pulling out of the US market with the lack of customer service they have.
  21. For some reason Nokta and the GA service center don't respond to any inquiries. Are they disbanding the USA market? Seems like there is 0 service and support for Nokta machines lately. Very strange.
  22. Once tightened would a thread locker help? Figure a drop on each bolt might prevent it from loosening up down the road.
  23. I just got my 11" coil in and it seemed super light. Comparing it to the stock 7x11 that weighs 471g w cover and cable the 11" coil only weighs 492g with cover and cable. Depth wise the 11" seems almost the same or at least air test I can't really tell. Did they reduce the amount of copper in the 11"? Tech specs say it should weight 540g. If anyone has an 11" for their Kruzer or have an Amphibio stock 11 can they post the weight of it? Thinking my coil is out of spec. Thanks
  24. Anything left on the front of that button? Back looks like it is made the same way many of the military buttons where made from CT. Guessing mid 1800's?
