  1. I don't own an nox 600 or the at pro, but one thing I'm fooled by the most is 18th century iron. It has a way different metallurgical make up than most modern steels and irons. It will cause my MK to read in the 70's. As for the false signals, iron rich red clay soils when wet or damp can make your your detector sense a false target. Everybody on this forum has experienced phantom signals, it happens from time to time.
  2. 99.9 % better than anything I watch. (except ancient aliens) Maybe we would actually get a real reality show. I'm still voting for you. How about the South Western Phrunt for a name !!! I'm sure we can come up with more.
  3. Maybe we could call it phrunt force 1 and 2. Have GOLD will travel. I'm thinking Simon should get a TV show !!!! Lets vote on that!!!
  4. Update, I just spoke with the IOOF and emailed mine and cap's photo's to them . The gentleman that I spoke with said if he could not identify the buttons, he would forward them to the UK for further evaluation. I hope this pans out. Fingers crossed.
  5. I think I will send the photos to the Metropolitan museum in NY and see if they can help with the id. I think these buttons are something good (or hope). Great old photo cap, can't wait to see what it translates to.
  6. Thursday I decided to hunt a 1/4 acre patch of woods near a old 18th century hotel. When I first started in I noticed a couple of old detecting holes, which had me a little discouraged. Good thing I didn't leave, because after finding the complimentary trash I got a real good hit an dug it. To my amazement it was an 1864 indian head cent. Another 20 minutes later I scored on a colonial button and two old harness buckles. Off to the next spot another woodlot. I was headed across a rather large field swinging as I was headed to the woods and bingo, a great tone. Rifle shell casing in the bag. I walked 30 yards and again a good solid hit. Another indian head cent this time a 1902. Needless to say I never did make it to the woods. When I got home and looked at the shell case, it was a very rare REM-UMC head stamped 256 Newton. These were produced from 1916 to 1921. They were made from old 30-06 brass after WW1 and I believe were replaced by the more popular 25-06. Oddly I was more excited over the shell case. I think its time to grid the field cause its huge. Also it's pretty nice to snipe an 1864 coin from a recently hunted spot!
  7. cap I'm finding a lot more early to late 1800's stuff now that I weeded out the modern. I'd say on average most date to the 1890's to 1920's. I just ordered a larger coil for my MK and hope that gets me to some of the better targets. This place has been regraded over the years and I seem to find older things in weird small patches of ground.
  8. The ships look identical, too much alike not to be the same. This keeps getting better. Do you know the time frames for the gold camp?
  9. I'm glad Reg said it was a fake, I almost was ready to sell the house and move to the land down under. I think Simon was ready to go too. He would need one hell of a plane to put all those detectors in ha ha
  10. GB, I was thinking the same thing, maybe the early forms of the IOOF symbols were more let say more mystical and cryptic. They have been around a long time. The oldest symbols that I found were from 1886 and they don't look like what we have. Although caprocks chain does look like the current version. Your insight and intelligence are a welcome breath of fresh air. I too hope we resolve this, because I'm loosing my vision looking at this thing under magnification ha ha.
  11. Quick update. I spent the last couple of hours doing genealogy research on the home site which I found the button. The house roughly dates to about 1768. The owner of the house in 1816 was Aaron Krause, He had a son born the same year he purchased the property in 1816. The sons name was Joel H Krause, who at the age of 16 entered the Freeland seminary, now know as Ursinus college. He became a well known doctor and was a member of a masonic group and a member of the Independent order of the odd fellows. How's that for research? I think the link between the doctor and the button might be proof that it's what caprock has stated. I love this site, So many great people to help with identifying odd finds.
  12. I really like that Jefferson medal, But I think my favorite is the old razor head ha ha. Great job on the collection of goodies.
  13. caprock you are awesome!! The little building is an exact match so are the cattails, triangular doodads and the snake. Looks like its from the same organization with a slightly different design. The Odd Fellows org. was the only one I did not look into, but I will now. I'm glad you had that button, I feel a little better now knowing there is another similar one out there. Hopefully we all will have the mystery buttons resolved soon.
  14. Thanks Tom, I'll look into that 11'' coil. That sounds like that might do the job for me , again thanks for your insight on the two machines and their coils. Looks like a winner Tom, I just ordered the 11'' thanks for the heads up.
  15. I tried them all too. Just when you thought google could answer all your questions.
  16. Good job on the ring, After awhile pounding the ground, choppy and jumpy signals always mean trash. Consistent strong tones are good or bad depending on the numbers. But it seems like you have already figured that out. Doesn't take long after digging a couple of hundred crap targets. When you think you've hunted it out go back again and you will be astonished at whats still in the ground.
  17. That's a Great thought. I'll keep running ideas through google images and see if I can find some like symbols.
  18. Best research I can do is a Religious button. All the symbols kinda line up with that, the little building not so sure. While on the button thing, I remembered that my since passed uncle gave me a few old buttons about 9 years ago. He was a civil war buff with members of his family in it. He also gave me a book set of muster rolls printed shortly after the war. He also gave me a hand full of buttons. Here are the photos, not sure if they are civil war? If anyone knows a button collector that could help me out, that would be great.
  19. I found this button a month ago and posted a bunch of photo's with my other finds. I thought it was just another old button, but today I saw some detail in it and started to clean it. After about two hours of cleaning this is what I found. The button has a steel back and a brass front, the back has writing on it that is not legible. I'm hoping GB can help me out with the id. Any button people out there, your help will be appreciated. Mid to late 1800's ? The design is really unique. Stars, snake, infinity symbol, sailing ships, little circles and cattail plant. too fancy to be an average button ( my opinion) Look at it and tell me your thoughts.
  20. Clean up with a tooth pick and an artist brush, then shine a flashlight across the surface to get some shadowing. Hopefully it will show you a date. I have an old button that I'll post that I need some help with, odd design. I'm really glad your doing well with the MK. Maybe some gold might be in your future?
  21. Great job as usual my friend!! The MK can really hit the deep stuff, I just dug a shotgun shell primer at almost 11 inches today. I have never found a half dime yet. Glad to know what they look like Ha Ha
  22. I've watched Callabash diggers video on the AF-35, running on the Anfibio, but are their differences between the Two machines that affect depth? I have recently come across some places where I've maxed out in depth. I'm finding a lot of newer coins at about 2 inches and some 1960's + coins and pull tabs at the 9 to 10 inch range. Not sure if a 60's era coin and pull tab can sink to that depth without some help. (topsoil added). I have the 9'' concentric and the 11''x 7'' DD. I get about two inches in depth difference between the two and find myself liking the 9''over the DD. But the unmasking on the DD is a little better. I pretty much can tell if two coins are on top of each other, or two or three targets together. My question is will this coil give me the extra depth that I (think) I need, say another 3 to 4 inches? And will it perform the same unmasking ability that the other MK coils have? I know That soil conditions play a big part but I'm looking for some info from anyone who actually has used this coil on the ground and can share the good with the bad. Also this is about as large as I want to go due to weight. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Nokta/Makro 13” x 13.7” AF35 DD coil for Anfibio/Kruzer
  23. Maybe, but still very cool!!!! I'll take an 1800 year old coin over a 64 to 111 year old coin any day of the week.
  24. Wonderful coins!! Lets all take a moment to realize they are around and over 1800 years old. Circa. somewhere around 200 to 260 AD. I can't imagine how great a feeling it is to hold a piece of history that most people have no clue about. You truly are part of those lost coins history now, I'm very glad you decided to share it with all of us. I hope you share more of these magnificent coins with us. Great job with the restoration they look awesome!!!
  25. Due to the current environment I have been forced to stay away from some permissions. My County has been One of the places where covid is hitting hard. This forces me to do three things, Eat to much, Drink to much and Detect, I kinda like all three. I've been doing OK on the finds but things are getting a little sparse for now. I have a bunch of hopeful permissions to get, but I don't want to show up at someones house with all this stuff going on. I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe! These are my last 2 days of finds. Bunch of clad, upholstery tack, 32 cal. bullet, 45 cal. bullet and a weird diving medal (cliff diving?) Also found an odd knob something with a W S S intertwined logo. And the Bourbon is courtesy of Chestnut Farms (kinda like gold, hard to find in my state).
