That's some great stuff!! The head thing looks like the Greek god Hermes or Roman for Mercury ? The buckle looks very old possibly mid to late Victorian.

Kac, No way around it!! when your vdi's bounce from 12 to 99 and fade out and crackle and come back as you dance around the target, it's the dreaded coal. I just hunted an old 1800's farm field today and it was filthy with it. I dug every target and came up with enough coal to heat my house for a year and one and a half old spoons. Ha Ha. But I keep on taking the good with the bad.

You break them down into terms most people will understand and give real world examples. That's what makes you a great teacher. And that's why I try so many different settings on my MK, Just trying to gain a slight edge in performance.

Kac, I haven't figured out the whole freq. shift thing yet, but when I'm in bad EMI I just turn my volume down some and work through it. That's how I found the ring at about 3''. As for the iron masking its pretty good but not as good as the 9''. I hunt just like you with the tone. That's where the MK works great, You run your non Fe tone at 35 and it gives a low tone on copper, brass and silver. Any high tone will be aluminium or gold. small iron will still give a low grunt. Works like a charm, just check your vdi for verification (and dig sometimes) The only pain for me is the coal slag and big iron pings pretty loud.

I'm not as pretty as I used to be, Time and stress have taken its toll. Ha Ha. The digging was much faster but after the first 50 targets things got a little slower. Being 6'3'' up and down gets old quick. I was thinking of hiring a professional target recovery expert!! This coil is probably the best all around coil for the MK, And to my surprise, It has way better separation in trashy area's than the 9'' coil. In deep mode you can dig 12'' + targets all day long. Jeff, you need to get your dog one of those Detech SSP 5100's with some wheels on it so the pup can contribute to the finds box. Dog's got to earn his keep Ha Ha. Today I decided to break our states stay at home rule today. Now they mandated us wearing masks ever time we go outside, I call BS. I'm in the middle of a 20 acre field with no one near me for 1/4 of a mile. I just got my new 11'' coil (AF-28) for the Multi Kruzer, which is the factory coil on the anfibio. I couldn't wait to give it a run. I started out with a couple of air tests to see if my numbers were comparable to the 11x7 and the 9 inch. The 11's numbers are a little different on gold in the 50's VS 30's on the other coils. As for other coins, silver and such, they are just a few ticks higher on the scale. I've hunted this spot a lot and thought it was pretty much devoid of finds. So today I decided to take some advise that Againstmywill posted recently, and I cut my gain way back and decided to hunt the top couple of inches of ground. Boy did it pay off, Don't get me wrong I dug a lot of trash, but this was to work out my numbers and sounds with this coil. I think this might be the best coil for the Multi Kruzer. The only downside is EMI . I thought I had a pretty good day on the coins and got a bonus silver ring, I can't complain about that. I want to give a shout out to Tom Slick another forum member who recommended the 11'' coil. You were spot on Total Count 8 Quarters - 7 Dimes - 1 Nickle - 19 Penny's - old iron ring, glass fuse, at least 100 pull tabs, brass buckle, And a nice little silver ring. Sometimes it's worth breaking the law!! ( no one was hurt in making this post and Dogodog is a purely fictional character. ) Stay safe my friends!!!

Lately I've been trying to figure out how to gain new permissions during these trying times were in. I don't want to knock on doors, but I would like to be ahead of the game once this problem passes. The other day I got lucky and noticed a truck pulled over to the side of the road and stopped to see if he needed assistance , turns out it was a local property owner who was out running his dog, due to being cooped up in the house. We started to talk and I realized he was from a particular 10 acre property I wanted to hunt. So I asked him if I could hunt his property and he said yes. I usually do not get this lucky. Other than stalking property owners Ha Ha Ha , Does anybody has any creative ways to get new permissions during this mess that were in, I would be HAPPY to listen and the funnier the better. I could use a good laugh at this point in time. And by the way, I do not want to use night vision goggles to hunt. Hope all are doing well and staying safe.

Simon has it correct, you have to crawl before you can walk. factory reset and find a nice quiet chunk of ground and learn what the nox is telling you. This means digging a lot of unwanted targets. Doing this will force you to learn that sometimes the numbers aren't always correct, it's a combination of numbers and sounds that you will learn over time. Most metals have many different alloys and will produce all kinds of numbers and tones. Over time you'll get the hang of it, and soon will be on your way to a very rewarding hobby. Don't get discouraged, and ask questions from the many more skilled people than me on this forum. You'll find your way in a few months, Good Luck

Jamie, great job with the vanquish!! You are proof that lower cost machines can find a whole bunch of goodies. I've come to realize over the years is confidence in your machine will definitely allow you to find more stuff. Nice tray of coinage!!! looks like you got a start on some of the trash. I'll bet you weren't standing up much? ha ha. Spend some time around the areas with the most trash, that tells you more people were in that area. Once you weed out the crap, the good stuff will soon show up. But like you said you need to go slow and dig all targets. Looks like you found a good place to hone your skills. keep em coming.

Simon, try this stuff Fluid Film (used by sheep, made by sheep) this stuff is the greatest stuff on the planet for protecting metal and plastics. Spray it on bare metal and it will NEVER rust. Today I received a reply back from the Odd Fellows Organization both in the UK and the USA. The buttons are not associated to the group or similar group, But they thought they were somehow related to the British Imperial age. Possibly of Indian or Asian origin. Which made me think of the East India Company. The buttons I thought were not Indian, but perhaps Chinese like GB thought. Which the EIC controlled. So I did a little digging (Pardon the pun). Turns out that the Chinese had a Buddhist temple in San Francisco in 1856, which had a trading post/depot attached to it. Now it kind of makes sense, all the symbols on the buttons in someway represent peace. I might be wrong but this might be a new direction to turn to. Perhaps they were off of a religious garment or woman's ceremonial dress? Not sure how this explains the Pennsylvania part of the mystery? But maybe it was some form of garment that was created for sale to the general public? My head is starting to hurt!! I seriously hope we get an answer to this. Last time I had something like this it took me 7 years to get a real answer, and the item was a tool use to cut leather washers for wagon wheels.

It sure looks pointed to me, you have to rock the coin back and forth under the light with magnification, but It looks very pointed at one angle, even more pointed than the example. Unfortunately I can not get a super close up photo of this. I'm thinking of investing in a microscope I can photograph through. I like the oar lock, looks pretty stout, maybe 1920's to 1930's The medallion looks like Victorian / Asian / Art Nouveau all rolled into one. Very unique though. Another good expedition for Kac. Great stuff

The disc is a colonial button, and as for the L, that small area is covered by some corrosion. I'm a little nervous to clean that area to much. Do the L versions weigh different?
