  1. I see you've been washing your hands a lot !!! They look like mine. looks like you have plenty of distance for safety. Oh I forgot nice gold there Flak !!.
  2. Sorry chase, I checked it when I was signed out and it shows up on the post for me and also shows in your response. hope this is different. 3. Kac, Here's some of my findings that I came up with. I had to throw the coal in there, That bleep'n rock drives me crazy
  4. Kac, I don't know if you noticed but the MK really hits hard on dimes or people just drop a lot of them. I stopped buy a local church today and only found a 74 quarter. Good days and bad, take them as they come. Great job on the collection of goodies!!!!!
  5. Thanks Reg, I can't imagine trying to dig out a 55 pound or 150 pound nugget out of the ground!!! My idea of a nugget was an oz or two, Now I understand your nugget definition.I thought you were kidding. I might have to pack up and move to Victoria and buy a backhoe. Once again thanks for the information, it might give someone the inspiration to find a bigger, maybe 5000 troy oz. nugget ????
  6. All kidding aside on the the monster nugget size. What was the largest nugget ever found? Any photos? All you guys that earn a living prospecting for gold kudos to you, It's got to be the best job in the world.
  7. The penny is a war era penny made of steel. Maybe worth 10 cents ha ha. I finally got my carrot to pick up the link. Turns out my battery was a little on the depleted side. It will only pick it up about an inch from the tip. I'm guessing the minelab pointer would do a much better job. The Mk is a great machine but I think its limitations are small gold. Not saying you couldn't find small gold with it, But a higher KHZ machine would be the ticket.
  8. I did a little dirt testing today with my MK. I found that the three tone /19KHZ worked the best. I didn't have a stud that my wife would let me bury, so the next best thing was a end link off a gold chain. It weighed 0.145 grams and 14k. The best I could do was about 3 inches deep. Next up was the 7x11 coil. That did a little better, I got about 4 1/2 inches. The pin pointers were my weak link both my carrot and my Nokta couldn't find it which was amazing to me. I didn't do any better pin pointer wise with the lead 7 1/2 shot I tested. The tone would definitely take some serious practice to get hold of, but you would basically have to dig everything from 04 to 21. That tiny stuff is real hard to wrap your ears around. PLEASE let me know what pin pointer will work with this little stuff. Great responses as usual from my fellow detectors.
  9. I think I just would have died of heart failure right on the spot!!! That's truly a wonderful find.
  10. How about a flip flop Ha Ha, Hope you find a couple of those dingler dangler things, and if if you do please post some photo's. Just be careful, The sand sometimes is not that deep. I got in a little trouble once for digging too deep. best of luck.
  11. That's some serious info Gerry, I never considered testing a #9 shot, But I will tomorrow. I'm wondering what I passed up at couple of parks. Man that's a great idea!!!
  12. I don't run an anfibio but I do have the MK. It pretty much sounds just like the anfibio. One of it's two strengths are being able to flip flop your tones to better suit your needs. Second is it's amazing depth, run lower gain first for faster swing speed and then on deeper targets bring the gain to max and slow your speed to a snails pace. These machines are what I consider very user friendly. If you experiment with the tone setting, you can successfully disc. out aluminum without running your disc. setting very high. By that I mean you will still get an alum. sound but it will sound much different than silver. I'm learning everyday what great things Nokta/Makro has put into their detector brands. Good article!!
  13. The one I made spins perpendicular to the shaft when moving. A quick spin and its ready to go. It only measures 10'' across, most time I don't even spin it out of the way. my soil near my house is really acidic for some reason, but other areas seem fine. I wanted to get a better idea of the date but i'm scared to clean it.
  14. Holding something almost 200 years old is really a great feeling. Makes you wonder who's purse that fell out of. I also dug a 12'' brass sundial out of this field, not sure how it got there.
  15. your doing great with the MK, Maybe its a broach not a buckle?
  16. I'll make you one if your interested? hardest part was finding the thread pitch.
  17. Bored silly with my states lock down on covid 19, I decided to go out to a place close to my house and run the MK with the 9 inch today and test out my home made detector stand. I was out for about 4 hours and found a bunch of clad and a fake diamond earring. Then I decided to dig every signal that I passed up before to test the 9 inch even more. 25+ pulltabs later I got a good nickle sound in the 60's. I dug a small hole pushed the pointer in and at about 3 inches was the large cent. I thought it was an oddly corroded 1/2 dollar. It was about 6 inches from the edge of a parking lot. It turns out it is an 1821 or 1827, hard to tell, I can just make out a 182- maybe 1 or 7. This was a great week for me. Might go out tomorrow if the wife allows. By the way the stand works great no dead dog detector anymore. Guess I'm not getting the battery pack now!!
  18. Kac, I pulled this from a long ago e-bay sale. Mr. miller has another patent #825921 for a toilet tank circa. 1904 Unfortunately researching patents are quite cumbersome, I happened on the above patent number from an old trade book, You can do a quick search on the us patent office by patent number. I pulled the below ad from thea.com when I was searching the name and interlocking seat tag. Vintage or Antique Oak commode. Toilet seat. Tag on back reads"Charles A. Miller Co. Sturgis Mich. Interlocking Seat Patented" I purchased this at an estate auction. The owner told me it was removed from the Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier Park. I can't confirm this, But the auction was only 25 mile from Glacier Park. It was on the original ceramic pot. Which I still have. The seat is in good useable condition. Very nice"comfortable" carved seat. Original brass mounting hardware. Seat has slight split were original. Mount was installed on left side(see pictures) But is still very solid. Mounting bolts are 5 3/8" with small adjustment. Bottom seat is 17" from. Center of mounts to front and 15 1/2" wide. Look over pictures to determine condition for yourself. ask questions if your not sure.
  19. Some spots I hunt, I wish I had a 2 inch coil. Saplings, Vines and Multiflora Rose (hate that stuff). I'm going to try your set up's to see if they work out in my ground. Keep the fun stuff coming!!
  20. Did a little research for your folding chair tag. Turns out its for kind of a chair, but not the kind your thinking of. I believe this came from an early toilet seat or toilet. I think the company was out of Sturgis Michigan. Great find!! Old company tags are fun to research.
  21. I set my MK with a Tone of 15-70-35. Most times I hit large aluminium it will give me a 70# with a high pitch. With this set up on the DD Silver always gives me a low grunt like tone. Don't ask why I just stumbled on this but 99% of the time I know if its silver or aluminum. I've experimented a little with different aluminum alloys (my guess) i.e. Different cans, pull tabs, small foil, large foil, flat stock ect. and I get a wide range of numbers on the screen from 15 to 80. This was the first time I hit on half dollars with this machine so I needed to dig to make sure I wasn't getting a weird or false hit. The 35 is the non fe tone. Not the gold/non fe. tone. I was playing with the tone one day and lowered it from 50 to 35 and noticed that any silver target gives me this low sound. This happens in all KHZ's. Hope this helps.
  22. Welcome aboard mrtune, I'm a big fan of the Nokta Makro multi Kruzer, lots of coils available for it and goes very deep and easy to operate. I don't own a nox 800 but everyone seems to like them. So whatever you choose I'm sure you will do well. Good luck
  23. Out digging with the MK 9 inch coil and man did I get lucky. I decided to head to an old sight and hunt in the woods. I was hunting around an old spring about 300 yds from an 19th century house. Was finding my usual shotgun shell cases and wire, buckshot and a 32 cal. bullet. When I got a huge signal!! I new it would be iron so I dug it anyway. Found myself an awesome horseshoe. Thought to myself that's got to be good luck. I stumbled around for a little bit and found an old spoon and a weird piece of twisted copper wire, seem's hollow with solid wires inside (no clue). I got onto a bunch of aluminum, not even sure how it got to where I was hunting. I was ready to call it a day when I got a big aluminum hit but it was different, it was a much lower tone. Dug to about 8 inches and popped a big coin, It was a 1942 WL 1/2 dollar. Man did I get excited!!! I decided to stay a little longer. About three feet away I got the same big signal. Dug that and popped another 1942 WL 1/2 dollar. I spent the next three hours finding nothing. I guess the horseshoe thing has some merit. Shotgun shell cases, two peter's Large P circa. 1915 to 1927 one UMC co. circa. 1900 to 1910 one USC co. circa 1926
  24. I was thinking of the battery pack too, Lately my carrot is reacting to the MK, but I also have the nokta pinpointer which works well but not a fan of the top buttons. I guess that I could get used to it. Found a couple of goodies today.
  25. How many hours are you getting on the battery? I'm getting about 10 to 12 hours on mine. I also turn my back light off and limit my use of the pinpointer.
