  1. I updated both my WSA II and WSA II-XL headphones to V1.1. I had trouble getting the WSA IIs to connect for the update, then I figured it out. You have to start with the WSA IIs in off (standby) mode. Then push and hold the minus button before you push and hold the + button for 12 seconds. After 10-12 seconds the light will be solid on (not flashing or pulsing) and you can connect the USB cable to the phones and then to the computer. Then it will let you click on connect and choose which update (V1.0 or V1.1) to download to the WSA II puck. If all goes well, it will show "Success" on the computer screen. I tried to push bothe buttons at the same time and it wouldn't connect, so remember to push - button first. HTH
  2. Very cool finds, sohN, I imagine it's a nice change of pace to do some more archeological work, well done!
  3. It's in the V1.0 page, but you wont see it until your remote is setup to do an update and when connected, it will show you a choice between V1.0 and V1.1. Click on V1.1 and it will start the process.
  4. In my initial park hunt with V1.1, I noticed a substantial reduction in iron falsing with Silencer and B.Caps at 0. I took the time to test Silencer and B.Caps responses individually on two big rusty nails before I dug them and they're both working better and less agressive in the low numbers. Of course I haven't had the chance to test it in a relic setting yet. That will tell the tale for sure.
  5. It's a lighter metal, probably plated or anodized aluminum. It came up 96-97 on the TID, but I'm sure that's all about the size. ๐Ÿ˜
  6. I use to run Audio Response at 5 in V0.71 but it was not good in V1.0. When I updated to V1.1, I just went with the stock 4 and it was so much more descriptive as to the depth and size of targets that I never tried to raise Audio Response or the Sensitivity.
  7. Great finds, Jeff, well done! Do yourself a favor and update to 1.1, it's so much better. They tiny spoon could be a measuring spoon of some kind.
  8. It was so odd this morning, as I was getting ready to duck out for a few hours to get some more trigger time on the D2 with V1.0 before the afternoon storm came in to see if I could tame this beast, when @abenson posted that XP had released V1.1. What?! I read my emails this morning and didn't see anything about an update from XP. So I logged on and sure enough, there it was. I updated my gear and reloaded a couple of my slightly modded programs and hit a nearby park as there was only an hour or two before a rainstorm was coming in. The two programs I loaded up are based on Fast with the following settings: (Note that these are based on settings that have worked well in my particular mineralized soil conditions) Both programs had Max Freq at 40 kHz, Disc= 6.8, Notch= 7-30, Sensitivity= 95, Reactivity= 1.5-2, Audio Response =4, Iron Vol= 7, FE TID= On, High Sqr Audio, but one program in Full Tones with Offset FT= 5, and the other in Pitch. I set Silencer and B.Caps at 0 because I wanted to see if I could. My part of the country (US Rocky Mountains) has a lot of iron and coal in the soil plus it been raining every day for over two weeks so the ground is saturated with water, and in V1.0, the machine ran too hot with Sensitivity in the 90s so I had to use some Silencer and B.Caps just to calm down all the iron noise, and of course there was a lot of falsing. One of the things that I was going to try was running the Audio Response lower than my usual 5 as suggested by Paystreak in a video. I had no idea that Audio Response was one of the things that was beefed up in V1.0 and it turned out that was one of the major contributors to my falsing problems. Instead I was bumping up the Silencer and B.Caps to quiet the machine down and it was just making things worse in my scenarios. When I hit the park today with V1.1, I was amazed how quiet the machine ran with no Silencer and no B.Caps with Audio Response only lowered to the stock 4 setting. Also, with AR at 4, target size and depth was much easier to gauge. Running in Full Tones was glorious again. I really liked Full Tones in V0.71, but it wasn't working well in V1.0 for me (probably because I was running too hot for my conditions), but in V1.1 it's even better! I was able to hear eveything well defined and was able to call almost all of the targets before I dug them. A couple of canslaw pieces fooled me and, to my surprise, a nickel fooled me. I thought it was going to be a pull tab. Speaking of pull tabs, I was able to call almost all of them by lifting the coil and hearing the squeaks in High Sqr Full Tones. Also, checking suspect targets in Deus Mono in 17 kHz with the XY screen correctly exposed all the tabs and iron I encountered today. The two rusty nails I dug were obvious to me so I used them to test out the Silencer and B.Caps functions while still in the ground. Silencer started to break them up at 2 and almost eliminated the falsing entirely at 4-5. B.Cap handled them well at 3, after testing I set them both back to 0 to continue hunting. I didn't find anything earth-shattering today, that wasn't the mission, but I did find a silver bracelet and my first gold coin! Well gold-colored coin anyway... I almost dropped a duece when I saw that in the hole! ๐Ÿคฃ But I will say I'm impressed that XP managed to get these fixes out in just 10 days after releasing V1.0 and I'm sure there's more to come, but now I feel like my D2 is even a better than before, so thank you, XP!
  9. Updated all my D2 gear at 10:30am MT today and everything came off without a hitch. The site may have gotten super busy after word got out about 1.1 which is to be expected.
  10. The Info page is still up. The site maybe getting swamped like it did when V1.0 was released. I got all my pieces updated. The Remote and WS6 went smooth as silk. The WSA-II wouldn't connect to the site at first, but I watched the graphic tutorial again and noticed that you have to start in the off (standby) mode then hit the "-" button first, then hold the "+" button for 12 seconds to go into update mode. I was hitting both buttons at the same time and it wouldn't go into update mode. So it's all good now.
  11. Bam! Updated! Let's see what this does. Thank you Andy, I was just getting ready to go out and I saw your post! Man, that's what I call responsive! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  12. Congrats on the silver, well done! I hit silver the first time out with V1.0 too. The D2 just performs regardless of the software version in my opinion. ๐Ÿ˜
  13. Nice hunt, Geologyhound, and congrats on the silver ring!
  14. Congrats on the gold and silver, F350, well done! And thanks for the beach reports from you and the Colonel. I'm very keen to hit a beach this year as my D2 has never seen sand. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Besides what you found, I also noticed what you didn't find, which was a ton of pull tabs or iron. That looks like a good sign. I also went back to the drawing board to rein in my settings. I got lucky the first few times out, but got my but kicked the third time out from having my settings way too agressive. It seems less is more with V1.0, but even digging iron and tabs is teaching me something more, so back to the lessons. ๐Ÿ˜
  15. Great hunt and congrats on the silver dimes and wheaties!
  16. Quite a bit has changed, Glenn. With a couple of hunts so far, I can tell that the Silencer is more aggressive, the silver range seems to have been expanded so TIDs are different, Audio response is more aggressive as well, pinpoint seems a little more accurate and doesn't blow your ears out, you can now set the volume level for each tone segment even in Full Tones, you can turn the Iron TID on or off, High Sqr Tones has been added which is awesome, of course you know about the top Frequency can be set at 14K, 24K, or 40K for any program except Deus Mono, they added an Audio Filter to smooth out spikey high tones. The main areas I had to change were the Silencer, Iron Volume, and Audio Response. I've been experimenting with the Frequency Max settings as well.
  17. I'll add that this is V1.0. It's fine to bring up perceived problems with a new release and there will obviously be more updates to address real problems, but for me V1.0 is a big step up. I can live with learning the changes and making a work around if necessary. That's what detecting and life in general is all about. Nothing will ever be perfect for everyone everywhere. So if V1.0 isn't working for you, maybe take some time in the field to learn it thoroughly and then make your assessment, and like Chase said, you can always roll it back to V0.71 and use that until another update comes out. Meanwhile, I'll keep exploring V1.0 and figuring it out as much as I can and enjoy every minute of it! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  18. Great hunt, Doc, well done! With Black Widows and Brown Reluse spiders on the rise around here, I think I'll pass on crawling under a house without a hazmat suit! ๐Ÿ˜
  19. It seems that many detector manufacturers are relunctant to give out "too much" information about how their programs work, probably to discourage other companies from copying their work. So it is left to us to figure things out and that's why this forum is important and we as a group can discuss these things. Together we will find the answers we seek. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  20. I'm fairly confident of what I said, in fact XP points that out in the Factory Programs section of the D2 manual . The programs are not defined only by their top frequency. The General, Relic, Beach, and Diving programs use Subtractive frequencies and all the other programs use Additive frequencies. That is just one program difference beyond the top frequency settings. The only programs that are derived from the same base programs are the Sensitive, Sensitive Full Tones, and Fast, and the 3 Beach programs, with possibly the Dive program being derived from Beach as well. Of course I could be wrong and if that is proven to be so, I will accept it. Since you are so interested in that, you should try setting up Park and Sensitive with the exact same settings including tones and audio type and see if they seem identical to you or not, keeping in mind they may perform similarly in certain ground conditions and perform differently in other ground conditions. If they do perform differently under different ground conditions, that would indicate a difference in processing and other internal settings beyond user control and suggesting differences in the programs.
  21. Nice haul, Jeff, well done and congrats on the silver and other rings!
  22. Gorgeous silver bracelet your wife found there, well done! When we were in Melbourne in March '22 I found a 9 foot hammerhead shark washed up on the beach one morning. He had a deep puncture wound in the abdomen probably from a large stingray. It's a little unnerving to think about those big boys cruising around just off shore. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
