  1. @Chase Goldman, many many thanks for your reply and excuse the pun indepth opinion on a few coil, the reason i chose the AI 11' coil was that it was a decent price brand new and my GPX4500 although almost brand new only came with a 11'' Mono and a 15x12 DD ML coil,i all ready had about 7 coils which are all Mono and the reason for that i used them on my TDI Pro. I wont be using the GPX as say a everyday out as i brought it mainly for hoard/artefact hunting here in the UK,our soil conditions are very every mild indeed with the exception of a roman trading villa site which has thrown up 1000s of roman coinage over the 15 years that we have been detecting this site. Its about 60 miles inland but about 60 acres of this site is about as bad a it gets soil wise. But the main reason is pure depth and i do have some large Mono coils that i can use when we suspect a hoard is in that locaation, typical the weather is deep in the winter grip here at the moment so wont be getting out again for another few weeks as the older i get i am rapidly becoming a fair weather detectorist. Once again many thanks for your information and advice, all taken onboard and will update on how i get on with the GPX and the various coils i have for the machine. Many thanks
  2. FT basically have one foot in the detecting grave,i am glad i snagged a brand new T2 with boost mode a few weeks back, not old stock, but the latest model for £299 which i thought was a bargain and boy oh boy that boost mode does work well. Possibly my all time favourite detector,so easy to setup and really lightweight.
  3. Lmao, that did make me laugh some what 🤣🤣🤣
  4. Must admit this has been a really helpful thread as i also have a GPX4500,it came with the stock 11'' Mono which i wont be using and also the 15x12 DD ML which is will be using,i certainly wont be nugget hunting because here in the UK we basically dont have any,so mine will be used for hoard/artefact hunting. I have just purchased 2 aftermarket coils and they are the 11'' Detech DD AI coil and that will stay on the GPX for basically everyday use detecting and also a Detech 18'' Concentric coil as well,so should have almost all scenarios covered,i do still own some large Minelab and Detech coils but these are Mono coils that i use occasionally on my TDI Pro. Have been playing around with some setting today that someone from on the forum suggested and graciously helped me with over this last week or so,i wont mention who it is but a massive thank you. Have a Doc screamer kit coming during the week to reduce the weight of the brick hanging on the back of the full harness, still got a long way too go but making headway for sure in taming the GPX,the weather is currently horrible raining and cold so not getting out alot at the moment. But must admit this forum and all the help that folks offer is most welcome and thanks Steve for providing in my opinion the best detecting forum going.Thank you very much and also all the folks who contribute a vast amount of knowledge.
  5. Mickey, welcome to the forum, trust that Minnie is behaving herself 🙂
  6. Some amazing finds, very well done and the Manticore certainly seems to be working well for you, because i live so far inland i tend not to do much beach detecting.Once again very well done.
  7. Good luck with both of your new machines and may they find you some amazing finds.
  8. LS,many thanks for that information,it answered everything i need especially the balance and how to find the ideal mounting point.....thanks again for your help.
  9. Welcome to the forum from the UK,i wonder what Doug Dug as his 1st find 🙂
  10. On my GPX 4500 it comes with a full harness but i all ready had a new full harness anyway,do you mount the shaft mount for attaching the bungy above or below the camlock ?? only tried the once today above the camlock and suspended from the right handside anchor of the harness.....how do most folks use the bungy on the full harness especially when using the GPX.....only used it today with the 11'' stock coil,do you use the same setup when using a larger coil like say 18'' or do you move the mount down to the lower shaft just below the cam lock ?? Many thanks
  11. I recently got a GPX4500 in absolutely mint/pristine condition for a crazy low sum and the 4500 prices are dropping,so i grabbed it and also purchased some new coils as well for it....i did have a fair amount of Mono coils that i use on my TDI Pro. I would agree that places like FB sales could be risky but i must admit i have never had any issues with some expensive camera equipment, but i have met the seller face to face and that way i can check the goods prior to parting with my money. Good luck and i hope you find a real decent bargain.
  12. At least something is getting better on that new forum,it's not very enthralling is it,yes i am totally aware that it is brand new but they are not giving it top priority and i can see many top posters just drifting away and almost impossible these days to get folks back posting again.....at one time many detecting forums had been around on the web but FaceAche etc put alot of them out of business and only a few decent ones have survived. Unless Tom pays someone to get it sorted out into some form of decent forum again it wont be long before it closes down.
  13. Always handy to have all the details to make batteries for machines that are no longer made,i was lucky that when i got my TDI Pro i was able to get a brand new spare battery as well,so currently have 2 of them but must admit i was getting concerned about what will happen when the batteries do finally give out.....but saying that not heard as such any long term issues with them. Thanks again for sharing the information and also all the components to build these battery packs.
  14. Luis,in theory i agree with you but i just dont fancy doing the job myself, they are expensive pieces of kit and if you do something wrong then it will cost a arm and a leg to repair......do you make and sell them ?? if so how much.
  15. What is so special about this Battery Cable and why are they so so expensive,do you have to buy it solely from Minelab or do aftermarket ones even if they are made do the same job but at a far cheaper price,i absolutely hate being taken for a ride when a company dictates high prices for something just like this battery cable. As far as i can gather a few folks have mentioned this is a weak link due to it moving all the time, has anyone got any suggestions on who makes cheaper ones but of the same quality as i might carry one as a spare backup one in my detecting bag. Once again many thanks
  16. Good day from the UK.
  17. Just a quick update,a dealer here in the UK is closing down and he had a spare as good as new Docs screamer battery package for about a 1/3 of the price from the US,so well pleased with that result.Batteries as such are not a problem as you can get most of them very cheaply here and will get a few new spare ones rather than carry around the massive battery that comes with the detector. Many thanks for all your input and suggestions it's been a tremendous help.
  18. Many thanks that does look like the battery kit that i am after, the biggest problem possibly is shipping to the UK....thanks again for your help and suggestion.
  19. Would like some help/advice again please folks regarding these 'Doc Screamer Power Packs',as i understand it they are mainly used to reduce the overall weight by doing away with the large factory battery pack,i will be running it on my GPX 4500 but not for nugget hunting but deep pasture and ploughed sites here in the UK....so my question is my learned friends are they worth the pretty steep investment in this battery package or do folks use other 'reliable' options ?? I wont be using a external speaker because i will be using full cup headphones all the time as the temperatures dont get as hot as say in Aussie land during the peak summer months, even during the hottest days here i will then usually use the XP Deus wired backphones which in my opinion produce amazing audio quality at such a cheap bargain price. Many thanks
  20. It was a great forum at one time, but in recent years with folks unable to post etc it has gone down hill rapidly,i have not been able to post anything for nearly a year or so,alot of folks have all ready give up and left. I hope it will still survive but i highly doubt it will ever recover gain to its former glory,of course i do hope i am wrong but i dont think i am wrong,it should have been updated years ago.
  21. Thats a wicked find,i like that alot.....totally unusual i think you have hit the nail on the head with that find.
  22. Decided that was the right coil for my type of detecting and ordered it from Bulgaria, should be here in the UK within the next 7-10 days and will be the stock everyday use coil....have about 8 coils for the GPX from the 6'' Mono Coiltek upto a 18'' Detech Mono coil.
  23. Looking at getting one of these coils Detech 11 DD Anti Interference for Minelab GP, SD or GPX detectors for my GPX,the stock coil that comes with it is the stock 11'' Mono which i dont particularly like as a stock coil, but this Detech 11'' AI coil is seriously grabbing my attention as a everyday use coil,it will never be used for nugget hunting predominately for coin, artefacts and hoard hunting, but will mainly use my selection of larger coils for the latter option. Has any one on the Forum used one of these coils and if so am i going down the right route for my needs and would you recommend this coil as they are pretty tough coils and a decent price here in the UK although they are shipped from Bulgaria. Rick
  24. I personally think after using one for nearly 20 years the 10x6 white elliptical one is still the best coils they made, one after market one that does come close is the SEF 8x6 coil which i use on a few of my detectors,i purchased on just last week brand new for my T2 which makes it a deadly combination, currently my SEF 8x6 one for Whites detectors is on my DFX.
