  1. Welcome onboard, must admit from looking at your images i cannot see it worth folks doing all the hard work for a very very potential small return....of course i could be totally wrong and hope you find someone who will take the job on for you, pure gut feeling tells me i could well be right in my assumption. Good luck and hope you find the holy grail.
  2. Very well done, gold is still gold non the less.....that is one more nugget than i have ever found, have found other forms of gold though ie both hammered and milled gold coinage. Lets hope you find more in 24 🙂
  3. Happy New from across the pond, hope i can get out more this year but being a full time carer it does limit the time i can detect these days.
  4. For the most part when i am on my own permissions here in the UK i am not against the clock so i swing slow and low and very methodically and that just suits my style of detecting, but if i am on say a club dig or rally and we have the clock ticking against us like usually 8-10 hours during the summer months then i will speed up my swing speed still not by much though. For me and always has been slow and methodical.
  5. Must have been 'Lightning Fast' on the shutter button 🤣🤣🤣
  6. For me 1970 and a very good friend and i built a very very basic detector from a electronics magazine article, the most basic machine every going but sowed the seed for this wonderful pastime.
  7. That is truly one hell of a amazing shot,i really do like that....who ever took that it must be a once in a lifetime chance to capture that.
  8. Elbert,i am getting the same thing.
  9. Just hope that its not closed down, but saying that it was basically run just by Monte and it would be a shame to loose all the knowledge that he and others have shared over the years.
  10. I personally would never rely solely on what a TID indicates especially here in the UK,audio for me wins every time as say our hammered silver and gold coins vary so much in say silver/gold content and also size and shape which could/can skew the TID numbers,so audio is far more reliable and also at greater depth as well......if you live in a country ie US that has mainly milled coinage then yes i guess you can rely more so on target id but even then i still personally would not rely just on that, our hammered coinage is totally different and many of our hammered coins can come in the silver foil range and gold can also come in the iron range as well,so basically if we rely solely on what a screen tells us then we would miss or pass over so many desirable finds. Also when say a target is slightly deeper than can trigger the audio/TID circuit then i also think that audio threshold is also very important especially when after hoards/artefacts and that is why i always wear full cup headphones to listen to the whisper threshold changes that could be the find of a life time.
  11. So, here the specifications: - Operating frequency - 5 kHz; - 14" round DD waterproof search coil, supplied with coil cover; - Modes of operation - VCO variable audio. VCO in Vista ABYSS is driven by discrimination and signal strength - the bigger the object, the louder the sound (higher or lower depending on the type of metal); - Audio Frequency - variable; - Power consumption - 100 mAh in standby regime; - Search mode - slow motion; - Manual Ground balance; - Sensitivity control; - Volume control; - Threshold control; - Led Low battery alert; - Batteries Requirements – we strongly recommend to use 8 x 1,5 V AA Alkaline Batteries or rechargeable Batteries with more than 2000mA/h; - Battery life - 18 hours; - Cable Length (approx.) -53” (135 cm);
  12. If i recall its running at 5khz and has the 15'' coil ?? unless it has some secret sauce inside, saying that would the Nox running 5kz with the 15'' coil perform basically the same but also offers multi freq and even 4khz as well into the bargain. Will be interesting to see how it performs.
  13. Still does not 'enthral' me with excitement about the companies products even though the T2 is one of my all time detectors,i guess its better late than never as they say.
  14. Must admit mine has and never will get modified and the sole reason is that i dont do nugget hunting with it,it's sole use was to be used for hoard/artefact hunting and even then only on occasions.Only ever use it in straight PI mode with mainly GPX coils because of the cost aspect as the machine sits around most of the time, but on occasion when it does come out too play it does earn its keep. The machine is that clean it looks like it just came down the Whites production line a few hours ago,i wont ever part with it and also it does exactly what i wanted from it when i wanted a hoard hunter, this task has been split between the TDI Pro and my Nexus machines which of course has total discrimination.
  15. @karelian,are you selling all your TDI detectors or just this one as you had been possibly one of the most knowledgeable people on the TDI range especially with your coil knowledge and the tremendous indepth testing of about every coil going for the TDI range......must admit i would like to thank you for sharing all your help and advice.
  16. The 24khz Silver Scout coil is truly a deadly coil on really trashy sites and small targets and as light as a feather, the stock 10'' DD coil is a great general all round everyday use coil then the next step up is the 13'' DD and beyond.Must admit my favourite after the Silver Scout is the the 8x6 which alas they no longer make these days, this small coil is as deep or possibly deeper than most 10-11'' stock coils and gives very good target separation as well.
  17. They look like very interesting machines,Paul Warren from the UK posts some very good videos and worth taking a look about V2 and V3 and with different coil sizes as well. Out of interest which version do you use and also which coil selection ??
  18. Staffs Detectors is a good option,me personally use Minelab GPX coils on my machine as you can use them straight out the box infact most of my 10 coils or so are GPX ones and can be used without any modification......Detech are pretty good and also Coiltek. Apart from the stock coil and 2 aftermarket TDI coils all mine are GPX coils as you have a much wider selection.
  19. I am fully aware that this is a very old post but just treated myself to a GPX4500 that has come along after only being used once,i have purchased this at well under 1/2 price and only been used just the once. The guy is selling it as he cannot master it and its been sitting gathering dust. I have about 6-7 GPX coils from 6'' Mono upto 18'' Mono that i use on my TDI Pro with great success,so when this GPX 4500 came along i could not miss it,wont ever be used for nugget hunting as it's main use will be deep hoards hear in the UK,could not justify the GPX5000 which has fine gold timings for nugget hunting so went for the slightly lesser spec 4500. Initially will be using the factory battery setup and then look at the various after market camcorder battery options as they are so much lighter and cheaper than the genuine factory battery. Just hope that i have made a wise choice on this one,i pretty certain that i have as basically its only been used for a couple of hours so in totally mint condition.
  20. I have detected in the snow before here in the UK,but those conditions are insane and would not do my old joints much good...Kudos to you for braving the elements and getting some decent finds.
  21. Welcome onboard,i have also been blessed with detecting in the UK and the reason is i live here 🤣🤣🤣
  22. Its all subjective to the size of the main items that you are detecting,if its just say odd coinage or small artefacts then you wont gain anything like 2mtrs,the bottom line it just ain't going to happen.Larger artefacts and the larger they are the deeper you will be able to detect them but then we are entering the realms of expensive and dedicated equipment here, unless you are 100% certain that something is in that location then you have to take into account the expense to reward ratio and in most cases if you are running on just rumours the expense to reward ratio is often again you. Here in the UK we do have a higher possibility of find hoard/s that in many other countries this is basically down to the vast history that we have,so hence when we do find something serious more than often it makes the news media. We all detect different finds at depth this could could be 1/4-1/2 oz nuggets in Aussieland or a hoard of gold coins here in the UK but we approach it and detect it differently. Weapons of choice for me for hunting deeper and larger finds are predominantly Nexus,TDI pro with 20'' Mono or a twin box these are for different scenarios and no one detector does it all irrespective of how expensive they cost. Fred or Bert out in Aussie land would gear up for say GPZ7000 for gold nuggets but for me or Frank here in Euroland who are after say hoards/Relic etc would/could use different machines as they are more suited to our needs and requirements.
  23. Welcome from just North of London here in the UK.
  24. This site provides totally free books on coinage, hoards etc and may be of some use to folks. https://richie3781.wixsite.com/coinbooks
