Definitely keep reading , but don't hesitate asking yer questions it's the best way to get an answer ! And get up to speed with your detector , learning what they are trying to tell ya is the key to good finds , if you just keep upgrading you keep starting from square one and the only treasarrrr will be for the manufacturer's. ( General rule is 100 hours (if yer payin' attention) just to learn the easy words it's speakin' to ya ! ( some arrrrr easier than others ) .. Not saying you won't "get lucky " ( it has a different definition here than it did in the clubs I spent most of my life workin' in....) LOL😜 ! You already got some pay dirt level luck , you found the best place to learn ! I've been here over 3 years and I still haven't read half of what's already posted , just keeping up with the daily posts takes up some considerable time . Bydogged I hunt beaches for the same gimped up reasons. But a nice inland permission is too hard to pass up so , every once in a while try the turf even if just a little bit , might be your lucky day ! I only hit one beach this year. and only for a couple of hours ,,, got 2 silvers ! One was a big fat (gold plated 🙄) ring ! Take what ya get , or somebody else will....😜 I'm living at my permission now, a 150 yo fairgrounds with new depositors every 3rd week of August. My last good find ? a tac flashlight that lists for $ 35 See if ya can detect my Uptah Camp thread FMI . I'd post a pointy finger link but that's too easy for a real Son of the Beach , right ? 🥸

I'm trying to catch up on reading so I use up all my likes and haven't really started yet ! Geeeze 350 , you killed it (again) this time ! 👍 The D2 is bending well to your control it seems . You get a new detector every time you fine tune a setting with some of these new rigs. 🤔 Wish one of those everywhere cobs would crawl under my coil uptah camp ! Ground a bit on the solid side right now for digging but considering detecting anyway and marking the snow over a target by spray painting a dot for digging in April. Need more permissions? I think you just proved those permissions in your back yard aren't finished with this trip out. Hunting where you already are is a way better return for hours spent overall . Have you considered having a BBQ for owners of old farmlands , with demonstrations of how to learn more about the history of the ground they live on of course ???? ( I know , I probably spent too much time with those concert promoters didn't I ? 🙄) My plan is the elusive yellow will come , just keep yer sad self goin' ! Do you think you could bury that little cob again and swing the nox over then tell me the settings ! 😜🏴‍☠️

Welcome to the forums JohnnyDigs ! Beaches are typically always changing and can be what is called "sanded in" meaning lots of soft sand deposited over the goodies layer. Sometimes it's not just the waves doing it ! Local govs dredge sand up and pump it ashore to replenish the beach , for the people that don't detect . Look for areas that the waves have stripped the sand out exposing hard bottom . Any beach can only give up what was deposited there , so high traffic popular spots especially high end tourist areas could be more target "rich" . Permissions ? ask anywhere that you can , it gets better with practice. Rehearse an intro speech wouldn't hurt . Be prepared to say thanks anyway if you get a no . Then ask if they know anybody....

Me thinks thou doth protest too much Mike . But that in itself is a possible worthy story 😜 (I was 27 until last year when I turned 70) Some deny "Ain't Rightness" , at first. But it always sinks in eventually as more of these events happen..... those lists do help but what happens when the list is forgotten or lost ?🤯 Speaking for myself I'm not talkin' ! (which might be an indication of lost memory)😏 but I bet everybody could add at minimum one more story ?
