  1. It was shipped on the 23rd from USA and would have been here today if I wasn't unlucky, it arrived down this way a few hours too late for the Friday courier run so I have had to wait until Monday, I hate weekends 🙂
  2. It's good they put this video on Youtube, the other instructional videos featuring Steve are on Vimeo and even by searching Vimeo with "Garrett 24k" for the search string I can't find them, only by using the direct link can I watch them. They should put the others up on Youtube too so people can find and see them, they're good videos too. Tboykin has a good introductional video for the earlier 24k. They've been making good 24k videos that are to the point and not made to be like some Hollywood trailer to a movie.
  3. The 6" coil is on it's way to me now from Australia so I should have it in under a week. I ordered a skid plate for it too, along with a skid plate for the 10x6" coil as I believe the detector package doesn't come with one in the box, hopefully the Whites skid plate fits the Garrett coil?
  4. Mines in NZ now, just waiting for the courier to knock at my door, only problem is it's Friday so if it doesn't arrive today I'm going to be waiting until Monday 😞 That's a painful wait!
  5. I can only assume the Silversaver has more than one product, note the word 'series', maybe they have a big one for larger restaurants and a little portable type one for the smaller cafes and things, making it two products. There has been no other signs of any product. SILVERSAVER SERIES Trademark Information Trademark by MINELAB ELECTRONICS PTY. LIMITED Metal detectors for detecting and preventing tableware, serving-ware, and utensils from being discarded in waste containers, for the restaurant and hospitality industry.
  6. Hi, Thanks, I've never used any of the Nokta detectors except for my recent acquisition of the Simplex, Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near you, I live in the deep south. I'm not surprised at all to hear of the Anfibio being better build quality than the Nox as Nokta seem to build really nice quality detectors, I've basically forgotten about the factory build quality of my Nox, the only part of it that's original is the control pod and on occasion the coil 🙂 Everything else is aftermarket. I understand they made it that way to give us the performance at the price point that shook up the industry while maintaining their healthy profits and they achieved that very well. I don't think detectors like the Ace series and other lower end detectors get enough credit and get scoffed at by those that will only swing what is known as high end detectors, in the right conditions they're very capable detectors and in my case if I didn't have the other detectors I could have found a large majority of these coins pictured below mostly found with the Nox and Vanquish with nothing more than my Ace 300, probably all of them. These were all found in one quite small area and it's only probably half of them, I never did take a total photo when I was finished. It's good to hear your Anfibio is competitive with your Nox for coins in your hunting area, I'm not surprised by that one bit, the main benefit I'm seeing to the Multi-IQ detectors is the target ID reliability, for overall detection with the detector actually seeing the target the size of the coil dictates more how well I'd do than which detector I am using.
  7. I would imagine it's because the dealers in question don't want to bring in stock they don't think will sell, that's certainly how it works here with our dealers. The dealers only carry what they think will sell, they don't want stuck with stock sitting there forever. It might be more of a sign of detectors that need discontinued than ones which are being discontinued.
  8. Thanks for the video, I'd missed that one. The coil reminds me a bit of the Detech butterfly coils. Interesting thing for Fisher to come out with, and they're doing it for all their main detectors, it was interesting the guy from First Texas called them "legacy" detectors, normally that term would be used when they've been replaced by something else, yet they're still the current models. I guess he's thinking a bit like I do, even though they're current they're old as all hell. I also noticed the two guys in the video with the guy testing the new FT coil both have Nox's with the White Nox coils, I wonder what the deal there is, maybe early prototypes as I recall Steve had a White Nox coil. Still pretty interesting. It had me a bit excited when they said they were going to talk about a new detector coming out, until I saw it was the Impulse AQ, it's old news these days 🙂 If it was the Impulse Gold then that'd garner some excitement.
  9. Looks like they're chasing the African and Middle Eastern market, very smart! Thanks Jeff for the information. Mine's just departed Los Angeles airport, hopefully next stop Auckland! haha, right as I typed that an SMS came through from DHL saying it's cleared customs in Sydney, Australia, so next stop Sydney! Then Auckland. close now... so very close....
  10. It clearly demonstrates the international reach Garrett has that Whites did not. The 24k Whites version has been out for a couple of years, nothing out of Nel, Garrett releases it and instantly Nel is onboard with making coils for it and I loved how their response was "Of course" 🙂 Garrett releasing the 24k from an international perspective was an excellent move by Garrett. They're back in the game now and soon to be at the top for the dedicated prospecting VLF's I think. I absolutely can not wait to get a Snake coil for the 24k, that combined with the Concentric 6" Garrett coil is the perfect combination for me and my detecting areas and I'll still have the 10x6" for ground coverage when necessary. Satisfied at last!
  11. I personally haven't had much luck with the TRX for prospecting. My first one I always thought was faulty as it's performance was pretty poor and when you buy a product like this internationally you buy in knowing you have no warranty as sending it back and so on ends up costing more than buying it so I then managed to finally secure another one from Centreville Electronics in the US at great expense but at least they were willing to ship it to me but it was no better. Yes, in air tests it's a killer pinpointer and the most sensitive but in the field not so much. I find I have to run it on number 2 out of 4 sensitivity or it reacts to the soil and drives me nuts having to retune it constantly trying to stop it falsing and I'm in rather mild soils I think. And at 2 out of 4 sensitivity the Garrett Carrot AT which will run on maximum sensitivity without even turning it on near the soil is more sensitive. I just know my Carrot is more sensitive to small targets on the side of the tip so when using it I use the side of the tip rather than the tip to recover tiny targets. This works well for me. I've tried to find a better pin pointer for prospecting with virtually every major brand and always end up going back to the Garrett AT. It just works with minimal fuss and is built to handle the rough treatment that comes with prospecting, the amount of times I've dropped it on rocks and it just keeps going strong. So for me, unless a new pointer comes out at some point that's better the Garrett Carrot AT is king in the gold fields and in my coin hunting park type areas.
  12. I think it's excellent news for Garrett too, It's a good way for their detector to become more popular, a detector with a good range of coils is going to have far more potential than a detector limited with two coils. It's a very smart move on Garrett's behalf to not prevent aftermarket manufacturers and I've always seen it as the Achilles' heel of another particular manufacturer, as soon as someone else had another product in the ballpark of their detector then it comes down to coil choices, and the 24k is looking to be better than the competition and now will have a range of coils for it too. A winning combination in my opinion. Yes, they will work on the Whites 24k also. It's been my wish for a long time now to have one of these high frequency VLF's with a Snake coil, finally that dream is coming true so I'm super happy. I also can't wait for Garrett's 6" Concentric coil, I'll be ordering that the day I can get my hands on it, in the mean time I've ordered a 6" Whites concentric coil from a shop in Australia that had one left in stock but I really want the Garrett version as I have little doubt they'll improve the coil over the Whites version even if it is just in build quality. By the looks of things the Concentric is a deadly coil, and in my milder soil conditions I think it will really shine. The little Snake coil is a rock solid epoxy filled sensitive little coil that you can really beat around in rocky areas and not be concerned you're going to damage it or have bump sensitivity, it's built tough and it's size means it can get into places very few other coils can. Below is the email reply from Nel, They've always been very responsive to my emails.
  13. Some more good news for people interested in buying the Garrett 24k, more coils are on their way from Nel, after next two months I assume means they'll be released in time for Christmas? 🙂 Maybe some Nel coils will be under the tree for me, especially the Snake.
  14. A friend invested in a Nokta Invenio Pro a few months ago, I refuse to add that Makro bit on the end, it's a mouthful 🙂 He uploaded a video today showing it's use, I hadn't really seen much on it prior to this, he's always said it's pretty cool and now I see why. It shows perhaps where technology is heading, maybe one day we'll be laughing at Target ID's thinking they're old school and have a detector with an image of the target on the screen and this detector seems a first step towards that. It's really worth the watch as it's quite interesting, I personally think it's got a long way to go before I'd be interested in one especially for the price of the thing but it's a great start and shows Nokta is starting to really take shape as a leading detector company and likely to leave some others in the dust in the near future. If they continue developing this technology we have a pretty exciting future for detectors. For me if they could incorporate this into the detector not needing the computer/screen unit and making it handle smaller targets like coins and rings better it'd be pretty cool. Perhaps VLF's haven't been taken to the limits yet, manufacturers just need to think outside of the box.
  15. It's a shame it wasn't an Olympic medal. 6 grams of gold is decent, more gold in an Olympic medal than my biggest ever nugget 🙂 Olympic gold medals are required to be made from at least 92.5% silver, and must contain a minimum of 6 grams of gold. All Olympic medals must be at least 60mm in diameter and 3mm thick. ... Winter Olympics medals have been of more varied design. The silver and bronze medals have always borne the same designs.
  16. If there is it's likely well over a year away, see the investor report, they always mention if there are going to be new models in it, often not saying what they'll be just indicating a new model is coming, in this one there is no mention of any new models this next financial year. Last years report had the GPX 6000 and MF5 mine detector in it as "new key products coming"
  17. Yup, they're made in NZ. The guy making them doesn't use forums. I will ask for his email address and pass it onto you with a private message so you can order a set, they're $25 NZD for a set of 3 plus postage.
  18. I guess they also include accessory coils as key products?
  19. Couple of Red flags there, the biggest one being off Ebay, would you mind posting the Ebay link where you bought? The Garrett Carrot has to be the most cloned pinpointer there is, many fakes floating about and a many of them for sale on Ebay are fake so you have to be really careful of who you buy it from, often price is the give away as the fakes are always sold cheaper than they should be.
  20. She uses detectors once or twice a year under duress 🙂 They're always for me, I just hope if they're simple enough she'll use them.
  21. It appears that is the full Codan umbrella. The best I can tell Minelab has approximately 300 employees.
  22. I just had guy I know make me some of these gadgets, these are his ones and mine are on their way, I currently have one for my 11" that's been there for a year or more but I've got a set of 3 coming from him to fit all of my genuine Nox coils. I've never broken an ear and my coils get quite a beating. Fingers crossed it never happens as my Nox is probably out of warranty now, had it since they first hit the market.
  23. I was a bit like that, I waited until I knew it wasn't going to be replaced to buy a CTX, I thought it might be one of the new products coming out in 21 and i would have been annoyed buying one when it was replaced straight away. Once I knew it wasn't I felt comfortable buying it and I'm glad I did, I really like it a lot so I bought all the coils for it but my favourite is the 17x13" for my relatively junk free hunting conditions with deep coins.
