I got a gold ring here a couple weeks ago that I posted so I thought I'd give it another try. We have had lots of rain here in N. Calif over the last week and the ground is super saturated. There is such thing as too much saturation when hunting with a metal detector but you can only go when you have time and today was such a day. The manticore performed very well even though we did not find anything good. I like the ergonomics... its easier to swing then the Nox which is maybe why it feels lighter to me even though people are saying it weighs the same as the Nox...to be honest I have not really compared the weight of the two detectors. Like my last hunt here most targets were deeper then the pinpointer could see. If you notice the coin finds they have all been in the ground a long time..and only a few were quarters and there are no new coins at all. 90% of the junk targets were aluminum of some sort. Notice there is not one steel beer cap in the trash pic. So the Manticore is working in that regard as I did not dig targets in the ferrous ranges today only stuff in the middle. I did take the machine in some high density trash areas and it was banging away with speed and accuracy but my intentions were to hunt mostly more open areas where people are more likely to loose rings playing ball etc...I tried to stay away from digging numbers below 15 today as I was finding those were usually small pieces of foil. Used mainly All terrain general and All terrain high conductors today...seemed high conductors banged on the targets a little better. Anyway i figured I'd show you what a 3.5 hour stint looks like in a hunted out park. It handles EMI better the the Nox...When you press the noise cancel button it actually makes the EMI way better.. unlike the Nox where the noise cancel button seemed the be there just for looks lol. strick 4 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The wider range of ID on the Manticore is going to take some getting used to at least for me. The nickels were coming in around 27-28 If I remember right and most of the square tabs were coming in in the 30's 40's I believe but don't quote me on that...then I got a tab in the nickel range as well and I thought well darn it...it really depends on the size shape and stage of decay. I have a long way to go learning the machine...things get burnt into my little brain over countless digs so I dont really know what to say about pull tabs yet. I forgot to mention that on some of the bigger can slaw the target trace would give a little smear instead of a nice circle helping to identify. strick 6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
