Minelabs X-Terra Pro.... Anyone Enjoying Theirs?

Recommended Posts

This morning I took advantage of the low tide and some dry sand (I don't go through it very much). A couple of Euros have come out at a good depth, it marks them as a ferrous signal accompanied by a sharp tone (5 tones). It doesn't even mark ID, but it 'shows' you that it's down there. This toy is really sensitive...

All the jewelry is junk except for a Silver ring. With what it cost me to get the golden junk earring!...😄

Second search with the XTP.

Medium mineralized beach.

I ran Beach1&2 modes to test THEM, all metal, 2 tones, tracking GB, 1-2 RS.

V12X coil

1:30h run time

Nearly all the objects sounded ferrous, negatives. Only the most superficial were non ferrous. Many of them sounded ferrous without ID, and finally were non ferrous.

The ring sounded ferrous too at the beginning, and finally about 42-45.

I feel that the findings are "big" in size (2 chains... REALLY??) , maybe due to the 8KHz frequency

Very stable and deep machine. Not as good as my EQX800, but for it's price, is incredible.

  • 2 weeks later...

The time has come to pick up everything that tourists have forgotten on the beach...

Lately I am using BEACH 1 even for diving. It is somewhat more stable and allows me to raise the sensitivity a bit. I am working between 15 and 18.

😎

This morning I have returned to the same cove that I cleaned yesterday. The wind has shifted to the west, depositing a layer of new sand of at least 60cm.

After an hour diving and nothing coming out, I have left the fins and I have decided to ford the cape that was sheltered from the waves.

Some old coins and Bang!...

Another Gold earring. Marked 585.

We continue for the Two Ounces!...

😎

...I couldn't leave that beach without finding some more Gold. In the past that beach has been a real mine!. There are a couple of glory holes and I'm very stubborn.

I'm late for work yes or yes...At 5:15 am I am in the water. You can't see much, it's not like the first day. Few targets...

I only needed one end of the cape where I couldn't detect because of the waves last time.

A 64 ID and a thin Silver ring appears, a recently dropped Euro and on the shore waiting for a precious 23-24 ID.

Loud, clear and Bang!!!!

Gold Ring. Marked 18k.

It's after 09:00h., I'm late again...

😎

...Fourth visit to the same beach, this time with the Nox 11' coil.

Wading from one cape to the other with water up to my chest. Three hours... And finally a wedding band came out. Marked '750'.

I think this coil gives it a little bit more depth. Numerical identification is still a party, maybe something more stable...

This machine loves Gold, just like me.

In total about 12 hours in the water in four days. I'm exhausted...And so happy.

😎

There are 3 Modes, each with 2 Profiles.  Each comes with the default preset recovery speed, frequency, notching, and tone breaks.  All of these are adjustable within Mode/Profile.  The Beach mode's frequency is fixed at 8 kHz.

Does choosing a mode implies some other, non-adjustable, setting that comes with it?  Iron bias comes to mind.  In other words can I, by adjusting the default settings, make e.g. Field 2 work exactly like e.g. Park 1?

Not each mode has its peculiarities. You can make small changes, nothing more.

Don't worry about the iron bias...there isn't any.

Start with the preset settings, adjust the ground balance and start in two tones. Take your time learning their language and get everything that sounds interesting. It's the only way to learn...

And don't forget to download the manual from the web, you will need it.

Congratulations on your choice, you're going to have fun.

...Another small 18k earring came out. It weighs 1.30 gr. and I found it in dry sand! Park 2 -15kHz- is perfect for small pieces.

😀

...I continue with the 11 inch coil. I don't use a pinpointer, in the water it's complicated, and I measure the depth in Scoops. The 4 and 5 stroke hunts are back, with the original coil I rarely reached 4.

The amount of information the audio gives me has also improved. That 'junk' bracelet gave a long, ugly tone, but I knew it was a wire or an elongated piece of some craft.

Awesome!

I can also increase the sensitivity a couple notches higher and I'm testing the recovery speed at 3. Values that I simply couldn't run before.

The quality of the old Nox coil is still there.

On the other hand, it becomes somewhat heavier. And the "electric tip" of the oval coil is a little lost.

This is how the last silver rings have been once cleaned...

😎
