My main problem with these two-box setups is that I'm not prepared to dig 5' deep holes.

even gpx5000 is not stable on soil changes composition ?

As Gary said in the video, you have to decide if it’s right for you.  I commend XP for coming out with it. It’s just a matter of marketing the useful scenarios of the machine at this point. 
The main investment they probably had was with the Deus 2 control unit which obviously is used on this machine as well. Why wouldn’t they offer up another use for the tech?

The gpx has the best ground balance built into a metal detector ever made, it also has so many options in both settings and coils that you can handle extreme ground conditions. don't forget the gpx is built to work in Australia where it has the toughest terrain in the world.

what about this video you posted? does it beeps on soil or there is a target there?

it depends on what you mean by toughest terrain . In terms of iron trash , Europe has certainly much more iron trash density than in Australia , and is very probably a much more difficult soil in terms of iron separation .

A specialist told me that the 2 boxes dont pickup up small parts of iron , while a Gpx tends to detect a lot of them .

Personnaly I have tried a Gpx4000 a few years ago in one of my favorite fields ( infested by irons ) and it was almost unusable because it was detecting too much iron targets ..

Looking fwd to a side by side comparison test on a big target ( a coin hoard for example ) between the Xtrem and a Gpx ..

what you mean by iron trash? old man-made iron items or natural raw iron?

Old man-made iron items in mild ground as we have plenty of them over here . Mostly nails . They exist since around -600 around here , then a total of around 2600 years of existence , since the celtic ( -600 to 0 ) , the roman ( 0 to +500 ) , merovingians ( 500 to 700 ) , medieval ( 700 to 1500 ), etc   Not even talking about 1st WW trash with its shell fragments etc 

It is impossible to avoid them here and I am wondering how a GPX would react on them , my experience with a GPX4000 was rather negative as I said.. However I have no experience with a 2 boxes system and I am just curious to know what kind of system would be the more performing on a coin hoard search for example ( say 0,5kg or 1kg coins at 60 to 100 cm depth  )
