abenson
Went relic hunting with a friend this last weekend in the Western states and he found a button we can't identify. At first we thought it was a North Carolina military button, but now that it's cleaned up I don't think so. Maybe one of you Eastern states guys can ID it. Thanks. 7 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24003-need-help-with-button-id/ Share on other sites

abenson
I'll ask him for one. I know he said it has a patent date of 1870 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24003-need-help-with-button-id/#findComment-254431 Share on other sites
sodbuster
possibly some variation derived from the Pennsylvania state seal. Figuring out what NC is may be the key. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24003-need-help-with-button-id/#findComment-254432 Share on other sites

It's a PA national guard button from the late 1870's thru the early 1890's Thanks for the help. 9 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24003-need-help-with-button-id/#findComment-254437 Share on other sites
JCR
It certainly has the look of an Officer's button, not just regular issue. Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24003-need-help-with-button-id/#findComment-254446 Share on other sites
