NCtoad
I recently bought a quest Xpointer max and carry it on every hunt, but I mostly end up using my old, reliable whites TRX. It’s (the TRX), much more sensitive to small foil than the Xpointer and deeper too. This with the Xpointer on boost. When I first got the Xpointer I would pull it out first and sometimes it wouldn’t pick up anything. Then I’d pull out the TRX and I’d get a hit. After this happening a few times I noticed a pattern; either the target was small foil or it was deeper and the Xpointer couldn’t hit it. I still carry it every hunt and use it occasionally but the TRX gets turned on first the majority of the time. I do like the much better volume on the Xpointer and it’s adjustability and its discrimination feature. Speaking of that disc feature; it sometimes calls small aluminum ferrous, but it’s never called a coin ferrous. I’m probably going to get an MI6 so I can hear it through the deus headphones. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24221-best-pinpointer-to-buy/page/3/#findComment-256693 Share on other sites
CPT_GhostLight
I am curious about the Nokta Accupoint since we can't get the Russian Sphinx 03. I really haven't missed the ferrous ID since getting the MI-6, but I recently thought of a useful scenario for ferrous/non-ferrous discrimination. So if the Accupoint can meet or exceed the depth of my MI-6 in my soil and discriminate accurately, then I'll probably snag one, unless the MI-7 comes out with ferrous/non-ferrous descrimination. ? But I'll probably wait for @F350Platinum to do his in depth report first! ? CPT_GhostLight
@NCtoad, I think it's coming out soon. Bob already has one on pre-order from somewhere. 1 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24221-best-pinpointer-to-buy/page/3/#findComment-256862 Share on other sites
KDX
Thanks for all the reply gentlemen. Winter has set in so I'm going to send mine in for warranty and see how that goes. I'm leaning towards the carrot, but the new Nokta pin pointer has peaked my interest. I'm going to hold off till spring before I buy another one and see what the reviews on the Nokta look like over time and make my decision then. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24221-best-pinpointer-to-buy/page/3/#findComment-256942 Share on other sites
phrunt
If you do go with the Carrot option go with the Pro Pointer AT (orange), not the Pro Pointer II (black) I have both are the AT is far better especially when it comes to sensitivity. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24221-best-pinpointer-to-buy/page/3/#findComment-256943 Share on other sites

By definition, the Carrot IS the orange Pro Pointer AT (ALL Terrain, meaning waterproof). The non-AT Pro Pointer II is not considered a Carrot variant because...well...it's black. Lol. But, Simon, I understand what you were driving at with the caution to the OP as these similar sounding product names do cause confusion. Don't you have black Carrots in the US? ? 5 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/24221-best-pinpointer-to-buy/page/3/#findComment-257042 Share on other sites
