Help On Reading Material

Recommended Posts

Can any one recommend a book on rocks and geology for someone interested, but knows nothing about either.

Being an older gent, having an interest in geology, where can I start.

Thanks, Joe

  • The title was changed to Help On Reading Material

“The Field Guide to Geology”, David Lambert will provide a shorten overview of the geologic processes. A college or university level “used” text book of “physical geology” will go into more detail & depth. There is a “Roadside Geology of New York” which will allow some specific hands on exploring. A good handbook such as Smithsonian Nature Guide “Rocks and Minerals”, R.L Bonewitz will help in the field. Have fun….

The Practical Geologist is a good overview of the general topic.

Things sure have changed since I was in school, and in this case, for the better.  I skimmed chapter 1 -- excellent.
