I searched the internet but, still not sure

What does SAT adjustment mean on a metal detector? What is SAT.

Thanks, Joe

Still a bit confused, I know I can adjust threshold but there is. SAT adjustment also I guess you set to let it set your threshold.  I guess I’m over thinking and should just go out and detect.  lol. Thanks

Ok, I upon reading something I found I guess its how fast the threshold recovers after the hum varies??? Hmm

I will encourage you to read the Users Manual over & over. Garrett and Whites both give good descriptions of features that will make sense after you get wrapped around the unit.

They really don't.  The 24k manual is one of the worst I've ever seen and may as well have been written by someone who doesn't speak english and has never used a metal detector before.  It's almost as good as the manuals you get for electronic components ordered off alibaba.  That is one of my biggest gripes with the 24k.  The user interface is confusing and the instruction manual explains little useful information that someone can use to learn how to operate it.  I'd honestly prefer dials because at least I'd know what every setting is at.  Low hanging fruit Garrett, easy fix!

Not to be brand specific here. Self Adjusting Treshold (SAT) basically responds to all types of metals while rejecting ground minerals. The mode has a special feature (electronically) which smooths operation over varied ground while you are swinging your coil. The coil must be in motion in order for it to respond to targets.

Threshold is the slight hum that detectorists hear by choice or don't want to hear. Some folks like a silent search. In silent search a target signal must be strong enough to first reach threshold and go beyond threshold  in order to be heard by the operator. In theory, some detection depth  may be compromised.

I keep mine very low while detecting and in increase it when there's alot of outside noise and traffic. You must remember, it is not a volume control.

Hope this helps, good luck.
