  1. Past hour
  2. Hey, could anyone identify what I have here, it was in the centre of a another big rock that crumbled around it when struck.
  3. many of those old White's are still selling for more than what a new trendy light-speed detector sells for today. I'm getting impression it may be a growing price trend for them.
  4. Today
  5. White's is far from dead...not quite yet. current sold items on Ebay past month or so, 489 detectors, many of them over $1000 each used. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=whites+metal+detector&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1&_sop=16 expecting White's do die out quick is a pipe dream. that's like expecting Pontiac GTO's to disappear and have no fan support 5 years after they closed Pontiac in 2010. instead a 1970 GTO convertible sold for $1 million in auction last year. the opposite may happen. they may actually go up in price and become highly valuable and collectible.
  6. there is no health risk to the current consumer grade lines of metal detectors. because there are laws put in place by the FCC limiting the amount of power that can be designed into them. however, if you use enough power there certainly IS a level where the electromagnetic EMF is a health risk get an EMF detector and sweep over some of the common household items, you'll find out. for one thing, the Android phones, and the laptop computers, have an extremely high level of EMF. there are many lawsuits in place and already won for millions of dollars over this, RFK Jr. is one of the guy who filed many of them, and won them. the phones gave many people brain cancer on the side of their head, and chest tumors from carrying the phone in their breast pockets.
  7. Some fly specs from an overnight trip this weekend. It’s getting smaller and harder to find. Man I would love a chunk👍
  8. Have a blast, man. Sounds like a fun trip. 😁
  9. I've got my stuff charged and ready to load it up and drive to Rye Patch for a 3-4 day workout before it gets too warm. If this goes well then I'll try to get back up there. I'll have 3 detectors with me and several coil combinations. My plan is to grid an area (maybe with all 3) and mark what I find and see if the other detectors can see the targets. I need to mark them somehow. The other question is what detector and coil to use first ... and if I really want nuggets I should take each detector to new ground. How big will the grid area be? It's tough to find anything up in the training areas but that is where the gold was before. I'm not quadding so I can't go totally wild.
  10. We stopped at a place where there was old gold mining activity that is near the area they want to mine. Right now it is a series of walks, hikes and old mining equipment. It has pretty good signage which shows what was once there. I'll add some photos we took. There is a bridge across a stream.
  11. Here is a story that says Magnetic Island needs visitors and tourists. Is that true? https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tripideas/eerie-video-shows-once-thriving-tourist-island-completely-deserted/ar-BB1mBLb9

  13. Quartz most likely. Do a scratch test. It should scratch glass and a basic steel knife, but a tungsten tipped drill bit will scratch it.
  14. I think it's the other way around (well at least here in Australia). All new Coiltek 14" DD coils are named 14" DD GOLDSTALKER SERIES I bought one last year. It had to be ordered in from Coiltek. I always thought of them as a beige colour. On the US websites, I can see they advertise the Coiltek 14″ DD Pro Elite. Are these "new old stock" ??? or will a US buyer receive the one in the photo? I'm sure Coiltek aren't producing both versions.
  15. I have been waiting for this response. Thanks for writing it. Maybe the only health risk would be lugging around the multiple pounds of battery/batteries needed to exponentially increase the detecting depth and power of the latest induction balanced VLFs. For me, I loved the White's detectors I owned in the past. Rugged, worked as well as anything else with comparable tech and were well made for the most part aside from some of the coils. I liked my Mercury, Plymouth and Oldsmobile cars too but those are all on the scrap heap now. I definitely won't be using any Whites models in the future except for the Garrett/Whites 24K.
  16. For anyone who's interested in the full video, I've just posted it to youtube 🙂 I found a gold ring in the same spot the next morning but didn't have enough footage to make a full video on so I just added it to the same video.
  17. This is a long discredited myth, though the health protection part adds a new twist I’ve never seen before. And just because some people can’t accept the times have moved on and their favored item is now part of the past does not mean it’s not so. The reality is this websites traffic has done nothing but grow over the years, it’s just that White’s portion of that growth has become non-existent. The reason is obvious - the company went out of business and its share of the actual detectors in use will do nothing but decline going forward. But do feel free to seek out and find that Facebook, Twitter, X, etc. social media site that’s just hopping with White’s action as opposed to hanging out on dying obscure forums like this one.
  18. Yesterday
  19. The ever so resourceful Ukrainians have them for sale on Ebay at this link.
  20. Hmm mr @phrunt any ideas where I can get a waterproof plug from? Still struggling to find one
  21. Thank you everyone for the advise. I ended up returning the machine altogether as there were too many issues. It was bought from a pawn shop via eBay auction. When I received it, it was nothing like the photos. Broken handle, broken screen, shredded power, rusted screws, broken coil cables, missing speaker bracket, no headphones, and missing battery cover for the amp. All was replaceable and I could still justify it for the price I paid but the screen was the tipping point.

  23. Well I spoke too soon. I tried to cut and paste about 60gb of videos from my old hard drive to my new one and it just stopped after 30gb and the other 30gb simply disappeared. Still have a couple of good days of video but there's 1 really good clip I'm sad about losing. Oh well. Another video hopefully coming out today - I've been waiting to head back there with the drone to put some footage of the area in my video 🙂
  24. And here is the second video on V1.15 that covers be :Beast Mode",
  25. Here is the first of 2 videos I did on the new V1.15 update. This one focuses on the dt feature.
