  1. And a bit more focus on EMI shielding. Using the aftermarket shielding for the box combined with moving to a lithium battery makes a huge difference
  2. I am obviously prospecting wrong. I need a good horse to lose
  3. Dont forget our rivers full of fishing weights and sinkers
  4. All this says is a 4ft post with claim papers. Most I know are compliant with this. Note this is lode. For placer it would be a discovery marker
  5. Switch to fine gold or enhance and see if it ground balances out. Of course the only 100% method is to dig it out, but this should give you a good idea
  6. I dont believe the statements that they will trace the gold back to its source is possible with any degree of accuracy. Even in a single vein system the gold is so highly variable that pinpointing source has low statistical precision. Added to this different efficiency of small scale smelting and refining processes and leaching of placer in the environment and you will be able to tell it is, well, gold.
  7. Looks like an ibutton, which can be data logging temperature sensors or electronic tags .
  8. My point is not that. My point is that, much like national election polls, you cannot represent the whole US when you have sections that are systematically non reporting. I shall sign off here, however.
  9. The people I know dont reveal to dealers what they are finding, especially because they have more infomation about them. Admittedly a small number, but that is my experience. Those finding little tend to lie they are finding more. Those finding more tend to lie they are finding little
  10. The US is a big place with many areas of gold mineralization, and many people never post their finds for obvious reasons. I think it is very hard to generalize based on Rye Patch and a couple of other areas. Those doing very well keep it very quiet and dont advertise where there is good gold to be found.
  11. I agree that sensitive extra is great, and sharp is magic for running over your ground for the deeper fainter signals, however, I also find a use for fine gold when patch hunting as it is less sensitive to hot rocks and mineralization and thus more efficient at ground coverage when looking for that indicator nugget
  12. They are the ones that forgot their pick in the 6000 commercials
