  1. It looks like it only does shallow dry sand. The old deep and heavy metal targets (coins and jewellery) should be left in range for us detectorist.
  2. Old photo of one of my old glass bottles.
  3. I should of did it in my head I would of been 1000% closer, bloody computers 🤣 So now I will have to fix up the heading Aureous. 😬
  4. This is a list of Greater than 10 Tonne Gold found and recorded (a lot of early finds were not recorded) in Victoria Australia.
  5. I don't go for most gold Youtube videos but if you got 20 minutes to spare watch this one that I found the link on another forum. That my type ground (New Ground).
  6. That reminds me of Wedderburne 1979 😄
  7. I see the red survey flags, are you GhostMiner looking at that particular spot.
  8. That's a close rock slide. I would not like to be close to the large rock while it's moving.🤕
  9. Another use might of been the washer from oil draining plug.
  10. But size matters, neither of you have mention their size. (weight I mean). 😁
  11. So that is why the term "I will kick you in the nuggets" come from. 😭
  12. " Last night we were woke up by the return of the midnight screechers as I call them. The bobcats come in from the west and screech blood curdling calls to each other as they approach camp. " If you are in Australian Bush you may hear a terrifying animal blood curdling call. It will be coming from one of our DROP BEARS known as KOALA. Carol and I was night camping in a National park when the Koala let go. Two Italian girls doing a backpacking hike in Australia raced up to our tent as scared as can be. The drop bear is a hoax in contemporary Australian folklore featuring a predatory, carnivorous version of the koala. This imaginary animal is commonly spoken about in tall tales designed to scare tourists. Wikipedia
  13. You have got a lot excellent answers. To me a simple answer is something has change and needs consideration as it could be your best find at the limit of your detector.
  14. I think the bigfoot is the way to go. Sensitive to small nuggets with a wide coverage as the best bet in wide open areas with little junk.
  15. Don't worry about the value you found it and therefore those that you leave it too will even treasure it more. By the way there was many buckles about when I got my first back in 1980 and a lot since. Yours is in excellent condition and worth keeping irrespective of its value. It is a real nugget of a find.
  16. Now that's a real GOLD PHOTO .........🤑 I don't know which way is up by the date. 😀
  17. Prices here in Victoria. Aus is Equivalent to $5.80 US gallon ($2.07 AUD per Litre) But prices have dropped a bit from it's high a week ago.
  18. It has a great possibility for a TV or Movie. Who would play Jed,Ben, and Sarge . Lee Marvin would be my pick for Whiskey Jack and may someone from the "Magnificent Seven film" for Ben and Sarge. In this day and age we need a "rough and tough beautiful Female in the Film version. 😀
  19. My grand son has one. I don't know much about designing a product, but Equipment for copying an object would be my interest and would allow easy duplication of broken parts even if you have to glue the part together to make a copy. Using designs that have been done by getting a copy form here would be great Steve.
  20. That the old "BEX" bottle that I used to stick my bits in. Thanks for Memories. It fell out of my pocket 3 stories up in a Power Station at work. The BEX broke but I found most of the gold. Now I use a high visible plastic container when out in the field.
  21. We went back down to camp and fixed up some beans and bacon and I pulled out a bottle. I asked Jack if he wanted a cup. He grinned and said he didn’t get that name for nothing. We fixed him up a place to sleep in one of the tents and Whiskey Jack and me drank a few cups together and talked about mining. I guess Whiskey Jack, could of been Jack Danial's founder. 😊
  22. 1. The only one way ticket for Gold Prospector is the return one and it only cost the sum total of gold found. 😉 2. All of the specimens on top the container were found the same day. 🤤
  23. It all depends how you look at thinks RV. Have a look at this drawing then turn it so the "After 6 beers" is on top. Hint the Neck becomes a Crown The nugget on top of the Container is the " sunbaker after it had a cold bath.
  24. I once read a book from a diary of a swagman on the Vic. Gold fields. Great story but not as much movie like action that this diary has potential for. Pity the Swagman: the Australian odyssey of a Victorian diarist by Bethan Phillips A biography of Joseph Jenkins (1818-1896), a Welsh farmer who left his wife and family to try his luck on the Victorian goldfields and remained in Australia for 27 years. Throughout his life Jenkins kept diaries, some of which have been published as 'The diary of a Welsh swagman'. These diaries reflect a complex man and give insight into nineteenth century life in rural Wales.
  25. That's a great outcome. There must be MORE in the vicinity. My largest Specimen was about 112/16+ ounces was found in an area that I specked the first nugget, but that was in Australia so they are more common here. I got over 1 kilo two years in a row from that locality. Lets hope you have the same outcome, and there are more photos coming from other members of that quality. Some specimens have a high gold content. Above the display containers, is some of my VLF days. 26 odd troy oz of gold (These were only 20 meters from the source ) plus my first ounce plus (4 oz) gold nugget and gold ring next to it. All of those finds were found with a VLF detector, including the coins found by the wife.
