  1. There is your answer from "Geotech". The threshold is set to what you like but the volume will alter when the coil receives a positive or negative unbalance signal due to wet salt, iron effect or most importance target signal. You only want the target signal, so you remove wet salt, iron effect, by ground balance between air and ground so no sound effect comes from the ground and interferes with the target signal
  2. Set the threshold to the minimum that is stable. Start to pump the coil up and down on the ground. If a noise change is heard when going near the ground turn the ground balance one way if it get loader or quieter turn it the other way till no change is heard. When the ground has small variable hot rocks a little bias one way or the other can help reduce this annoyance. How is that for simple.
  3. GhostMiner you have past the 20,000 views, well done. I think this will be exceeded by a multiple, with the interest being shown. 👏
  4. What is the purpose of the red? rope/string at the top of the photo. Today I have run out of LIKES so I will sneak a couple in when Steve is not looking 😁
  5. Thanks for your posts. The rate that you have push them out lately you must now being using the scan to text mode. If this is not the case, Jed is looking at your effort and will want you to WORK for him or he might give you a go at his spot.
  6. Jed and his mates had the benefit of the gold price during the 1930's, but competition and crime would of been high because of the gold price increases. From Wikipedia International economic historical narrative The international community during the depression began to shift much of its gold reserves to the United States. Foreign investors clamoured over the $15 increase in value from $20.67 to $35 per troy ounce, and exported their gold to the United States in record amounts causing U.S. treasury holdings to increase. This data shows two important aspects that involved gold in the early 20th century. The first was the massive expansion of gold as a currency across the globe. This data also demonstrates the rapid increase of gold reserves to the US. Even in 1900 the U.S. only held 602 tonnes of gold in reserve. This was 61 tonnes less than Russia and only 57 tonnes more than France.[3] Over the next 20 years the countries' reserves grew as the amount of gold in the market increased and as normal trading occurred. However, in the 1930s there was a sudden shift up in reserves in the U.S. From 1930 to 1940, treasury holdings had tripled, mostly due to foreign investing. Another reason behind the shift of reserves to the US was the suspension of the gold standard in Britain on September 21, 1931. Gold reserves in the Bank of England also grew over ten times from 1930 to 1940, but it was still less than the amount the U.S. had. The Bank of France also saw over 200 tonnes of gold get transferred to New York following the raising of prices in America.
  7. Those cost are not required for Aus. & NZ. Whoops that right they are not made in Australia so they will go up here too. 😷
  8. Tektites are a recycled Earth material the Meteorites have made. The photo has one of my nuggets ( 4 Oz. ) to show the size of them. They do not respond to a metal detector. The normal finds are about the size of the two sitting on the nugget. So they are normally found when specking in my case for gold. Tektites are small, pebble-like glassy objects of Earth material that have been melted by meteorite impact, splashed up into our atmosphere, and fallen to Earth again under gravity. They often acquire aerodynamic shapes when they partially melt on their return journey.
  9. So you must be in trouble with the WIFE now. Or did you buy a bigger diamond. 🤑
  10. Was it hard to hear or did you have a sound enhancer to help you. 😁
  11. You must think you are a teenager to get that many targets, but the coins would of given a helping hand. The only time I would want to dig up that much junk there has to be gold nearby. Well done. 🥇 I did not take them home to photograph just left them for others to have fun.😎
  12. I don't think so, but painted gold for sure. That why the security guys are still alive.
  13. When I was young I could lift 410 pound but I don't think I could of out run the security guys with it, but then again it amazing what you can do when it's gold. 😁
  14. I though you were scanning it. ......... How do I scan a handwritten document into text? Convert Scanned Handwriting to Text If you have a document with handwriting on it, you can use a scanner to deliver it to your device and then convert it to text. To scan handwriting to text, scan the document as a PDF, then use Microsoft OneNote to capture the words. Open the PDF and choose Copy Text From Picture..... It might be worth a look.
  15. "He was grazed in the leg but not too bad." Maybe a closer shot at the other leg to immobilize him. 😜
  16. Jed last entry was MAY 27 1936. That was a Wednesday one more day before the action occurs ..... I'm waiting as well the rest of us members of Steve's forum. 🥺
  17. It good the way gold coins can be clean quite easy as in your videos, due to the fact that they don't corrode like copper or silver coins. Both of Carol's gold coins were cleaned very easy with an ultrasonic cleaner.
  18. "Geezer", the gardens of old residential homes have given me a few, the down-side is they are old and lost by women. The diamonds are usually small if any. I guess men don't like getting their hands dirty messing around flowers. 😀 But gold is gold and not the root of all evil.
  19. Red Tape and the wait is the main problem. Even if you own the land they will still make it difficult. In this case as alluvial gold is usually on the water run constructing a dam for agriculture use in the right place has allowed the owners to get detectorist to remove the heavy metal contaminates 😉(Au) with out having all the problems. Common-sense goes out the window when extreme activists put pressure on the politicians to restrict prospecting.
  20. You never know what a signal is till it is eliminated. One day we went prospecting a couple of hundred meters from a patch that I had found. My prospecting mate and our wives were detecting the area when my mate got a signal near a tree. After he had dug over a foot deep he said it must be the tree sap giving his VLF the signal. As he had given up I said let me test it. To keep it short I dug a 2 Oz. nugget up for him. After he let his wife have a feel of the weight he handed it back to me. I looked at him and said you found it so it's yours. Well we checked close and around the nearby trees. I got a great signal on one tree and went right around it. I thought it must be under the trunk of the tree as the strength was about even all the way round . I lifted the coil off the ground to dig but the noise got a lot louder it peaked about 2½ above the ground. What we found was that the tree had grown around a horse shoe. Totally hidden by the bark. After exposing the horse shoe, I said to my mate now it is your turn to dig it out with a smile. 🤣
