  1. Does anyone else feel like the coil ears/stem seem over engineered? Why not just add 1mm in thickness to the traditional ears and call it a day? Kind of seems like reinventing the wheel.
  2. For anyone that’s ever used the boost mode on an F75 or V3i, you already know that the additional power is often accompanied by additional noise. I’ve personally found limited use for those hopped-up modes… Usually, further analysis of a deep target in accommodating ground conditions.
  3. Yes, the grip looks much more ergonomic… Quite reminiscent of the $600 Nokta Legend.
  4. You can cover the speaker with your thumb 😉 or you can try this…
  5. The VLF arms race has fully pivoted to simultaneous multi frequency… It’s looking like a “have SMF technology or go home” situation for most manufacturers.
  6. I wonder if Minelab moved the battery from the handle up into the pod, like the N/M Legend? That and improved waterproofing might account for the increased thickness.
  7. Looks similar to the external battery receiver on the Legend.
  8. Some of the features sound a lot like White’s TX Boost and SignaGraph… I wish Minelab would also include a full color screen and the ability to analyze SMF signals independently.
  9. I always had excellent results with my TDI SL on saltwater beaches... Over the years, I‘ve scooped enough gold rings in the surf to pay for the machine 5 times over. Lightweight, easy to set-up and balance, with a rock solid threshold (even in highly-mineralized sand). Paired with the right loop it was a hard to beat package in the $1,000 price range. A lot of people don’t have, or don’t want, to drop $5,000-$7,000 on a high-end PI detector. The TDI Pro, TDI SL and TDI BH filled the $1,000 niche nicely. Those machines will be sorely missed by many surf and relic hunters, including myself.
  10. Any word from White's engineering if the new TDI BeachHunter can handle the 14.4v Li-ion (Reidman) battery? I'm assuming it's the same as TDI SL and there is no voltage regulator?
  11. You can set the tone break on the 800 to Low, Mid and High just like the AT Pro.
  12. Looks great at a fair price.... https://xtremescoops.com/ Anyone have any surf experience with one of these?
  13. Minelab, how about a 6" elliptical coil like everyone else has? C'mon, it would be a huge success!
  14. Steven, I hunt in the surf on a regular basis... I don't use a harness. Typically, my Minelab Excal is strapped to my right arm and my Stavr scoop, with a carbon fiber handle, is in my left hand. If your scoop is not too wide and heavy, but has large drainage holes, you will have no problem working it with one hand. When I'm out in the surf I allow the retreating wave to clear the sand from the scoop basket, leaving only the target behind. If I'm working the surfline, I'll dump the sand from the scoop just above water level, rescan, and retrieve the target. This technique is very efficient but requires the right scoop. My large holed Stavr scoop, including carbon fiber handle, is only 3 lbs 4 oz.
  15. Looks great Nakky! What's the correct OD and ID of the carbon shaft? Also, where did you get the Cam Locks?
  16. Tom, is there currently a coil cover that fits or does it come with one?
  17. Which carbon shaft did you order from Anderson?
  18. It's almost like finding a lump of coal in one's stocking on Christmas morning!
  19. I hope we all didn't just unwittingly place an open-ended preorder with Cabela's.
  20. Assuming they are all going by UPS, anyone who has signed-up for an online account with UPS can view all inbound packages, even without a Tracking#. My order is also showing as "Shipped", by Cabelas but as of now I have nothing inbound from UPS... I will keep any eye out today and tomorrow.
  21. Does anyone know what carrier Cabelas is using to ship the Equinox?
  22. JP, how did Minelab ship yours? USPS, UPS or FedEx? I agree, I'll never pre-order a detector either... Every time I did that in the past it seemed like everyone else received their equipment well before me.
