  1. SGD 4 x 18650 cells gets about 7 hours of decent voltage on the TDIBH šŸ‘
  2. Hello Ray I would love to get a V3i before they disappear forever......I certainly donā€™t need one as my XL Pro and MX7 is all I need really......and of course I would purchase from the USA directly ? I hope you are keeping well down in Tassie šŸ‘ Tony
  3. When a detector box is opened and batteries put in to test the unit and a coin is waved in front of the coil......technically.......it is now used and second hand.....used detectors can be sold out of the USA šŸ¤«
  4. The price on Whiteā€™s detectors in Australia was absolutely outrageous and I emailed the company letting them know exactly that. I managed to buy all of my Whiteā€™s detectors from US dealers who were not supposed to do so but they were good to me. The number of Aussies looking to buy Whiteā€™s products generally didnā€™t have this luxury and when they saw the local prices couldnā€™t run to Minelab fast enough. Whiteā€™s would have made some significant inroads into the Australian market by either selling directly from the USA or asking for a please explain from Aussie dealers for the exorbitant markups. I know we donā€™t have the volume of sales when compared to the US but that doesnā€™t account for the price differences. I got my TDIBH from the US for about $1500 Australian dollars.....local dealers here wanted about $2300. I saved $800 !!!
  5. To be perfectly honest, I kind of suspected bottlecaps would be a challenge with different alloys, state of decay, different depths....they even sound different depending on which way they are pointing up. The litterers could at least leave me the odd unopened one every now and again šŸŗ
  6. I swear that the Corona bottling plant is just down the road from me and not in Mexico.
  7. Well I guess eventually all physical money will die out......at one stage the Aussie government was going to replace the $5 note with a $5 coin but still waiting for that.
  8. It certainly read that way...I updated the earlier post with ā€œTDIBHā€.....plus Iā€™m waaaaay down here so no AQā€™s for some time šŸ˜©
  9. Well I donā€™t own the AQ šŸ™.....just going on Joeā€™s videos and targets used.
  10. A while back. I posted a question about the AQ and bottlecaps so that has been answered for me ! Bottlecaps are a nightmare down here on my beaches but the Excal does very well on these. I have dug as many 200 in one long hunt. If anyone finds a tactic to dealing with these on the AQ then please update. We also have many $1 and $2 coins which are lost in their thousands on the beaches and in the water. These ā€œgoldiesā€ are comprised of 92% Copper, 6% Aluminium, 2% Nickel which will be high conductivity on any detector. Are these sorts of targets ($1 and $2) sacrificed on the AQ in the pursuit of gold? (Assuming not running in AM) I usually average $1500 per year with these coins alone and they give a good indication of how popular a beach is and by their condition, a recent drop or not.
  11. Thatā€™s a nice pile of targets......On coin and ring sized targets, the TDIBH is about 2ā€ behind the AQ at maximum depths attainable. I really enjoy mine (TDIBH) but would prefer a smaller coil of about 10ā€ or so for hunting in the water. On the beach itself then the 12ā€ coil is fine. Tony
  12. Girlfriend/wife with beach house v having an AQ only........thatā€™s a tough one ā˜ļø
  13. Ohhhhhhh.....they look damn nice šŸ‘ Joe has saved me big time here.....my only other alternative was to have to buy the endcap WITH the crappy Koss headphones because that is how Minelab receive them from their supplier......Minelab do not have the single endcap part !! Joe definitely daā€™ man........
  14. Ah the Excalibur is still such a good workhorse.......hopefully my horse will be up and running soon.....thanks to Joe šŸ‘ Nice chunk of gold too !
  15. At least we can now prepare for the sticker shock of the ā€œBā€ model......that price has me worried for future AQ (beach/water) sales though. Then again, the market for these might be more than Iā€™m guessing. Could model B morph into something that caters for beach/water and land/nuggets. That would sell big time. Unless priced sharply, having two or three sub models of the AQ could be a problem.
  16. I was tempted to go up and have a look......only a couple hours drive from home. Id like to know the area he was returning from šŸ‘
  17. Great post Gerry.....and a nice refreshing change from all the doom and gloom about where Whiteā€™s are at. Iā€™m so tempted to go out and buy one of each just for the hell of it. I have three Whiteā€™s detectors but itā€™s not enough šŸ‘
  18. I know itā€™s early days and dealing with bottlecaps in general can be problematic....different alloys, different states of decay but is there or could there be a way of dealing with these with the AQ. The Excalibur does a very good job overall and only sometimes am I fooled into digging one or two. My best beaches for gold are ā€œBottlecap Beachesā€...... my use of PI detectors in these areas is a painful one and use of a VLF is mandatory. I once hunted for 8 hours with my old Garrett Seahunter and retrieved 118 bottlecaps amongst the goodies......šŸ¤¬ There is deep gold beneath these bottlecaps......šŸ‘
  19. For Steve.........ā€with great power comes great responsibilityā€ šŸ˜œ
  20. I even submerged my CZ20 for 10 minutes or so in a large tub of water before venturing into the salt water....I feel mine leaked over a longer period of time when out in the water.......I never over tightened the battery door, just good finger tightness only. Anyway, you may never have a problem. My post is just precautionary.....people have used these detectors for many years without leakage. When tightening the two steel knurled knobs, make sure you alternate between each one when doing them up as this ensures even seating of the gasket. Also ensure that the gasket is seated the correct way up as it looks as if it can be placed either way. One side has a higher rib and this must be facing the correct way on the battery door.....it will definitely leak if this is seated incorrectly. The manual highlights this. Good luck Tony
  21. The CZ20 PP button has a history of leaking which is why Fisher dropped it on the CZ21. I had a CZ21 for a few years and couldnā€™t fault the performance BUT the battery compartment had a history of leaking on me and causing major problems. I was meticulous in setting the gasket correctly and applying just the right amount of pressure on the battery lid knurled knobs......sometimes it leaked and sometimes it didnā€™t. I had three new gaskets which still didnā€™t fix the problem. Fisher assured me that I was doing everything correctly and by the book.......I guessed it leaked about 30% of the time. You must check the battery compartment as soon as you are out of the water to make sure no water....otherwise it will destroy the 4 x 9v battery holder very quickly. In the end, the CZ21 had to go....if I had my time again I would design an external battery compartment and never use the original one again except for the battery wires. Otherwise......great detector. PS.....I would consider sealing over the PP button if itā€™s not important to you. Auto tune is so precise that PP isnā€™t needed. Run the power high...mine never falsed. Disc set to hear iron and youā€™re good to go. I never used the GB function much but experiment either fully clockwise or fully anti clockwise as the depth performance can vary from model to model and depending on your ground conditions.
  22. Whiteā€™s detectors......built for that sort of treatment, year after year. šŸ‘
  23. Joe Appreciate the videos......the AQ is some gun šŸ‘ If possible, when you are videoing next can you approach the target from a few metres away and sweep normally over and past the target as if you didnā€™t know it was there..... Thanks, Tony
