  1. Thanks everyone. Bob, buddy you are Mr. clean sweep lol. YOu and that AQ seem to be doing well for what it is out there right now. My issue right now is .... TIME. Im not finding enough of it when the water is calm enough to get in. Im still hoping this 12" coil thats coming will get me closer in depth to your AQ buddy. Then if i can catch you on the beach we will drop a ring down a hole for some testing. Good Luck out there.
  2. Ill not complain about finding gold ..... especially this time of the year. Couple of plus' is .... few hunter except on warm sunny days more water movement, and larger tide swings moves things around. You just have to find the beginning of those cuts or the end where stuff gets sand moved off. We have truck loads in there right now ...... then the past couple of years we have really gone thru beach renurishment. First thing that happens is...... a lot of that sand end up in the water and slowly moves South near shore. You end up doing more recent drop hunting unless we get a huge storm/hurricane. The beach also has to redesign its self. So there is an advantage for the local hunters knowing the beach...... knowing what it looked like during the season changes and where the rips, cuts and pile ups were.
  3. This ain’t much 10k 2.2 grams with fake stones. Weather is changing and I’ve just been busier than I need to be. 49 when I got to the beach with a stupid wind.... hit the water and to me not having been in it ... it was cool. Never seen another person swinging a coil anywhere. So looks like some are waiting for more sun. Dug a couple more trash ring.... and very few targets. You just have to find the targets now and move a littler slower.
  4. Let me know ahead of time so I don’t follow you down the beach Bob. Right now I’m hoping you are getting the trash out of my way before you totally learn it lol.
  5. The competition doesnt bother me especially if i have a deeper machine.....and the time on the machine. As far as showing what you find...... those finds are important to those on the fence and they are realistic. Showing those kind of finds alone with the mode and how you hunted the area along with the difficulties also shorten the learning curve for others and may get you suggestions on how to adjust the machine a bit. Joes thats good to know...... because that big coil i a little difficult to get in a hole. I assume the virus was the reason for the coil delay? Any word on the production model release day or UPGRADES short of what was posted? Sounded like mostly hardware stuff. By the way you are getting some good reviews on that long run battery.
  6. I dont find this unusual with the limited amount of machines. We see it with the MDT too. I scratch my head as to why. Some just bought it to hunt with and if its doing good why advertise. But .... people like to see results and THATS what sells more machines. The other side of that coin is..... when you sell a LOT of machines people focus on whats breaking. The number of hunters especially water hunter is starting to slow down with the weather and lack of contributors. If you like the machine and want it to succeed and develop into the next generation..... well posting or talking about it is how that gets done. Here in Fl...... now is the perfect time for this type machine with the tide shifts, north winds which move sand more naturally south, and fewer hunters willing to get wet..... you can spend more time NOT chasing recent drops.
  7. Bob how’s that warranty work? If it’s in their shop over a month do they extend it? On the bright side ... sort of.... weather isn’t great.
  8. Many after market shaft makers are using this style. I did them really far superior and they don’t go bad. One thing I do suggest for water hunters .... if it only has one button spring clip swap it out and make it two. Coil size and water torque will still allow movement.... and WILL wear the lower CF shaft
  9. Bob, i got Virus tested and influenza tested yesterday..... NEG, Of course that was my worst concern. I think it just something my grandson gave me over the week end while visiting from college. Brutial stuff....but feeling better. Looks like we need to batten down the hatches with this blow coming. Been the worth fall season...... making it difficult to hunt in the water. Got my fingers crossed we dont get it and it dont tear up the beaches bad after all OUR money went into renurishment in May. Those chains are money makers..... but hard to come by. Hate finding charms with unbroken clasps..... means likely the chain is SOMEWHERE out there. But those charms normally because they have a surface are far away from that chain. Good luck out there let me know when you have that AQ dialed in.
  10. I’d done this post sooner but I’m really under the weather. Anyway, me and Cliff hit the beach Sunday at 4am... why because I forgot to set my clock back. Cliff had his AQ and we wanted to do some testing... but we forgot the targets. So we did do some found target comparison. It reminded me why I don’t do a lot of wet sand hunting. Deep hole and a lot of them wit us concentrating on whisper/weak targets. Cliff did his 5 hours and had one of those days.... he broke his SunSpot scoop. After he left I did another 3 hours. There hasn’t been a lot of targets out there but I managed the silver ring and this nice 375 made in Italy bracelet. 9” long 13 grams .... $325 day I’ll take that. Always great to hunt with friends.
  11. I have a beach like that. When i get high winds most every machine i use is affected by the power lines..... which are a good ways away from the beach its self. I dont notice it as much .... or just dont pay attention to it maybe in AM. Running hot i get a jumpy screen.... but it still pretty telling when i hit a target. Also like most machines when i get in the water and the screen and coil is dunked all that goes away. I hunt in a pretty good long shore drift occasionally and the only thing ive noticed that affects it is that gray minerlized sand mixed in the hard pan. Might be site specific. People hunting in disc or mixed mode have to adjust their machines to suit the conditions more than in AM..... much like the Xcal. In a hard pan where there is a lot of minerals i do get more POPS .... like Chase said, i just move the SB up a couple of notches and it goes away. I assume much like Aaron and Keith showed in their video on how to disc out foil using the SB.
  12. You take lunch? Man I don’t even take a water break. I’m 68 and this year I’ve had some health issues so I’m not hunting as much. Ask Cliff lol. I assume a 12 1/2” coil and digging more targets would keep you busy though.
  13. I hear you .....but some of us do it. I appreciate you upping the power to around 6 hours. But you get what im say. We have gotten used to detectors that goes almost a week..... spoiled i guess. Then Joe does it .... i have to believe you could offer a similar battery.... maybe even saving us some money in the process. Carolina.... its complicated lol. But no to answer your question. Im thinking there maybe some changes on the production model i like. Yes Cliff, Shawn, and Bob .... who are local all have them and are in the learning process.
  14. So now I have to ask.... surely Fisher is seeing this. Even 6 hours on their production model isn’t close to this. If Joe can do this in his garage as inexpensive as he’s doing it .... why can’t they? Joes been the innovator now for the Xcal and now seems the problem solver for the run time. His design is clean... and works. Run time has been my biggest complaint.
  15. Keith Southern, who you may know, is a relic hunter. He may live in the region as well. I was using the NOTCH for high digits as well but was following some of his posts. Me and Cliff both switched to the -30 setting because we found hearing the iron less distracting and we did find it moved more targets out of the non-ferr area or made them more distinguishable. Let me know and I can put you in contact with Demitar. He really welcomes feed back.
  16. I spoke to Demitar a bit today. He told me to ask you if you tried black sand on. I’m curious where you are located? Must be close to culpepper. Best of luck on the machine. If you have any questions Demitar I can get you in contact.
  17. i did mean -30. Thats more for iron recognition tones. I was getting a lot more wrap around tones from iron hitting in say the 28 range so setting disc at that range or higher still gave me more broken high tones than i wanted. Ive not found any targets YET that hit in that 28 to +30 range that i remember. A good hit on a quarter is around 21 even deep for me. As far as coil bump falsing..... i hunt in AM HOT and get only a quick POP from that .... i do a lot more screen watching.... but when i cant see the screen i REVERSE DISC and switch to disc tones. I might walk away from a high tone with mixed iron tone...... just because ive not found any gold thats sounded off as iron YET. Another advantage for my purpose using AM is all the tones sound the same loud like using an Explore in high gain .... rarely do i get a weak tone signal. I get short broken ones thou. Those are normally deep targets. What i see is a very good relic machine, but no its not a PI, but with it being adapted for beach hunting you are getting a relic machines depth with SINGLE freqs able to adapt to the salt water. IMO.... having a salt balance would be a real benefit on any water machine. Ive used the AquaSound which is the only other machine i know of with a SB. It was 14Khz designed for treasuring hunting only here in Fl. Tendall of Nautilus designed it. It has a real black sand problem.....but in cleaner sand extremely deep. Single freq machine have always been know as NOT working in or near salt water. We will be playing around Sunday with both the AQ and MDT. Doing some target comparison and checking the depth on some gold. Im interested to see how it does especially with the AQ in disc modes. Thinking ahead should we see that 12" coil. A smaller operation certainly effects the cost of coils and which might be made. But i can see the need in your case of a small coil as i can for a larger one for us. Im seeing a few UK guys getting the machine now.
  18. Chase try running your disc at -30 it tends to stop some of the wrap around high tones. Your report is much better than i could give for dirt. I really dont know how i would run it in those conditions. Ive not had any trouble running it in AM even on a trashy beach and i get a lot of upscaling on aluminum and it appears it does take density into consideration. This upscaling id assume could affect a coin hunter, thou it sounds off well over a target. My hunting also is more ...... is it a target..... is it iron? The machines pretty darn good at both on a beach and in the water. Tom made mention there maybe news of the larger 12" coil soon. The price tag maybe steep for dirt hunters .... not so much for beach guys when you compare it to anything but the Nox...... and frankly its quieter than a Nox in the salt water. Im hoping the coil connector gets moved to the center of the coil as well.....ive had mine moved and it really give it even better balance and im not having to adjust the coil or tighten it. Very good report.......
  19. Clive is that like plumbers putty with a metal backing...... like used on air conditioning? Im still looking at that cable being far out in front of the lower shaft. Do you not get a lot of vibration from it? Id think if its picking up the cable not run up the lower shaft there has to be some noise from that vibration.
  20. I appreciate all the videos as someone learns.......you get a lot of info as they learn and from their targets. These videos have a lot of exposure/marketing value too now days. Theres a learning curve to some machine. We all know most gold targets in the 8" range with our current water machines..... as we say ..... its who ever gets their coil over it first. Even the newbies....... that blind squirrel finds a nut. Im not really critical about anyones video.......... its more about what are they finding and hows it comparing to other machines ive used.... depth and sensitivity. Their game will improve......as will their finds and settings as more buy the machine and talk about it. Run time for every target takes time....... and frankly, sometimes you dig an unexpected surprise that you just didnt video from the beginning lol. Its very time consuming to do videos and edit them....... and it takes away from hunting time out there. Right now theres only 3.5 hours on the battery as well. So do you hunt ... or do you video? Some dont want others to think they are bragging as well. Id love to see more videos........ post um if ya got um.
  21. I had read that. Dang stuff is just not wanting to go away. Dont care whos in charge getting a handle on this is crazy difficult all over the world. Its dismantling every countries economy. I wish all those in the hot spots now to be safe..... be smart. Hoping Fisher hangs in there....... it must be frustrating for them.
  22. Ive had one for the past couple of years..... no. 26 machine. Im a beach hunter. Obviously there isnt nearly the number of people who have these as the some of the machine from large companies. There are 3 others i know here in Fl near me with the machine. ALL rarely use their other machines now. If you like the Xcal ran in PP mode you will like this machine running in AM. It reminds me of a relic machine adapted for beach hunting. It likes iron which is a good thing in that it will ID iron very well. When im hunting......first i want to locate a target, the deeper the better, then i want to know .... is it iron? The machine in AM is quieter than an Xcal..... ya hard to believe. Those false signals in AM from say minerals ... give you a popping sound which is easily ignored. When i went to buy this machine NO ONE was posting their finds..... or even talking that much about this machine. I had a lot of questions for Tom Dankowski at the time before i bought one. It seemed to be a real mastery machine..... still kind of is. Its pricy compared to the Nox ....but most machines seem to be. looking at the other salt water machine thou....... CTX, Xcal, CZ.... its really over priced especially for its build. One battery.......$5 to replace and you get two. Those batteries are unbelievable. Beach hunters also pay for their equipment FAST so we dont look at cost ....and plan for repairs. I have posted many of my finds...... but i try not to post on every site and not all my finds. Frankly id prefer not to post them at all but i feel this machine deserves a good nod as a beach machine. I think its just that good. It really upped my game the first year. This years been difficult with the virus for every beach hunter no matter the machine. Plus many of our Gulf beach were renurished on top of it. I cant speak as a relic hunter...... but i now see some of the guy in the UK with them. Most ive seen are liking the machine.
  23. Joe, buddy, you are just to darn famous...... expect more NDAs. Sooooo are you allowed to spill the beans on what that additional 15% power consumption gets us?
  24. Many of us are not coin hunting.......it turns into SOMETHING TO DIG if there just aint nothing out there. We chase a lot of recent drops here in Fl, but during the winter things slow down and with the greater tide swings targets gather and get moved around...... you just have to work to find them. Theres a LOT of water to cover...... and in the Gulf we dont have nearly the wet sand area so it get hammered. However, its also where more black sand and deep targets are. Patience really is a virtue. Depth and coverage becomes an asset. Many of the beaches have been renurished......with the ones farther North of me just now opening to better pay days again. Can slaw, bottle caps and hair pins will be our greatest challenge. In all honesty...... 2 tones can be a really good thing......it just needs to be able to ID IRON. Thats a huge part of the game especially with a PI. Theres obviously a learning curve to the guys around me with the machine.......most have not used a PI in some time if at all. The machine is just unique enough most wont be selling them used very soon. I mean who dont want a machine available as deep as an Eric Foster machine? Many of the water machines had the popular 8" coil....... with the extra power use i assume that also equates to greater depth .....and i also assume that equals the larger coil making it easier to work areas you just cant with the large coil AND you can get the coil in the hole. Lets see how that changes the game.
  25. Clive..... as a full time water hunter....we know you need a good machine that first can tell you theres a deep target down there other machines miss.... or that you just didnt realize it was a target. Then all i need to know is ........ is it iron. I do NOT dig every target, nor does anyone else no matter what they say, we pass (or guess) on some targets we think we know....... like very shallow ones..... bottle caps and pull tabs. We all know the gold range on VLFs....... so many a day i just dont dig iron or high conductors like coins and.... yes even silver/copper. Two tones work......the less the machine has to process the better. I dont mind digging a little iron...... if the window includes all the gold on the disc mode. We do that now........deep bottle caps are a good example.
