  1. Joe.......i know you dont want a J O B.....so it would be really nice if Fisher would do something like this to get the run time NEEDED. No need to re-invent the wheel on those connectors........ use a connector easily obtained for both the cables. In the long run it wont net anymore profit...... but will help the customers who likes their own headphones. Joe has proven ..... necessity is the mother of invention. Good work buddy......looks sharp.
  2. And thus is the reason many PIs arent used as a daily machine. Here in Fl......you can see those babies all over out there just outside of the sand bars during season. One bad storm and they become a problem. How many see those ROPES deep in the sand...... we all know what they are. PIs even with the ability to disc right now are still a USE IT IN THE RIGHT LOCATION.....but a machine worth having if they are deep. Winters here in Fl ...are excellent times to use a PI. Things get moving with tides swings which can cause more wave action. That of course causes more trash to treasure issues and there will always be a debate on which machine to take. We have beaches here where some are can slaw...... some bottle caps.... and some ....ammo pieces.... and yes some have a lot of iron/crab traps. Using a PI can be like using a pattern search on a VLF..... acceptable losses.... or a whole lot of digging it all.... to a point. I think Joe uses the dig the whisper method. Most of us here in FL would have to change the way we think because of recent drops. Most find it difficult to NOT dig it all except for what we disc out with our VLFs.......and its always .... i might miss a chain or large piece of silver jewelry. NO ONE likes to dig trash...... but you have to learn some and accept the rest..... or switch machines for that beach.
  3. Curious....... does any of those come with a screen protector? The one i have did not. To me the screen is more important to protect than the buttons even. Also ....those sided buttons...... makes you wonder if they could be the source of those water leaks.
  4. Joe....... you are right you have to have a bit of noise unfortunately to pick up those targets ..... filtering isnt always our best friend as we have learned by running the Xcal in PP mod. I still find it pretty amazing the Xcal is still the STANDARD other water machines are judged by..... especially since it has a 10" coil and most are running an 11 or larger now days. Makes ya wonder what ML might get out of the old girl with a tuned 11".
  5. I dont know if i want you to have a battery that keeps you out there longer than3 hours lol. GL with the machine..... and hopefully if you have any issues Fisher will be as good/fast as they have been with our Noxs.
  6. Joe, i sold Cliff a pair of TEs (i had 6 pair) the other day that had a M12 for your battery. He seemed to like them on the AQ. What i noticed on the Nox was speakers like say in Harolds phones didnt have much modulation and were a bit louder than Tonys, but Tonys had the modulation which made sizing of the target better and didnt pick up nearly as much mineralization so ya you loose some of the faints..... but to me the noise factor was worth their use. With this machine id think with its depth they would work the same. For me and i think a lot of the serious guys water hunting we tend to try various headphones or make them. So ..... if the companies would use a standard connector man that sure helps.
  7. Okara....... is this BOB??? Ha..... Joe if it is hes as bad as me on equipment. Snapped headphones, dead coils/broken ears and yes he was the first guy EVER that i know of to rip his right off the shaft lol. The mans an animal hunter...... doesnt miss a speck of sand i have to get there an hour before him or he gets it all. Impressive to watch hunt. Didnt Bob buy one of your AQ batteries Joe? Waiting on the lower piece ML forgot to send with the pod and have a nice handle. So once i get it ill get it wet. Does ANYONE have any idea what is causing the flooding of these machines? I had NO issue with mine. Some didnt .... put it up for awhile then it went. Think its the speaker area? I normally keep mine sealed with a nylon sticker. Im wondering if some of the liquid plastic i have that cures with UV is needed around the heat seal? I grew up on a farm Midalake....... so i know what ya mean about fixing things.
  8. Midalake......waiting on the bottom part of my Pod. In the mean time ..... ive got a really good one ....plunger i think. going to wait to see if i can since im using an Anderson shaft. I may have to drill another hole for the pod to set into if i have to move it forward. But with me just water hunting this seems like a good idea..... might look a little funky but some mods do lol.
  9. Non-transferable...... hopefully not since the next version is going to be substantially more expensive. Many of us dont like the Xcal for that very reason with its 1 year warranty. Thats a classy looking machine and i like the upgrades considered .... any time frame for release yet or will this virus push it further into next year? So those batteries will get about 6 hours? Im kind of hoping Joe will jump on board with this one as well to give us 8 hours. Personally id buy Joes idea and add it to the machine from the get go. Thanks for these updates Steve.
  10. Shame we have to do a mod for this .... but i suspect anyone using the machine in the water ... especially with the large coil should consider this. Salt water enters that area where the battery is thru the shaft hole..... plastic, well it gets brittle and we put a lot of torque on it. Thanks for the mode ... i like it. Especially since i have no idea apparently what 1.0 Nm is lol. I just grab a driver and get-er tight. Midlake.... am i seeing those handles kind of flat in the WRONG direction? Good for bikes....but seems the wrong angle for us.
  11. Im confused as to what you use as a grip if the pod is the grip? We also have to understand .......Aluminum vs CF. Size can vary, but im not of the opinion it has much to do with size. Im more incline putting metal into hardened plastic with the torque some of us put on that pod with constant use in the water is the cause.
  12. My point was move about the method than the coil. I went thru just as many Xcal cover and one even on the Nox. As far as the MDT...... he upgraded them. They are pretty darn tuff. But you can see why i use a coil cover and take extra care. $30 bucks a pop no matter whos cover it is get pricy. Id love to think i could do without a cover on this machine. Has anyone said how much a new coil is? Yes .... i need to check them more.
  13. Last week my battery conked out. The Nox ran on the charger..... but not the battery. I called Keith Leppert my dealer out of Fort Bedford Metal Detectors, where by the way ML repair is, and asked him what i needed to do. He gave me a phone number and they gave me an RMA to send the machine in. When i took the machine apart ... i noticed stress cracks in the plastic mounts that holds the bolts in on the pod. She added that to my battery issue. They received it on Friday and i got a message from John who said they would get right on it, but because of the Virus there could be a delay but to please be patient and they would let me know. 3 more Emails on Monday from different people lol. Thanking me for choosing ML, my machine was repaired and heres the tracking number. Never said what they did....... so i contacted Kieth late in the evening. Next morning he said they replaced the pod. Thats a high five to ML in my book. They have just been awesome to me on this machine. Keith as a dealer ...... great to deal with, id highly recommend him any day. He will spend the time talking to you about hunting as well as a machine if you have the time ...... he takes the time. Plus..... the ML repair shop is right there. I happened to check those bolt mounts because two friends had they pods break completely off the shaft. Keith said the after market shafts maybe the issue. Apparently the OD on some maybe to small. So people are over tightening them. Also if its to small it wears the CF enough they get re-tightened. Keiths word of caution .... take care in tightening those bolts.
  14. I cant say ive ever had a coil go bad by banging it around. But i use a coil cover and epoxy it. Its not the loss of depth, weight, cost. its because i really wear a coil cover out. Heres a picture on a couple ive got setting around. On my Xcals until i started using epoxy i was going thru them fast. I dont hunt as much now but then it was like 5 months and id start seeing real wear.
  15. Really uped the game Joe with this one. When he said 11 hours i was expecting a pair of jumper cables connected to a car battery lol. Thats a huge improvement tha makes the machine more desirable..... as will a 3 meter depth and transferable warranty. These LIFE issues have plagued many of us this year. Bless you buddy.
  16. Those darn .50 casings get crazy deep here..... as do sunglasses. Dig a few thou and i know their sound.... and one scoop tells me the size. Ive dug a few holes now for gold rings out deep where i was straddling the hole. After the second scoop you go oh is it on the side of the hole.......but no, still dead in the middle so you think .... this aint no gold ring.
  17. I was going thru a couple of coils with the Xcal...... and other machines for beach use a year. I wear the heck out of a coil cover. I use LocTite Marine Epoxy....its white so i can tell where the wear is and like was said..... i can put more on as needed. You can spread it on once mixed with your finger and it dont run all over the place. Its like 3700 psi strong. I dont believe anyone would find this a reason not to buy on a resale. The non-tranferrable warranty would be more likely.
  18. Looking at those bottle caps Cliff...... a lot of people might dig a good many of those. Corona, bud, and those with a bit of copper in the lids. I avoid most of them especially the shallow ones just because we know they are high conductors. Charles....it must be your location, because ive got a lot of time on both those machines and an Xcal wont get the depth of the MDT.... PP mode or not here in Fl. Anyone know the guys in Calf who might have an AQ? Ive got someone interested in taking a look at one. Cliff ...... you are starting to bring it buddy. Gold is picking up for you. Like Tim im getting some rings, but gold is hard to come by on my beaches. But this week may shake some out if we get the sand moving in one direction..... besides N or toward shore. GL out there.....and thanks for coming along the other day. Joe ... congrats on that battery and its run time.
  19. Joe..... impressive finds. Question........ do you happen to know how many and who got these machines in Calf? Anyone needing a battery upgrade should see you. I got a look at yours Sat.......as usual you do great work. Hoping you get your 100 again this year buddy........
  20. Thomas... Cliff wouldn’t let me touch his machine lol. We really didn’t get to compare targets. He was running the trough to see if it was worth continuing to hunt this beach. We were working it hard. We talked a bit and I was pretty close... I heard his machine low and constant but I honestly don’t think it would have bothered me hunting. Didn’t ask Tim who was using the Xcal. Joes battery was well done... and the machine very well balanced.
  21. He’s the best of it from all three of us. Not sure what Cliff dug... I got the HK designer silver ring with diamond chips and the other. First place we hunted I got 3 cents ... that was the good stuff lol. Second beach weather changed ... heavy wind made the water ruff. Waist deep ... anything deeper and you got pounded. It had potential.... but a couple of hours with the wind, waves and no sun water got chilly. Enjoy hunting with Cliff. Got a good look at his AQ.
  22. I dont take anything personal......unless its obvious lol. Otherwise i learn a lot from peoples opinions and comments. Hope the machine keeps your attention Chase, id like to hear what you think. Who dont like real opinions ....... good, bad, and ugly. Thomas.... ill sent you the video of the hammer job Demitar was doing on the screen plastic. Humm i cant even Zip file it Thomas and send it Email for some reason it keeps saying to large. some kind of a movie formate maybe.
  23. Thomas im embarrassed to say ive moved a lot of my photo/videos im not certain where it is. My computer photos were a mess so .... im was moving and deleting.....ill check to see if its on my external HD. Im certain i posted it on Toms LONG thread. I run it down for you.
  24. Thomas, yes there are 4 single freqs. But my testing found 9 and 6.5 the better choices IN the salt water...... especially waist to chest deep. I could run 12 and 18khz..... but my salt sensitivity was up around 44. On really deep targets i was getting longer cleaner tones from 9. 12 was short more chopped....... and sounded weaker. So i saw no need to run those two freqs and possibly miss targets. Would they do better on smaller gold........i dont think so since ive not found anything that ive found with the Nox or Xcal that cant be found by this machine in the water. Out of the water and in some shallow ........yes i like 12khz...... as you move away from the water i may switch to 18.
  25. It is more pricy than the Nox....... but most water machines are. Take the Xcal, they upgrade the shaft, the knobs, knob protector, and to get the best out of it better headphones and a PP switch which if done by ML is hard wired. 1 year warranty as well. Thats pricy. But ... in the water IMO the Xcal is quieter and all things become equal sensitivity and depth wise. Heres where the MDT can have an advantage with its Salt Balance it can be run much like the Xcal and i feel its a little quieter in AM. The SB will allow you to get about the same depth in the salt water as wet sand..... not so with the Nox. I dont really consider price because most of us water hunters pay our machines off quickly. There is that difference in warranty. It moves a little less efficent in the water not because of the coil (which has real good buoyancy) but more that the shaft is a bit thicker. You have multi freq with the Nox..... here you have at least 3 single freqs that can be used in the water with 9 and 6.5 being the more efficient. Thus far ive not heard of a lot of flooding with this machine even with its IP rating. Out of the water the Nox has an advantage with its other settings/modes. Really fun machine to play with ..... look forward to how you do with it.
