  1. Sittingelf Awesome. I have a park like you just found. I have been averaging $4 - $6 in 2 hour hunts. I have pulled $16 in 5 hours over the st 3 days. I am pretty much using the same settings as you are. . The park is a nice rectangle and I hunted it the long way now hunting it horizontally and doing just as well. No silver with the exception of a cpl of silver rings. As soon as I finish my coffee I am headed out again this morning
  2. Thanks Steve I never really thought about a coil being dumb or smart. I thought all coils were created pretty much equal except for size. I am not sure a different coil can make the Equinox much better but knowing myself I can see one being delivered to my home when they hit the market. Everyday I come home after a cpl hours of hunting and I am still amazed how good the Equinox is.
  3. Gold tabs are gold colored tabs from beer cans. I went to a hunted out park the other day that I had hunted really hard and it is finally hunted out until next soccer season. I will hunt this park until I know there is pretty good chance I am wasting my time. If I am at a park for over an hour and find nothing I leave and won't come back until they have another event there. I honestly think this park has another $50 or so in clad. I don't swing as tight as I should so I know I probably miss a 6" path every 2nd pass. That's why I am hunting it in a horizontal direction this time. I have an old soccer park I am trying next. Hasn't been used in 10 yrs so unless someone has hit it pretty hard I think it could be great for some silver. Tomorrow or late this afternoon I am hitting the beach
  4. I took my 600 out for the 2nd time this morning and rehunted a park that I had just pulled $100 in clad from it. I decided to hunt horizontally in the park this morning and wasn't expecting much because of the amount of clad I pulled out and someone else has been hunting the park as well. I went about 50' and got a 25 signal and it turned out to be a penny. I continued on and got a mixed signal so I dug because the vdi bounced from 24 -27 and pretty much settled on 24. I dug and found a penny then I was still getting a tone with my pinpointer and dug again and found a dime then was still getting tone so I dug again and out comes a quarter. Another 10' and I found two quarters stacked and the vdi bounced 31-32 and I thought it was going to be junk. I kept hunting for 2 more hours and found a total of $8.82 and I did better today than I have on any day in that park. The 600 is every bit as good as the 800. I have a love affair with both the 600 and 800. I made a small tweak this morning and I won't touch it again. No nickels even though I have 12 and 14 rejected. I did find some gold tabs but no nickes. I am staying in this park until I find less than 50 cents in a 2 hour hunt.
  5. I find myself looking for wireless headphones and I don't need them. I find myself getting caught up in the frenzy over things. As bad as my memory is getting I may have bought an extra set of headphones and don't know it.
  6. Make sure you get the english version of screen protectors otherwise your display and numbers may show up as chinese or some other format..
  7. For me it's pretty simple. I never took to the Etrac and never took to my V3i even though I did well with both. The Etrac was simple in comparison to the V3i but I just never liked either. I prefer to swing faster and although I don't like digging coins over 8" deep I like the depth. I never got used to the faint sounds either of them were giving me and I dug way more trash than I should have. I love the separation of the Equinox it seems hit on every coin even there are multiple coins close to each other. It's all about what we like. I hunted with a buddy that had a CTX and he'd been hunting over 30 years and I did as well with my AT Pro and V3i as he did with his CTX. I chalked it up to luck. He hit a find of $240 silver dollars at an old tavern site that had been hunted to death.
  8. Well I am going to ask $650 including shipping.. I just got my E-600 and my E-800 back from being repaired and the E-600 is every bit as good as the E-800. I only bought the E-800 for the gold feature because I go to AZ and NV every year and want to try searching for gold. Again I took out the 600 today for the 1st time and hunted the same park as I did with the 800 and I found 9 quarters and one dime in less than a hour and I found 7 quarters and 8 dimes with the 800 in an hour. I have now pulled out over $100 in that park and as many pock marks as there are someone else had to do equally as good. I need to grid the park because i am finding coins in areas I already hunted so by extrapolating I am guessing there is another $50. I also hit a hunted out soccer park and it is finally hunted out. I found one penny in an hour and the last time I was there I only found about $1 with my E-Trac
  9. Every detector loves pull tabs but you have to learn the tab tone vs the nickel tone. Those gold tabs will fool you once in a while but if you want nickels and gold that rings up like a nickel you're going to hit a few tabs. You can usually tell a tab by going to all metal and pumping it then go back to park 1 or park 2
  10. I hit enter by accident but I took the 800 out for about an hour 1st and everything is perfect. I did notice the quarters were coming up at 29-30 and before it was repaired they were 28-29. The pinpoint issue of fading is all about where you start to pinpoint. It faded one time but that was where I started to pinpoint. Then I took out the 600 and the results were great. I cannot tell any difference in the performance of the 600. I found 9 quarters with the 600 and 7 quarters with the 800 but 1 dime with 600 and 7 dimes with 800. Whatever setting I used on the 600 is near perfect. No chatter and very quiet. I need to tweak the 800 to match the 600 because the 800 had some slight chatter. My advice to anyone unless you will hunt gold in your future the 600 is just as good in park 1 and park 2. I haven't been to the beach yet with either but will next week. I myself debated about the 600 or 800 and went with the 800 1st because I go to AZ and NV almost every year and want to try gold hunting. I also like a spare detector for my grandson when he visits and I am selling my E-Trac.
  11. I got my 800 back from repair yesterday and my 600 was also delivered at the same time. I
  12. I screwed up I didn't see your 2nd post With the oldest 50 and the youngest 30 196
  13. I got my 800 back from Minelab yesterday and they replaced the control pod. I am headed out to hunt shortly and I will see if the pinpoint is the same as it was before. Meaning sometimes it goes silent when you pass over the target but comes back if you move away and sweep again. More often than not I chalk up anomalies to inexperience and as long as the detector seems to be working fine and I blow it off. My experience with other detectors that seemed to be acting crazy was me not having it set right or even forgot to ground balance and a few times it was emi. I seemed to go through it with every new detector I bought. The 1st 100 hours I was ready to trash can them several times. The Equinox is different and I fell in love with it in the 1st 4 hours but that may have been because I was finding keepers from the 1st 5 minutes.
  14. Thanks Chase, it's 5:40 am right now and having coffee waiting for the sun to come up. A nice 68 degrees so if the sun rises before i finish my coffee I am outta here. Both detectors are fully charged and I am going to see if the wireless headphones work with the 600 and if so I will be happy. One thing that never dawned on me is how simple it is to assemble and disassemble the Equinox. Yesterday when I received them I had them both assembled in less than 10 minutes. One more thing as to why I know it's a new control pod . The most telling sign is the serial number on the control pod because I went back and checked what the other one was and this one is different also the arm cuff was off and there would have been no reason for Minelab to remove it.
  15. Yes they had me send in everything including headphones and accessories. I know it's the same coil because I didn't clean it as well as the rest of the detector. I went out and looked at it again and it's definitely a new control pod. Both detectors are charged up and ready to hit the ground in the morning.
  16. Our beaches aren't the best but most people that detect on them are tourists and usually have inexpensive detectors. I have seen them waist deep in a hole next to a steel storm sewer line. The won't listen when you tell them it's the sewer line they are getting a signal from. I am pretty sure I am the only guy with an 800 within 100 miles from me and I also have a 600 for back up I am used to digging tabs, cans and bottle caps on the beach
  17. You're right Chase after going out and looking at it closely it is a new control pod. I cleaned it up good before I sent it in but I can tell the control pod is brand new so I guess that's good news. Either the other control pod couldn't be fixed or they kept it to do an autopsy on it. The battery was fully charged when I sent it in and this battery has about 1/2 charge..
  18. My 800 was just delivered along my new 600. I am charging the 600 so that will be a cpl of hours or more. I turned the 800 on and it seems fine but haven't tried it yet. There was no repair ticket in the box so I don't know what they did. There was a new screen protector on so but that's the only noticeable thing they did Tomorrow is going to be a full day of hunting. Going to test the 800 to see it works fine and use the 600 to get used to it.
  19. What did the gold ring up at? Just curious I am going to try next weekend
