  1. I know myself if I buy a Equinox it will be the E 800. Right now all I want to know is the big question and that's when will it hit the market so I can buy one. I need to move something before I buy another detector but it's not going to be a detector. The first thing to go will be the money in my piggy back and then a gun maybe. A detector in the price range of the Equinox the correct term is what's under the hood. A detector in the price range of the GPZ 7000 the correct term is what's under the bonnet. Now you know the rest of the story. Chuck
  2. Well I got my GM 1000 back this morning. The Tech said he couldn't find anything wrong with the unit but just maybe on the small coil when bump. I got a new 5 in. still in the plastic bag but hadn't been tested on my detector. I put it together and didn't turn it on until I got outside. The sensitivity was set at 10 and the detect mode set to gold. When I did turn it on all I heard was snap crackle and pop. I tried to detect like it was but it was falsing some just on my carpet grass and also when I bump the coil on a tree. Now I if I back down off the sensitivity to 5 or 6 it settle down. The other way was to set it on Auto-Sensitivity. It's a mineral belt about a hundred miles from me that next week I will take it for a real test. I'd say it's as near the type of ground if you were in gold country. You can find some gold but very little. I meet one guy did find one small gold nugget and one silver also and he has been looking a long time. Until then. Chuck
  3. I walk into a major electronics store here or see their ad it's says Good Better Best. I'd say most of us try to stay in the income level we're in. This wholes true when we are looking for a detector to buy. This may not whole true anymore with the price drop of some high dollar detectors that we see coming on the market. When we see a price drop we also see that product put in the price range of more buyers. You're not a good buyer anymore you've gone beyond that and you find yourself buying the best. It may been a hard push to get there but you know that detector will be the best for you for years to come. In 91 I put down 725.00 dollars for a at that time was a high dollar detector but it still detects The thing is all these years later for almost the same money I can buy a detector that will run circles around my old one. That's my thinking but I want to know yours. Chuck.
  4. If you I wouldn't sit on the trouble with the large coil. The time is ticking away on your warranty. That stand on the GM is less than worthless. We should be sending it back on that alone. I see the same stand on the Equinox but someone on here said it would be different when it hits the market. Back to the GM. I like the looks of the shaft the Equinox is on. I'm going to try to get one for my GM and maybe the stand too if better. Chuck
  5. Not being happy with what we got is what keeps the push on detector companies to come out with something better. If a car company could make the same looking car every year they would do it. The thing they know if they don't make a change each year then why would we want to buy the same year after year. We know a detector company can't come out with something every year. The detector is not just on what's on the outside but what's under the hood too. Chuck
  6. I think I could show more interest in any of Garrett detectors but in my opinion they try to put too much info in such a small area. They could take a lesson from White's and let it pop up on the screen on what you detected. This looks like what Minelab is doing the same as White's with a big and better display so all has no trouble to see. I don't see myself buying anything from Garrett until they do. White's has some for the same reason I wouldn't buy either. The young will buy the small screen but with a large one the younger and older will buy. So detector companies you want your sales to go up then come out with a larger display. Chuck
  7. Hang on to your seat this a funny one. I just got a text from Minelab repair center saying my repair on my GM 1000 was complete. Whoever said I could pick it up anytime. I ask them if they would be so kind to ship it back to me. I told them it was a long drive for me. I did ask what they had done to it but no reply as of yet. Is that not odd? Chuck
  8. J I think we may be seeing the twin of the MX Sport . I base this on the face looks the same as the MX. The bright color around the face may to let you know up front that this detector is water proof. Just looking at the MX you wouldn't know it was water proof but by the color says it. White's really needs a new PI other than the TDI SL. Now if it's a VLF and they want to draw in the nugget hunter plus the coin hunter they for sure will have to put their thinking cap on. It will have some of what the Equinox has to offer but on the nugget hunting it will have to pass the Gold Monster on detecting nuggets. I would think it will be almost impossible to accomplish this in the short time they got. I wish all the best to White's and Minelab plus us the buyer. Chuck
  9. I just don't understand why White's have been sitting on their hands and saying nothing of what's may be coming. The only thing whatsoever it is it's got to be so hot it will melt a candy bar in your pocket. When you lag behind the power curve you may never pass up your rival. Right now White's rival is Minelab but could be others may jump on the band wagon of new detectors coming out. I just know this is no time to be sleeping. My trouble I love them both and want both to succeed and more than willing to help both . Well that's until my money runs out. Chuck
  10. 57 Well you know that like you said you just got to get over the gold. I do believe having a positive mind set when out detecting is the way anyone should be when detecting. Just give yourself time it's out there waiting for you to find it. Chuck
  11. Chris Ben That some great looking gold. It looks as if it has broke off and more should be around there someplace. You're the first that has said anything about metal in them. I have a steel ball in my left shoulder thanks to me crashing my plane and I too may not get near a GPZ to use one. Best of luck next time out. Chuck
  12. I'm bad about jumping in with both feet before it even gets here. I could kick my butt sometimes but I just can't help myself. One thing I see on the Equinox I'd love to have for GM 1000 and that's is the shaft if it would fit. I guess I could buy the Equinox and change the shaft between the two. I like to look like I know what I'm doing when nugget hunting but care less on the other. It's all about image and I want to look the part. haha Chuck
  13. Why is it something new is coming out next month or next year but never now? I got out of the Air Force because I got tired of waiting in line for something but here I am again doing the same. Chuck
  14. For a dealer to start to take pre-orders on the Equinox the posted price has got to be true. What we've seen on the first show and tell it's a great price in my book for all we going to get in the Equinox. Oh don't get me wrong my MX Sport won't be forsale. It's my first love but if I do buy the Equinox I guess it could be my girl friend. I hope my wife don't find out I'm in love with two metal detectors. When I get my Gm 1000 back I don't know what I'll tell it. That's what happens when your gone too long from home.haha Chuck PS She'll say at your age so what.
  15. 57buick I've got to say you got it all together and looking good. For myself I go with the soft gun case. I drive a van and always out of the weather and locked up. I did have the Deus but sold it. It's a great detector but I just didn't like having to make sure all was charged before I went out to hunt. That's just one thing I like about my MX Sport not having to worry about that as long I got another power pack. Chuck
  16. Spit in one hand and wish in the other to see the one that's get full the fastest. I've said something about the same in the past and that one hand is running over with spit. For what it's worth Chris Gholson on AZ Outback is now taking pre orders on Equinox and like all the others you will get the 15 % discount. That's if you got what's needed to get it. Chuck
  17. Steve The more you got to say the more I like it. When I got in detecting I didn't care what made it tick but as long as it did. With you that's not good enough. All I can say Steve is Thank You. Chuck
  18. Shelton To hear what you said is nothing but great news. I'd be willing to buy one for the GM if they make it. When I buy anything I like to keep it out of the dirt and take care of it. So as time pass and I want to sell it it's good as new. I do it for me because I take pride in what I buy. Chuck
  19. The Mulit-Notch Dis. looks a lot like the White's MX Sport but it has numbers too. Will it be like the MX in that you can go there and block out anything you don't want to detect?? Chuck
  20. I see one problem that the Equinox has just like the Gold Monster has too. It's top heavy and unless you put it down with the coil flat when you dig a target it will fall over. The cause is the stand for it is just too narrow to keep it upright. If Minelab don't correct it I will if I get one. I plan on making one for my GM when I get it back. Chuck
  21. Heck Guys you still got baby fat.Haha This past May I turn 76 and my mother in Nov. will hit 95 and still going strong. I took her out this Friday to shop and I'm the one that had to sit down.I would say haha but it's not funny. Chuck
  22. Mike You have got to remember when I tell you something it could be back over fifty years ago. I don't think Heath Kit is around anymore. The only way to find out anything on a old BFO is like I have and it was in a trash pile at a flea market. If I do run across one I'll pick it up for you. I'm not one to go back in time with old equipment. Every time something new comes out over the years it's been better for the coin hunter and for the nugget hunter now. Chuck
  23. It sounds that some who didn't have trouble at first may have now. The only trouble we the ones that bought the GM 1000 can talk all day on what it may be the cause. The repair center has to find the cause and the action to cure the problem. The kick in the butt is with the ones that don't have trouble now but as sure as grass is green they will. I had got one of the first 200 TDI's and at first it worked great but later I started having trouble. I sent it in and they sent it back and I'm sure they tested it but couldn't find the trouble. I turn it on and had the same trouble. I sent it back again and got it back but the trouble still wasn't fixed. The third time Jimmy S. called White's said send him a new one. That fixed my problem and never had it again. On this I was the only one but with GM 1000 to too many having the same problem. Like one guy on here got that new one with the same trouble. Minelab has to find what's causing the trouble soon. Just think how many may be going out the door and will be coming back. You that want the Equinox may have to wait on the recall of all the GM's. If just the coil would be a easy fix but the electronics in the GM may be another story. Chuck
  24. Chris My trouble was as soon as I turn it on. No matter what I done I couldn't make it better. Then again back home in mild soil no problem. If they can't find something on my GM but over time they will being it's so many having the same problem. I told him so many saying the same and they just don't know at this point in time what's the problem. I said this from the beginning my trouble is in both coils. Some it's just the small coil but only a few like us trouble in both. If I was you I wouldn't be sitting on the trouble you having. Minelab wants all of us to be happy when we buy from them and they will do whatever it takes to make it right. They want our business over and over again. Chuck
  25. About noon today I got my first call from Minelab Repair Center in Pa. The guy just wanted to go over on the somewhat long note I'd sent with my GM 1000. He ask the questions and we went over the trouble I was having. The problem he couldn't get it to false on either coil but maybe just a little on the small one when he bump it. He said he was going to do more testing and would get back with me. I've got a feeling this will be like when you take your car in and when the repair man looks at it ,it runs like a new one. He did say he may replace the small coil but but not sure. When I do get it back I'll take it about a hundred miles from here that may be near the same type of ground where I was in Colorado. You could tell this guy wanted to fix my problem but he just had to find it to do so . Of all the Minelab detectors I've had this is the first one to have trouble with. I guess the trouble could be me but like I told him this is not my first nugget detector. Only time will tell. Chuck PS I did make a comment about others having the same trouble with the small coil and one guy like me having trouble with both coils. He did say yes on that but still don't know the cause.
