  6. Thanks Steve for putting it in layman's terms. That gives me way more insight on the different modes. I can totally process this now. Even me having 2 PHD's. Things get convoluted in my enormous noggin. BTW my 2 PHD's are a (Portola High Diploma) and a (Post Hole Digger) lol
  7. Colonel Klunker. I wish you could unthank me for a thankless task. But have to give credit to those who do the real work. I only have a small part in this. And my credit is shot. But THANKS to Larry, Glen, Marlene and Ules. They are the ones that spend most of the year getting the sponsors and dealing with the rye patch state park people.
  8. I use the mobile version on here the most. I can't find a calender button. Does it need to be activated?

Last year only 76 of the 100 hundred tokens were located by participants so we had a second chance drawing for 24 prizes and the number one prize was given away to the last person in the second chance draw. This year who knows if all 100 hundred tokens will be located by the detectors’? So make sure you get your second chance drawing ticket from GPAA of Northern Nevada Reno.
  10. I've read all the posts on this thread. And have to concur with most all of them on the pro's and con's of the 7000. That being said, I have way more pro's. A list of my con's. Cheap footrest. Wm 12 clip wont stay clipped on my harness without adding a rubberband to keep in place. The shaft does tend to move around. I clip my Velcro bungee harnesses clip right below the handle. So I run the handle and display at about 11:00 o'clock with the coil flat to the ground. But it won't stay put. I can see this being a issue with time and wear and tear. The coil cover notches. They allow dirt into and between the coil. Not a big issue. But has to be cleaned out periodically. EXTRA DEEP. What the heck is it for? I use every other function except this. Need some clarity. Heavy. Nothing major here. But Minelab hopefully reads our issues and takes notes. Without us consumers, you wouldn't be selling detectors. So for the pro's. I had a GPX 5000 for 3 years. Had success with it. But never fully understood it. Sometimes going through brush , the toggles would get hit and I wouldn't notice for a time. Not having that info displayed in front of my face was a major issue for me. But I have good success and would still be using today if not for the 7000. My knowledge and experience as a electronic prospector grew immensely with the 5k. Then came the 7000. I wanted to be one of the first in the area with one. And purchased one with no hesitation. Going on Minelabs reputation as the best. I hve no regrets. I've put many hours swinging it. I've found more gold in months with the 7k than in years with the 5k. Weather it be more knowledge and experience on my behalf. Right location. Or is it the machine. I believe it is all 3. But I felt at home and comfortable with the 7k right away. I felt I spoke it's subtle language. Sometimes it was a little hard to understand, but comes through loud and clear now. Having a display in my face totally helps. I love the wireless. I would buy again. NO REGRETS HERE.
  11. Camping is free on Saturday night. You can come stay in my campsite. I will be there Friday midday. Leaving Sunday.
  12. Welcome, come to the rye patch nugget shoot on September 19th. There will be many knowledgeable detectorists that can shorten your learning curve on the 5k.
  13. Great pull Chris! Some of the gold we each are finding is very similar. Love the uniqueness of your gold.
  14. I carry the least amount possible. Pro swing harness. Hipstick Wm 12 with under ear speakers , headphones on windy days. Jp B&Z booster. Apex pick or Leland Cotter pick. Plastic scoop Trash bag with pinpointer in it. Camelback in patch hunting. Jug of water when staying in one general area. Lunch. Small pack of baby wipes. Cellphone and sometimes a Go pro camera.
  15. I think KLUNKER ENTERPRISES would be a great sponsor! So would this forum. And ICMJ. Hint hint Steve and Mr. Ralph.
  16. Here is a list of businesses and individuals who have sponsored. There is still time for any of you to sponsor also. Big or small welcomed. A great way to get your name or brand some free advertising.
  17. Thanks Steve for posting this. I will post a complete list of sponsors later today.
  18. I told you to have faith in it. Just got to get the coil over the right real estate. Nice finds. Im sure glad you don't make long winded posts. Lol . One thing to add. I've noticed on bigger gold targets, it is difficult to pinpoint. The ZED just screams. I back the coil off a bit. Seems to help pinpointing. I've found gold in many varied settings. I try to have the sensitivity as high as possible and still be stable. Low smoothing. Difficult. High yield.
  19. Wouldn't this be a prime location for the ferrite ring and running in fixed?
  20. Any slope or pitch change in the terrain. From a steeper slope to a slight slope is a place to than can catch gold. Sometimes saddles can be where a ancient river channel could have cut through. Just lil things I look for.
  21. Thanks everyone! Can't wait to get out again! Working sure gets in the way of prospecting.
  22. We only do this once a year. Last year we had about 500 attendees and over 10 k in prizes. Doin a month earlier this year cause we got rained out and the president of our club. His daughter is getting hitched.
