  1. I bought one from Doc at a WSPA outing at Rye Patch. It is a great protective cover. Highly recommended.
  2. I did a bathroom remodel in Sierra City about 20 years ago on a 1870's home. I had to put a foundation and dig out for clearance for the floor and plumbing. I took out 30 5 gallon buckets out. I ran them through my sluice after work. If I recall correctly, I got about 6 grams.
  3. I do not want revenge nor am I humiliated. Nor do I keep score. But I am competitive. I just want to be the most proficient detectorist I can possibly be. Covering the ground and leaving as few of nuggets in the ground at the end of the day. It will happen. I have a great group of friends and mentors that I'm not afraid to ask them questions. My favorite motto is "show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser".
  4. Went detecting with a friend over the weekend. To one of his patches. Well let's just say. I got my ass handed to me. We were running same detectors, similar settings, same area. The difference is,he was pulling out numerous lil gold nuggets out. I wasn't! The faint signals he was hearing, I was writing off as ground noise. I thought I was on the road to being a fairly proficient detectorist. Truth is, I have so much more to grow. One thing is. I'm going to learn from this. This experience is making me more determined to really listen to what the gpz7000 is telling me. I've been stewing on this for 2 days now. I can't wait to get out again and learn more from him. Luther teaching my puppy Rooster how to be a great detecting partner.
  5. They are way off of what I ran most of the summer. And outside my comfort zone. I did very very well finding gold this summer. But I'm willing to learn and try something different. Thanks for posting Steve! Going detecting in the morning. Got a screen shot of your settings. Will give it a test drive.
  6. I saw that this morning. Love how they clean the gold with a hatchet. Lol
  7. I'm not rejoining myself. Guess I'll just have to wait for YouTube. .http://33.media.tumblr.com/cbd9d4400523de3e1d4e4b6522ca4f68/tumblr_nvqlp7TJ3g1suuhywo1_500.gif
  8. Saw this on Facebook. Steve, Kevin Hoagland, and Chris. Are you able to get a copy where we can watch the show?
  9. Klunker is one of the fortunate ones that has a family tree. Not a family stick. Me though has a family cactus. With a bunch of Pri*ks in it.
  10. Klunker don't even listen to his wife. So why would he listen to Rosetta or Sheila for that matter. We can barley understand his high Sierra dilect anyways. Sounds like a cross between Festus and Gabby Hays. But for what he lacks in manners,he makes up for with his redneck wit. He knows more about prospecting in his pinky, than most people will ever know their whole hand.
  11. Couple of pictures of the general area where many of us on the forum here locally go detecting. From the recent storm a couple days ago.
  12. I had to use my detecting pick this morning to chip the frozen ground under the gate to my yard. I usually had about 1 1/2 inch clearance. A balmy 21 degrees this morning.
  13. My Reno prospecting just recently filed on a placer claim in Pershing county Nevada. Do we have to file a notice of intent to hold? If we do, is it just for the 1st year? Thanks Scott
  14. I hear you on the winter blues. I get depressed not being able to go out in the sticks and prospecting and detecting. So I plan on doing some parks and old homesteads this winter weather permitting. Maybe some rye patch. Also waiting for a invite from Lucky Lundy to go hit the foothills near Oroville and Yuba city.lol
  15. Steve nailed it in a nutshell for me. I have ran the gpz7000 in all sorts of varied settings. In varying ground conditions. Various atmospheric conditions. Found good gold in most all of the different settings. Seems the only way to run it wrong is to run extra deep, severe ground, high smoothing, sensitivity at 1, and threshold maxed out. Or screw up the ground balance procedure.
  16. Over the week I went detecting up in the high country before the storms hit. The soil was damp. All of the downed trees and wood debris was also wet. The gpz squaked all day on everything wet. Had to cut the sensitivity back to tone it down. Was running high yield, sensitivity about 9-14. High smoothing. I found 4 little dinks. But the wetness slowed me down a tad. I was being real meticulous too clean out this patch. Nothing was repeatable on the false signals. But just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences?
  17. Fricking sweet! I like the nugg on the bottom. Rough with some smooth spots! I love the updated version too.
  18. I ran this weekend with the updated version in a spot I previously ran a few months ago in the old version. It ran so much more smooth on the abundance of hot rocks. But still didn't find any gold.
  19. KK, if you need help with the download or using the gps?? I'll be glad to assist you! I record and mark every piece of gold I find. I'm up to 2 now. I can see a pattern developing.
