  1. I thought Klunker was out in the fields prospecting. Seems he is the new face for the minelab zed 7000.
  2. I've been trying for a while to get one from my dealer.I called minelab myself. They are backordered. For as good as your detectors are. Other little things you really SUCK at. WTF Minelab. Get me a ferrite ring and make me happy. You spend 10 K on a detector, but can't get a 10 dollar ring.
  3. YES! Also to those felonious miscreants so called friends on here . Your efforts to track me to the golden eye patch have been thwarted. But coming back from my secret lair of metal detecting awesomeness. I found several of these little black boxes with beeping lights and antennas. I put the boxes in hermetically sealed containers to run the trackers for fingerprints. Back at the SS CSI Garagemahal. The results came back. You know who you are. If it was'nt for me coating the underside of my rig with cooking spray and the Baja 500 road going to the patch. I would have never found these detecting tracking devices. Now I have my two guard dogs 24/7 on patrol. My trusty Scandinavian cheesehound. And my teacup Dingo. Be forewarned, your ankles will be a bloody mess of hanging skin and sinuew.
  4. He is doing well. I spoke with him. Working and riding his trike.
  5. The wife is going to visit her sister in Tucson for a week. I'm going to head detecting here in my neck of the woods.
  6. I got fooled yesterday in the patch. I've been gridding the area very meticulously. I went over a previously dug hole of mine. Got another hit. So I uncovered the hole, still getting a signal. I then remembered I had pulled a small bit of iron from the hole previously. So I dug. Signal still there. Scraped some more, out of the hole. So I pinpointed the target, but it sounded funny. Got it in the scoop, halved it down. Ran my pick magnet over it and low and behold , another piece of iron. Sum bitch! So I rechecked the hole, nothing. So I scanned the pile, another signal. Got it in the scoop. BOOM! A funny shaped, porous 1 gram piece of gold. I got punked by the 7000! But stayed with it and got the gold in the end.
  7. I know that each time I go out with the 7000, it is slightly a different setup. Weather it be atmospheric, ground type or wetness of the ground. But I find that to be the beauty of the 7000. It's ability to adjust to the conditions easily.
  8. Yep,I was nailing all the Sheila's. KLUNKER was in the watering hole downing Fosters.
  9. Yep put it on Chris's tab. Ill pay you back 2nd Tuesday of next week.
  10. I was told to look at sunrise and sunset towards the sun. Look for shiny reflections. If you see a concentration of crystals that no one has picked up. Then maybe no one has swung a coil over it.
  11. Thanks everyone for the congrats. I appreciate it. I've been marking every find with the 7000 gps. Some patterns are starting to develop. Pulled out another 11 grams of smalls. But nothing outside the original 1st day patch area. I have a feeling as the ground dries, some deeper targets to be found. The ground is variable to saturable according to the paper Steve just posted. But just a hunch on the ground being drier theory to find deeper targets. Thinking that their might be some halo effect going on with the ground being half wet and dry. I turned down my sensitivity to 9 and was able to pick up more shallow targets with less ground noise.
  12. Yes, Minelabs website is convoluted and not easy to navigate. Thanks for posting.
  13. Have to say the nugget I found yesterday is avery similar shaped piece like your Aussie piece.
  14. Went out detecting this morning. Have been trying to go find new areas to detect. So have been reading, researching, and mapping. For the most part I've been going to pounded out workings. It was not working for me. Was going on a 2 week drought. It was starting to make me wonder what the heck I was doing wrong. So this new area I had in mind had favorable geology to me. It looked right. But no evidence of any serious mining activity. But it looked and felt right. So I headed up this dry gulch. Sq nail, sq nail, Square nail. Then wire, bullet, nail, and tin. I was like here we go again. I decided to get out of the dry creek. I had saw this saddle while scouting the area earlier. So I gave it a walk to. I got to the area. Went thru the auto tune and ground balance procedure and started swinging. The ground was still wet from the recent rains. So I worked in High Yield, Normal ground, and no smoothing. I also turned my threshold down a bit. I swung for about 25 minutes, Then I hit the biggest nugget of the day first. I did eventually go into Difficult ground for awhile. And also low smoothing when the detector starting getting noisy. But would switch back and forth when conditions allowed. There was not any dig holes in the area that I seen. So it seems I'm the 1st in the area with a detector. One of my most fun days detecting ever.
  15. It does make it somewhat easier with the handle. Even wearing a diving mask works. Keeping your hands free to move material. The hand is just screwed on with a washer. If you can get some long handled pry bars. They also make a pvc handle for the falcon.Best of luck!
  16. Just some of my basic crevice and sniping tools. Sniping scope is a must. I also use a Falcon md20 detector probe. Scan the crevices with it after the overburden is removed. I sometimes use a ping pong paddle to fan away the lighter gravels. I also love my snappy grip crevice tool.
  17. Yes Norm, same gal. She is a great lady. I paid her extra to untune you hearing aids, so you wouldn't find all the nuggets.
  18. I live near Frenchman's lake. I was thinking to myself"why the hell you going there"? All lava there and only one small deposit of gold in the area. Now ot makes sense. Lol
  19. Had the hearing test today. I have normal heading in my right ear. My left ear has slight loss. Especially to high pitched sounds. My best hearing range is from 750-1000 khz. So good to know all the nuggets I'm missing os not my hearing, just my detecting skills.lol
