  1. I watched that video the other day, it was L O N G.... I like his process and record keeping but he used the same settings for each sluice which is not correct and will give inaccurate results.
  2. what do you mean when you say clean sound? What is the pitch, high, low, mid level?
  3. Im new to detecting and have the nox 800, I've learned that the numbers dont mean as much as tone. That being said I dig everything and try to call the target before digging and the only thing I can consistently call are dimes and quarters, other coins I can call but not as accurately. I take a silver bracelet with me to test before I get started and I get different readings depending on the location and which mode I'm in. The only times I've passed on targets is an obvious tacklebox spill (split shot scattered everyplace) or someone did a mag dump and all I find is brass
  4. Who is going to pay $200,000??? Since its one giant nugget its worth more than its weight as gold, I would hype it up and then auction to the highest bidder and expect $300-$500k, maybe more if its advertised properly...
  5. The PF35 is my first and only pinpointer and the only odd thing I've noticed is when I have it set to highest sensitivity it will sound off when pointed straight up in the air, is that normal?
  6. Thawed ground?? Did you forget my little ice dance that landed me on my butt?? LOL Thanks for getting me started, I had a great time. I need to find a laminated cheat sheet like you have or start carrying the manual in a backpack.
  7. Hey Morgan, welcome from Soldotna. I look forward to meeting you and finding good stuff. Dig it and I got together the other day and had a great time. He found his first silver and I found my first .13, the NOX 800 rocks!!
  8. I'm up for some training if you don't mind a tag-along
  9. Good to know I'm not alone down here on the Peninsula. I've never detected and after spending the last few months researching I decided to get the nox 800, how do you like it?
  10. Thanks Steve, that's surprising but good to know. When I lived in Juneau I saw black bears just about every week when they were awake. Up here on the Peninsula I have yet to see any bears although I did have one huff at me one afternoon... Did you wear your headphones with one ear out to listen for bears? I've been looking into different headphones that will allow me to somewhat hear what's going on around me.
  11. Great story and incredible pictures, I am pumped to get outside now and find some gold. I was surprised you dont have any bear stories related to your adventures or are you saving them for later?
  12. You didn't get gypped, a bad one got through and that happens sometimes
  13. Hi, I'm new to detecting and came here to learn. Anyone else in AK?
