  1. I agree with the posts above; That was a much-needed comment. Just think of all the hard feelings and confusion that would have been mitigated if Minelab had simply put out a post clarifying why deliveries are delayed. I am sure we all would have understood. This is a smart customer base. There's nothing worse than not keeping customers (and dealers), in the loop. It is hard to fathom why they continue to not be able to change that aspect of their marketing.
  2. Hi Vez, When my kids were young, they thought tooth fairy brought gold nuggets. Have fun.
  3. I would just say Chase, don't lose your enthusiasm, it is contagious and welcome. That, along with your obvious level of expertise, is what makes this website as good as it is.
  4. I like that questions are set out so we can answer them as we get information, but separate threads for questions are better, otherwise the answers will have an all-in-one thread get confusing pretty quickly.
  5. Have been reading about the newly discovered Mayan city found with LiDAR in Guatemala. A pretty incredible find in the middle of a jungle area completely missed by archeologists. LiDAR surely will open up a lot of interesting areas of discovery. An interesting explaination of LiDAR: also, although this is England, it shows how LiDAR has a direct application to detecting.
  6. the thing that had me bugging my eyes out was the response on that tiny piece of gold. whoa...
  7. I was going to be content with letting others say what I think but it's especially important that worthy endeavors, vital information sharing and - these days more than ever - good manners and message discipline, be celebrated. So thank you for your efforts on our behalf. There is no doubt we are all better for it.
  8. If you have not watched Goldhounds videos, you might try them. These guys are charming, funny, smart and brave. They know what they are doing. Their videos are immersive. You live what they are living. They have taken the time to show us their way of life and anyone who detects for gold will be better for watching their generous and evocative videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCanm0gYhAZNL6-wNKkSXx8Q Also, of course, any video by the hobby's most renowned and deservedly famous prospector and cheerleader for us all, Jonathan Porter, is worthy
  9. Yeah guys, this was sort of tongue in cheek which I'm sure you know. Isn't it fun to have this level of anticipation for a product that seems to open new ways of doing what we love to do?
  10. Valuable, and as is usual with you, detailed and complete information. Much appreciated.
  11. We entering the last week in January right? We supposed to be hearing about the release of some sort of new fangled detector from Minelab around now right? "Minelab is pleased to announce that the new EQUINOX Series of detectors is expected to be available for purchase worldwide from late January, 2018 onwards." A second Christmas in January, cool...
  12. Thank you everyone. I am under warranty so I'll see what ML says. And thanks for the IPB Steve...
  13. Hi Norvic, yes I have plugged it into the usb port on my computer with the same results. Thanks for the suggestion. Is the battery something that a civilian can replace? I did test recharging it in the field with one of those iphone portable battery chargers and it worked just fine...so I have a way to keep the charge up, it's just cumbersome.
  14. This has happened for awhile so I thought I would throw it out to the experts. The Wireless Module on my 7000 does two things I don't understand and are probably related. 1. It takes an insanely long time to charge and after a couple of days, it takes another insanely long time to charge. 2. When out detecting it runs out of charge before a day of detecting is over. Any thoughts? Thanks...
  15. Hi Steve, an interesting article on the Equinox, thank you and Happy New Year https://www.minelab.com/usa/go-minelabbing/treasure-talk/2018-year-of-the-equinox
  16. Great tips to start the new year with JP, thank you.
  17. I keep my interest in detecting on the downlow.
  18. Excellent relics JP…If this detector is able to find pieces of gold that small in addition to it's other apparent capabilities, it's going to be the biggest selling detector ever and I will be standing in line as soon as my savings allow.
