  1. I was thinking the same as 350. You have a good spot to hunt ! Keep at it till it cries UNCLE ! 😉
  2. Yup yup the 540 has skills. Glad you're finding good targets. You might want to hold onto at least one of the other detectors for backup or a buddy detector for when you have a friend that might want to try detecting.... And who knows , you might eventually "crack their code."
  3. Another 3 hours today . , a 1970 nickel , a 1956 wheatie , 3 copper memorials , 6 zincolns. A bling earring , a tiny boot tack , an aluminum roofing ring nail , and another pile of ID 16 pull tabs and rings . ( I saw an ID chart for the 800 that said $5 gold coins were a 16 ID and decided to see if I got lucky,,,,nope , and the stupid nail was a 16 too ! ) There was also something that the detector went nuts ( numbers jumping wildly and sounded like a Hendrix solo ) over. It turned out to be a U shaped padlock cutoff ! I was hoping for a 50s Strat..... The ground was still super soft but still ice in the shade . I got most of the coins in the "quicksand soft" road . Some easy diggin' and didn't have to hide the holes just fill 'em back in , I even filled in some ruts somebody trying to drive it left behind.... I had left a frozen target in an open hole overnight yesterday .It thawed out just enough to get the target . It turned out to be a glob of aluminum foil ID 20. ..
  4. Is it ovah uptah ? MAYBE ! 👍 I found 55 cents of clad and one memorial and 6 really old pull tabs yesterday uptah camp that I suspect were dropped by some nobody that was really thirsty ! Not sure how to research that though....😉 The ground is soft except shaded areas . 1 inch where it is. I found one spot in the road that had almost turned to quicksand . It ain't over till it's over and I really hope it IS over. The mini Nomad Root Slayer is "the balls" (music term probably first used by Quincy... ) And YES 350 , I put WD 40 on it after use ! 😏 (those teeth are nastier than a bluefish)
  5. Well , there you go again . A couple of "Sons of the Fields Full of History" Nice day on the permissions ! 🤯 ( is there a green with envy emoji ?) I bet you WILL find the name of the original owner of that medallion too .. maybe even return it to descendants ?
  6. That's some nice finds ! A much warmer and less white winter uptah camp this year too ! My ground thawed for almost a week last month and just thawed again yesterday. About 10 hours swinging the beep stick that I never expected .....
  7. Good showing for your return to the site ! Those things were probably there when you first detected it.🥸 And they waited for you to come back ! 👍
  8. WAG : Wind up toy or clock ?🤔
  9. Heya Smith 1 , ! Findin' anything worth posting up ? We do like to point and nod around here........ Or just tell us more 'bout what yer lookin' for and how.
  10. Welcome aboard moondog ! Are you any relation to skydog ? 🥸 Gearing up for retirement is a good plan .
  11. Boy Howdy ! How are your ankles doin' ? 😳 I like the looks of it though ! There's gotta be ONE big one there somewhere .... 👍
  12. Impressive silver pile , again. 👍 The dimes reminded me of the wanted poster lineup at the post office , they're all wanted in my neck of the woods 🤔 . Did the pliers turn out to be salvageable ?
  13. grumpy That is some rugged dirt in your photo.. My hips hurt just looking at it ! And I bet the 5000 wasn't fun on those slopes ! Hope the kid has better luck with that Garrett on relics. A pan and sluice probably worked better on the small stuff anyway... 🖖 live long and prospect
  14. Gonna be a long drive if I go north to see it in totality. Need to wait for the weather report......🧐
  15. I add split key rings anywhere I need one with a Speedy Stitcher or just rug thread and a bug needle.. I use a small hydration pack if I need it but usually have everything on my "Batman" utility belt and leave the back ups in the pack back in the car. ! I also use the leave most of the gear nearby method if off road away from the vehicle. Just don't set it down in chigger territory.......🙄
  16. Smooth seas compass ! Must have been a sight with Bryce as a background !
  17. Badger Here ? Awesome ! Good idea looking at what nobody else thinks of during an eclipse too ! The floaters that I have now are probably indicative of seeing enough of the eclipses I've been under so far anyway ..... 🙄 Nice pics GotAU? !
  18. Grumpy Probably just needed adjusting of something like ground balance ?🤔 Good move with the gift to the grand niece ! 👍 Detecting buddies can be hard to find... especially ones that are young and can help dig .
  19. Welcome to the crew David ! Nice display without a doubt ! I used to live out on Elm Hill Pk just across 40 from the airport and later down in Brentwood. Good dirt to dig in Davidson County ......
  20. Welcome aboard Mike. You're in ! Let your questions begin .🥸
  21. There is a perfectly good use for those yellow pull tabs. Did you find anything GOOD ? Yep , gold rings ! 👍
  22. I take digging pull tabs as a challenge ! Like making down payments on that eventual gold find....😜 OK , on the walk back to the rig I've been known to skip 'em too.🙄
