I wish they were gold double eagle coins but I'll take em anyway. These are my first Civil War Federal Eagle buttons. Rare finds in Central Arizona. The one with the "C" in the shield is a Calvary officer's button. This site has been producing other Civil War era relics as well. No old coins...YET. HH. Dean Don't know why the pics are so large?

khouse, How does the MXS compare to the AT-Pro? It would seem that this is the machine that White's is trying to compete with. I have seen Bill's vids on the AT-Pro so perhaps he would have some experienced in-put on a comparison between the two. Thanks. Dean

Fred, I believe it was Monte who came up with a test similar to this. I, too, was surprised at the results. If I remember right, there are many detectors that give a crazy response to a numerous mixed coin bag. A response that most of us would walk over! I think the Fores CoRe did a pretty good job and maybe a couple of others. I believe he said that he takes a few silver coins, etc. and makes a "coin purse" and tests his relic machines in this manner. It was a real eye opener!! Dean

The Fores Relic looks like a real winner. I mostly relic hunt with the CoRe and it excels at it. Nokta added a bunch of great features to the Relic that should make it the "Dream Machine". Can't wait to swing this one. Dean Here are a few goodies from my last hunt with the CoRe in very trashy ground... Old gold watch and some large caliber rim fire cases were the finds of the day. Nokta rocks!

How about considering the FoRes Gold+? I don't have one, but I am impressed with the FoRes CoRe as a relic hunting machine and the "Plus" gets great reviews.

Thank you, goldbrick. I'm having problems identifying the different cases. Notice that there are four different types. The two on the left have been necked down and have a shoulder. The two on the right are much smaller in diameter and the one that has not been fired is much longer than the others. So far, (as best as I can tell) this is what I've got... The shorter rifle cases with no shoulder are .56-.56 Spencer The two with the shoulder are .56-.46 Spencer (One of the first wildcats. A necked down .56-.56. Rare.) The long un-fired shell appears to be a .56.-56 Extra Long Spencer The two small cases appear to be (measured length) .44 Henry Pointed cases. All 1860s era. To the best of my limited sources, FWIW, this is what I think I've got. If anyone knows different please chime in. Thanks! Dean P.S.- www.cartridge-corner.com seems to be a pretty source.

Hunted an old home site/mine this morning with the Fores CoRe. I've hunted this place a couple of times before and I'm getting it figured out. This was my best hunt here yet. The CoRe is great for picking the good stuff from the bad. Today was the day for old, large caliber (52 cal), rim-fire cases both rifle and pistol (41 cal). One not fired! The Webelos neckerchief slide is really cool. The shotgun head stamp says Peters/Victor. Never found one like this before. The large disc is from a silver slag pour I found there last time. They did some small time smelting as I have found some copper slag as well as this silver pour. It was dirty and had stuff stuck in it so I melted it, cleaned it up some, and poured it in to a round mold. This is the second silver pour I have found. I'm really liking the CoRe for this kind of work (play) . Good luck! Dean

Steve, Thank you for your awesome answer! Very thorough as usual. I was initially thinking that it was a ferrous volume control which would be totally cool. I like running as little Disc. as possible but sometimes the iron grunts become overwhelming so it would be nice to turn that down some. Now, I understand that the "Iron Audio" is not like what I'm doing with the Nokta - well, kind of.... The Nokta, as you are aware, has the iron grunt if you don't disc the iron out. Then, if you hunt in DI2 or DI3 you essentially get the same thing as the AT-Pro with "Iron Audio" on. You can even run a little iron disc too. I know I'm stretching that comparison a bit but basically with the Nokta the "Iron Audio" is always on. O.K., I stretched it a lot . Have you ever run the AT-Pro? If so, what are your thoughts? Some detectors have an "Iron Audio" feature. With "iron audio- on" it lets the operator hear the iron targets. So, does this feature just basically turn iron discrimination off so that you get an "all metal mode"? I ask because I am interested in the AT-Pro which has this feature but am wondering exactly what it does. I notice some guys in videos using the iron audio on setting yet they still turn up the iron disc. When I hunt with the FoRes CoRe I turn the I.D. Mask all the way down to 5 or less so that I can hear everything and let my ears do the discriminating. Am I basically doing the same thing as "Iron Audio-On" ? Thanks! Dean

Looks like it would give the AT Pro a run for it's money. I like the water proof feature on a light, mid-freq. VLF. Makes it more versatile. I've never owned a MXT. They seem to have a loyal following among the coin shooters. Nice looking unit. Dean

Thanks, Nenad! Your videos and tips have been very helpful to get the best from the SDC. I love mine. At times, I will do a second noise cancel shortly after the first as it seems to put the machine in to the zone even more or, maybe, my ears just needed to warm up a bit and it seems to sound better. Having used the machine for a while now I know how smoothly it is capable of running... it has a certain "tone" to the treshold when dialed in. At times, a second noise cancel seems to get it there.
