  1. using my ORX in coin fast at 8.4 khz- 2.5 sweep speed,-and disc set up to 45 i managed to find this nice silver ring
  2. June is looking good already. Size 5, 1.8g, 18K & PLAT, 2 diamond and 1 Sapphire ring. Working the wet into the surf. Equinox 800, Beach 1, sensitivity 23, AM. Also got two small silver bands but they are not as photogenic as this little pretty thing. Oh, I found my name again. CUNIAGAU
  3. Was out to a local park for a couple hours toward evening today in the FL heat and humidity. This silver pendant rang in as a 22-23 on the Equinox using Park 1, 50 tones, 17 sensitivity, all metal, using the 15" coil. I had high hopes when I also got a "golden" ring than was a solid 20. Sadly, all that glitters is not gold.☹️ Cleaned up lots of aluminum bits so I won't have to dig them next time!
  4. This forum had lots of 'finds' in the past but not so many now as most are waiting to get their 6000. The Equinox and a few other detectors can still hunt. Use them and post what you find fellas. Here is a pendant I found today which is unusual that it is 14k. Most of my religious finds are 10k or less. This one weighs 4.5 grams.
  5. Took off early this morning heading to the beach because i promised to look for a class ring for a lady. Gridded the area repeated for over 5 hours .... nada. Because of the area it was lost at i dug a lot of pushed up can slaw, crab trap, and pull tabs. It was one nice day out there finally wave wise. Picked up a few coin.... but very few. I did find one quarter that was a 1958. I showed it just to how what salt water does to silver coins on time. This babies thin and black. About waist deep (the ring was lost chest deep) i hit a good signal.... it wasnt the class ring but was GOLD. A nice Fredrick Goldberg 14K 6.5 grams.
  6. These are my finds for the day. Absolutely brutal out there today. The heavy winds we blowing right into shore creating one heck of a pull out current and raised the TID by a good 3’. The waves were tuff. I saw about 8 other hunter but only 3 of us got in. Coil control went out the window in the shallow especially. Did about 4 hours and that all I wanted since I got 1 gold… 6.7 grams 10k, silver toe ring, want to be nugget ring, and a TI. For the conditions…. a real good day. The other was a keeper the last day of May I believe. Beauty.
  7. I have been wanting to search this ballpark again and try to find some gold jewelry, so today I had the time and decided to give it a go. I brought the Simplex and was going to dig all targets intent on finding jewelry. I put the Simplex in park 2, iron volume off with all notches accepted and set the sensitivity at half. I ground balanced and started swinging. First target was a bottlecap, second a piece of canslaw and third was bam......10k gold band about 3" deep. I don't think I was there more than 5 minutes. The rest of the hunt was some clad and lots of pulltabs and bottle caps and a junk arrowhead pendant. I guess it was just good luck that got my coil over that ring so quickly in the hunt. The ring came in at just above nickel and weighs just over 2 grams.
  8. Got out this afternoon for a few hours. Hunted one of the hardest to hunt beaches in my area. Not many targets today, but good for this beach. Started off shallow and picked up a couple of nickels then went deep. When I can back in shallow the detector was erratic. I noticed if I released my hand off of the grip and grab it again it would sound off. I could release my grip and just tap the foam with my finger and it would sound off each time. Looks like once the grip gets wet you can't hunt shallow. I did pick up a deep small Gold ladies ring that the AQ hit hard on it. HH
  9. I'm visiting family and went to a middle school track today where I found a 14k tiger pendant last year. Within the first 10 minutes there was a strong 11 on the Equinox. I didn't really have to dig because the ring was only down about 1/2" due to not sinking into the ground because the blacktop track was under the grass right at the edge of the inside lane. Didn't find much else besides coins after that. Might anyone have an idea what the stones might be?
  10. Was detecting today around a pond that is used by many people. I had one hour, and the 15" on the Equinox was flying. I hit a strong 35-36 which caused my legs to lock up and reverse to make sure of the initial sound. Decided to dig it because it was not indicating it was big when I raised the coil. It was dark enough that I thought it was a silver ring until I got home. I've considered trying to make one of these, and this might be the impetus.
  11. Learning the Orx with 9" hf and scouting an older section of a park that many ignore. A lot of can slaw but overall good finds are sparse. Will hit it for deep targets later on but came across a couple of flat buttons not too old maybe turn of the century and this cool butterfly broach. Weighs 8g but has no markings. Base metal is not a pot metal so either platinum or maybe silver with spot gold plating on it. Thinking platinum base because of the detail in the casting. One of the wings got chewed up as it was under the turf and in with some gravel. Don't think it's an old piece just done well. Veins on wings are the base metal.
  12. Conditions were pretty weak all this month, went out on several negative wet sand low tide hunts at a few spots. Started out the month with a small piece of 10k that looked like it was part of a gold nugget ring and also some grey crusted silver from an area that had a cut and some erosion.. Next peace of gold was the 10k nugget ear ring and a small silver peace ring found waaaay out in the negative low tide wet sand plateau, no doubt fresh drops, targets were few and far between at that beach. Next gold item was a tarnished 10k ring that looked like it had a pearl at one point since there is a post sticking out in the middle of the setting, also found some more dark crusty silver on that hunt from an area that had heavy black sand and steep wet sand slopes. The final hunt towards the end of May was a bit on the weak side, not many targets despite the high/low negative tides caused by the mega full moon. Pulled out a small 10k crucifix and was sure that was gonna be the last gold for the month, but as I was zig-zagging the wet sand on my way out I hit a screamer of a signal at the upper slope area, one scoop down, dump the sand and saw the outline of a ring, thought is was just silver at first sight but then I picked it up and noticed the weight, then noticed the hallmark.....Booyah! 18k/Plat Fred Goldman combo band! I was stoked! Called it quits and went home. Gold total for the month: 10k- 4.1 grams 18k/Plat - 11.5 grams Thanks for looking and GL out there!
  13. I recently went out to a very trashy local park to test out the new Colitek 10x5" coil with my Equinox. This park has been heavily detected and has high mineralization mixed with tons of ferrous and non ferrous trash. I had also covered it pretty thoroughly with the 11" & 15" coils since last year and figured it was pretty hunted out. The new coil proved me wrong and provided many unexpected targets. It also went deep. In my area we can't dig plugs so anything over 8" is out of reach and I left many deep signals behind, but what I found in reach really surprised me, including my second 14K White Gold ring! I guess nowhere is ever truly hunted out. 🙂
  14. After the good results using the new Coiltek 10x5" coil at an iron infested ghost town a few weeks ago, I decided to take it out to one of my hard hit trashy parks and see how it would perform. I've pounded this park with my 11" and 15" coils and thought that it's been thoroughly covered by plenty of detectorists in recent months, so I wanted to see if there was anything left. Since we can't dig plugs in my local parks, I usually just pop targets 8" or shallower. I thought that the Coiltek wouldn't go as deep as the stock 11" in my highly mineralized and fertilized parks so depth wouldn't matter much. Boy was I wrong on all counts! I decided to just run the stock Park 2 setting ( with iron volume turned down to 4 ) until I got a feel for how the new coil would perfom in the modern trash at "party park" as I call it because of all the bottle caps, ring pulls, pull tabs, and foil, not to mention tons of old iron trash from fill material in the fairly modern park. I ran with "all metal" horshoe mode turned on most of the time and was surprised at how well targets popped through the iron background chatter. Sometimes I would just get a squeak of a higher tone, but when I shifted my sweep 90° it would lock on and stay locked on. I was getting good target hits from well below 8" and couldn't dig them, but I pulled quite a bit out from the 4-7" range inluding the 14K white gold ring in the photo. Another pleasant surprise was that I could cover the same park area with the 10x5" coil in about the same amount of time as the 11" coil. The 10x5" won't replace the 11", but in my opinion, the Coiltek is definitely a winner.
  15. I got a chance to go out this morning and hit one of my favorite beaches. It was not long before I got a large 13.2 g tungsten carbide ring. That was a good sign. As it turned out it was a lot of walking before I got another ring. It was about an hour later. By this time I had tried my normal beach patterns of zigzag and gridding. Targets were few but I could see in the distance a bit of a slope to the beach. I was hopeful of some sloping targets. They were also out of pattern. It was then that I tried a new, more scientific pattern. It is one that you haven't heard described here very often or at all and just as soon as I tried it I found my second ring of the day. It is the heart ring that looks gold (#2 on the 800) but it is both too light and not marked. Anyway I continued the new pattern and approach to the beach. I got some quarters and then another ring (the little silver) and then the deep heart with .925 silver chain that says Italy. I went back down the pattern and it kept producing the fishing lure and a couple of other things. This is just the greatest way to detect a beach. Let me share with you what I did. While I was detecting someone came by on an electric bike. They left tire tracks. I used these tracks to tell me where the break in the sand was and that kept me on pattern. I first went in one direction along the bike tire tracks and then came back in the other direction. I was careful not to step on the tracks so that my markers would not be erased. At first the tracks were pretty good at the same distance from the water but the rider decided to go up over the slopes. That made me question this method but I kept going. I diligently swung on one side of the tire tracks and then the other. If I didn't get anything I would go back a full swing away from the other. When you get a chance to follow some tracks make sure you save one 'pass' for going directly over the tire tracks with your swing. That is where the good stuff is. What can be a better pattern on a beach than this? It is very scientific! Never trust your detecting to random, unscientific patterns again. Follow the bikes ... or tire tracks in the dry sand. That works too. 😇 Anyway ... here was the good stuff.
  16. I dug a unique silver ring on the beach yesterday with the Equinox. I was expecting a quarter and got the ring instead. Doing some research, I determined that it is a Sound Wave ring. More research determined that it was a Spotify Sound Wave ring. If you have the Spotify app on your phone you can go to Search and then go to Scan and scan the ring. The app will open up a playlist of some 10 hours of "Alina and Parker's" favorite songs. And that is just another reason why I love this hobby so much. You learn something every day!!!
  17. Got out this morning for a 3+ hour all water hunt. Targets were few and far between but the 14K, 9.4 gram gold ring couldn't hide from the AQ. All settings were at preset except the delay which I ran around 10. I hunt in all metal and some of the iron was questionable with double blips but I dig it all anyway. The ring was down a couple of deep scoops but was very loud and repeatable. The open .925 silver earring gave a broken signal. Thanks for looking. Bob K
  18. Went to a local park today after work. Only had a couple of hours to detect and test out my new home made arm cuff. I wasn't a big fan of the plastic, and it was a little too wide and flexy for me. At this point I only have about 5 hours on the 800. The first hour today netted me a handful of clad and some misc. corroded zinc. The next hour was the same thing clad and junk. With only 15 minutes to chicken parm, I got a really nice 28-29, not expecting anything great, I proceeded to find out what it was. For a split second I thought it was another odd piece of stainless, But I quickly saw Tiffany and co. Wooooo Hoooooo. Now I had a good excuse for being a little late for dinner. My wife would never get mad for a Tiffany ring. It is about 6.16 grams and polished to like new. Oh and the cuff was a winner too. fits my arm and no slop. I made it out of an old no parking sign and the factory bottom section. It took me a few hours to create, but I'm happy with it. Have to give a shout out to Kac for the hand digger, Still works great and hasn't failed me yet.
  19. surface find in the leaf litter a nice silver earing
  20. It's one of those days that I had to go to Plan B. Last minute plans for some detecting with a friend at an old ghost town fell thru. So, I decided to play catch up on some shallow water ring hunting I missed out on last year due to moving. The last several years, I've been scouting places to hunt for lost Jewelry, specifically, rings. Taking a page out of Mike Hillis' post on Inland Jewelry Hunting Tips here on detector prospector, I've been making changes. Some great info there. The last few years it has been paying off for me. Compared to previous years, my ring count is way up.Arriving onsite, the place still looked promising. Once geared up, i walked the shore and picked a place to start. Moments later, first target - a solid 16 on the EQ800 target ID. Some difficult digging in the rocks and the signal is out of the hole. And there is a men's black tungsten carbide ring with a center insert that looked like wood under epoxy. I was hoping it was going to be a good day. And it was. More hunting; some pull tabs, some square tabs, some fishing lures, a couple gold rings, a .925 silver bracelet. a couple more 'other' rings and two hours later, I was out of area I could hunt with the gear I brought. Looking in my finds pouch I see 5 rings, 2 of which are gold, a 3rd is a maybe and the last 2 are definitely NOT made of precious metal. After arriving at home, the magnet test shows the unmarked white gold looking ring responds very faintly to a super magnet. Rats. First water hunt of the year yields 2 gold rings (1 marked with a very worn 14k, the other unmarked) and 3 others, 1 Mex .925 silver bracelet, and a finds pouch with miscellaneous junk / garbage found where people meet water. While I missed out on having a go at an old ghost town, it was nice to turn up a couple of gold rings and a silver bracelet to get the shallow water year started. 21. Had a couple hours while my wife was shopping today, so went to a sports field to hunt for jewelry. Glad I did, early in the hunt got a solid 15 on the Equinox at about 6". Texas turf is getting pretty hard packed by this time of year, so digging was tough, especially working to leave the field the way I found it. Out popped 14k class ring. I was happy to see a name on the inside, and with a little research located the owner. Unfortunately, since passed away, but I will try to reach out to the family to return it. My first gold of the year, and my first class ring. Separate signals on opposite ends of the field, I got similar 12-13 signals, and pulled silver from each... first the chunky chain marked .925, then the child sterling cross. Also a pocket full of clad including a Martin Van Buren $1 Coin. All in all, a good day. ~Tim
  22. Yesterday I went on a detect and didn't get much until a little area on the beach where I found a chain. It didn't have a definitive sound but it looked like it could be silver (it's not). This made me check the area more thoroughly as I had nothing else going. I came up with another chain which is a bit of odd construction. This one would be a bracelet. And then as I was exiting this little area I got yet another chain but this one is rusting quickly. This is chain #2 During the mile back to the car I thought about how the ocean can be very fickle. No coins around these chains but 3 of them. I wanted a 4th because the rhyme and title to this post was already stuck in my brain. It didn't happen. I got the cheap ring instead of a chain. Today I was going to detect with the 800 headphones again as a result of a purchase from a forum member. I was glad to confirm to him that while they were sitting on his shelf uncharged they charged for me and also paired. Great. I was now on another beach but it was also sparse pickings. No coins to speak of and I got to one area where someone left their grid marks so I skipped that. When I headed in the other direction on a mid-line I got a small tone. When I lifted my scoop up I could see the balled up chain and I knew this one was silver. My 'line' was rescued and now I could post the title. This is chain #4. It is only 1.6g/.925. Searching the slope proved unproductive so I headed away from the beach to a dig out and found the costume ring which I think is old style but of no value. That was my beach hunting. The old costume ring. Later in the afternoon, I took my son to the park and one of the nannies said she needed my help. They normally give me help and advice so I wanted to know what I could do. She said she had lost her ring in the sand. The sunscreen had loosened the ring she bought in Peru that was 18k with some little diamonds. I had my detector in the car so I tried to find her ring. She didn't have a good idea where it came off so it was unsuccessful. While I was looking for her ring after she left I did find the 1.1 g/14k ring with a heart shaped amethyst! I don't find many rings in parks because I don't hunt them often. This should probably change. It is just good to get out.
  23. Did pretty good using the AQ Ltd last month in the wet sand low tide slopes...1 gold per hunt on 3 different hunts! spending a lot of time hunting in "Tones" mode. I love how this machine screams over gold! Almost like it's telling you "You better dig this damn target right now If you know what's good for you!!!" 😄 The total weight for all 3 gold is 17 grams and all are 14k. The stones & pearl account for some of the weight of course so total gold weight is probably more like 14-15 grams maybe? just a guess.. Working on April now 😉
  24. Went early today to the larger beach. Another beautiful day, even the water was tolerable. Low tide is strange here, you go from having about 50 feet of beach to over 200. It's difficult to read but thanks to advice I've been getting from y'all I did great, at least for me and the 4 hours I was out. I searched along the tidal pools for a while, walked about a mile. Didn't find much of anything, not even an iron grunt until I found a couple of coins and this metal anvil. I assume it's for making jewelry. Shown with the ring I dug yesterday for size: Ran into a guy swinging an Equinox like a golf club, thought of getting a video, it was comical. Exchanged pleasantries and moved on. Only detector I saw all morning. Did a little more beach reading, some advice I got was to go knee to waist deep in the water, but the tide was so far out from where it normally is it didn't seem worth it, so instead coming back I aligned myself at knee to waist level to high tide. Here is a photo taken from where low tide was: Here is a shot showing the slope and where I found the coin line: The umbrella is at high tide. Hit the coin line! Did pretty good for a novice in only about 1/2 mile: 1970 Mexican Cinquenta Centavos piece, (fitty cent), 4 relatively new clad quarters, Jeff nickel, dime, and a memorial. Most money I found so far. Copper bracelet and a Stainless spinner ring. Best find of the day and hence the title: Little gold wave ring. ID'd at 1. Not sure if it's solid gold but it's certainly 24k plated, really waxy feel. No marks. My wife loves it. Found it leaving at the entrance. She took the spinner too. 😀 Here's my take on that - People get to the beach and are so glad to be here they run and drop all their stuff. I found the bracelet and both rings near the beach entrance along with the Mexican coin and the Jefferson. By then there were so many people in the beach it was time to go. Tomorrow I'm hitting the areas early where everyone sets up . 😈
  25. Another beautiful day here, what a week so far. Every day is getting warmer. Today I put my water shoes on, got my CooB scoop and Limbsaver detector sling and hit the beach early with the Equinox. I went to the fishing beach again because I really haven't done all this and it was better to try it out in a place with fewer people. The main beach is loaded by 9 AM. Hit those odd piles in the sand again, found nothing but crusty Zincolns so I moved down to the water. That area must be a place where detectorists dump junk coins or something. 🤔 Wasn't disappointed for long, one quarter, my first Jefferson nickel ever, and a beautiful 1967 penny, along with the 2014 penny that must have been recently dropped. The '67 was DEEP. I found the coin line and those 4 popped right up, one after another. Sad that the streak didn't continue. Using the scoop was pretty cool, the sling kept me from picking my detector up all the time. Dig and sweep. It was especially great near the water because I didn't care if the hole filled up with water. What made it even more interesting was dealing with these: Virtual mini tsunami when they pass. All the water disappears and then the 5 foot wake comes in. Fun. Carrying the scoop wasn't bad either, it weighs about 3 pounds, half what the M16 I used to carry weighed. At one point I thought I wasn't going to find anything else, I turned inland to avoid some fishermen, and bam. Got a solid 6. Y'all gave me such great advice, I dug that sucker and got me a nice Tungsten ring. Fits perfectly. Thanks! I hope to find my wife something nice tomorrow.
