It is interesting that the feds are terming existing claims as "Previously unverified mining claims" - meaning claims which have not undergone a validity test (which is virtually none of them) are frozen and cannot be explored.

 

If you think the boundaries were not selected with the intention to shut down mining, the Governor of Nevada has noted that slightly shifting protection boundaries based on new maps would release all but 1 percent of the 3,726 mining claims currently in limbo in the Federal land grab / shut down.

I ran across this letter last week that Gov. Sandoval had written to BLM on the subject back in last July, there is mention of travel restrictions in there as well. So, we may see road closures in this deal too.
