Detector In Your Local Language

Hello all,

I'm doing a small study of metal detectors in Africa. How do you refer to gold detectors in your local language?  What does the name mean?

Hi Akello,  Here in Australia we simply call it a gold detector if it is detecting gold but sometimes when it is only detecting lead, steel nails and no gold we get cranky and call it a Rubbish Detector.😉 my answer if I`ve understood your question correctly.

Your response is acceptable. In Australia,  the nickname for one that doesn't work is Rubbish while the one that works is simply just a gold detector.

Aye Akello, that is correct but it does get a little complicated as us Australians are not a very literal mob, that sometimes gets us misunderstood a wee bit, we often speak with our "tongues in our cheek", but hang around on this fine forum and you will get an international flavor,
