Reno Chris Posted May 28, 2015 Author Share Posted May 28, 2015 I've found that window screen in a bunch of places. For some reason the desert old timers liked it - it was cheaper than a real window. One window screen, once rusted can break up and the wind will contaminate dozens of acres with little wires a quarter to a half inch long. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

mn90403 Posted May 29, 2015 Share Posted May 29, 2015 The first time I used my 7000 was on the beach. I didn't get the coil wet but I went over wet and dry areas of the beach. It wasn't so noisy that I couldn't use it but I have a 3030 and SE Pro with discrimination that I use. When I went to Northern Nevada it was mostly dry and my problem was not with the ground but going to an area that had gold that I could detect. fredmason Posted May 29, 2015 Share Posted May 29, 2015 I can't prove this but I think certain types of hearing loss may be a benefit to detecting-sometimes. My hearing is so acute that I can hear a few small rain drops hitting my akubra hat...the point being I hear every little sound.
