Have White MX Sport Problems Been Fixed?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, new member here , First off all, English is not my 1st language, learnt it through online gaming and professor google translator.

OK I'm from Malaysia and I would like to buy the MX sports. After doing some research, its seems that the detector has some problem that need to be rectify via sending back to factory. This will be a problem for me if I needed to send the detector back to US, money and time wise. I read from various, sites and forum that some of the detectors are going great but some or not due to the software and crack issues.

In other word, Is there any guarantee that I will get the latest version of the detector if I buy now or should I wait?

Hope forumers understand on what I'm talking about. I try to explain more as best as I could if needed. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

The only way I know to be sure you are getting the latest version of the MX Sport is to buy one direct from the factory. People appear to be happy with the latest version. Buying a used MX Sport could easily get you one with problems that would require a return to the factory. Even buying one from a dealer could present a problem since you have no idea how long the dealer has had the unit on the shelf.

Hi Fishersari

Steve told you what's best on buying MX Sport and I'll tell you what a great buy you're going to make.

I see you be the lucky one being you didn't have to ride the trouble out like I and others did. I have all three coils White's make for the MX Sport and everyone was talking about how great Detech coils are on the MXS. Well it wasn't but one way I'd ever know so I put money down for the 7 in.DD coil.

I don't know if you remember when you were a kid and you'd get a new toy but get sick about the same time. The kid is bigger now but it still happen about the same time my Detech coil came in. I really after all that waiting just got out to hunt this old place that I'd call trash city and yet my MX Sport picked out three coins among all that trash. I found this little 7 in.DD coil has great depth and does a great job in a high trash area.

I could sit here telling you just how great the MX Sport is. But that would take all the fun of you finding out for yourself. I say one thing and that is you will have your first fun day when you buy it plus more to come as time goes by.

The Best to You

Chuck

Hot Dog Tom you are on the ball ! You were always there when I was in need and I'm glad your here too for others when in need.

I think we have a one on one with more Detector Companies than other forums do.

I don't think I need to say more.

They are a brand new distributor - we have only shipped them the latest units.

The thing about forums is that people go to them when they have a problem. Then, when the problem is fixed, they are too busy enjoying the product to bother posting anything but finds...

Generally speaking "no news is good news" if people are buying your product and not returning it. But it is good to see solid reports from the field every once in a while. I keep my eye on the big MD forums, and the MX Sport is racking up a lot of kudos and finds. A quick search on findmall or other spots will show what I mean...

Shelton I don't speak Polish, but I do speak detectorspeak and I would agree with you that your MXS has a problem. With a display such as that one would not know anything except beep and dig. Hope you get it fixed.

I was in a bookstore and pick up a copy of Western & Eastern Treasure mag. I flipped over to the inside of the front page and low & behold was a big blow up of the MX Sport. You may say what the big deal being I have one. What put me in a state of shock Is when I read Waterproof Headphones Included.
The price is the same as it always been. All I can say is people is if you’re looking for a great buy look no further. Look down in the left hand corner of the picture at the number of coils that White’s offer for the Sport.

The furor over the White's MX Sport seems to be gathering force on other forums but has long since been old news on this forum. As such it has run out of steam and I prefer no more threads be started over the problems with the MX Sport. For those who wish to keep going round and round about the issues with the MX Sport there are two threads currently running at http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/white-s/509514-mx-sport-trouble.html and http://www.dankowskidetectors.com/discussions/read.php?2,109780
My advice is simple. If you do not have an MX Sport there is no rush to get one until there is some way to clearly tell what it is exactly that you are buying. There are various versions of the machine in the distributor and dealer pipeline, and apparently nobody can tell if a machine in a box has the latest version of the firmware AND that it has a face plate that is not going to crack in the first year or two. And frankly, in my opinion the latest version of the firmware is not likely to be the last.
      OFFICIAL WHITE'S RESPONSE TO ISSUES 7/20/16 - http://forums.whiteselectronics.com/showthread.php?76138-MX-Sport-Screen-inspection
"If your SAT goes to "EIGHT" and you "DO NOT" have any cracks in the clear part of the display, DO NOT send it in for updating.

If your SAT only goes to (6), and/or... you "do have" cracks in your display, DO send it in for updating.

As mentioned prior, the serial number sequence will not tell a person if it needs to be updated, nor if display cracks are possible.

We are sorry for all this and are working hard to resolve any and all issues as quickly as possible.

      Again,

"EIGHT" SAT, no cracks, NO need for updating.

      (6) SAT, and/or cracks, DO send it in for updating."
ACCORDING TO INFORMATION ON THE THREAD THERE IS NO WAY TO DETERMINE VISUALLY OR VIA SERIAL NUMBER WHETHER THE SCREEN WILL CRACK BEFORE HAND.

If for any reason anyone believes they have ANY issue with an MX Sport that they think should be taken care of under warranty, then contact White's directly and get it resolved to your satisfaction. Or get a refund for the unit if you can. Or sell it and move on. I have.

An error in VDI number and quarter/dime reporting has been noted in the early version of the new 6” concentric coil for the White’s MX series. I can’t imagine not digging anything reading in this range anyway, but it is something to be aware of. If nothing else it could affect resale value on the coils so if you have one and this is a problem it can be addressed under warranty once a fix is applied. Stay tuned.

Like said when I turn on my Sport I get this frying sound for about 1 1/2 seconds..When I turn off the volume all the way I still get the frying sound coming through. I have other coils but this my first time of hearing this.
If anyone else has this new concentric 6” please let me know if you too having the same trouble.
I’m really not sure if it is trouble being the coil is working great.

There are times when 6" is more than enough. I could take those jokes further but this is a family forum.

P.S. - Sorry this took so long Chuck. Been out of the office a lot lately.

I have recently acquired a used MX sport.Looking for coil recommendations. I mostly detect fields, wooded areas and cellar holes during the short North East USA season. The beach (ocean) is the only option during the winter so I do make it out a couple times a month.
The coils I see for sale are 7" DD, 9.5" Cons, 6x10 DD, 12x10 DD, 13 ultimate DD and the 15x12 DD
      Thanks, FWest
