  2. This test is very demanding...because this game involves more factors and parameters of the given detector.. The most important parameters are 1. coil size, 2. used frequency, 3. used detector discrimination, 4. used level of recovery sped, 5. silencer setting - iron bias, 6. use of audio profile type. Another important factor is the quality of the detector's discrimination, because not every detector can eliminate the falsification of the signal due to such a dense occupation of the surface by old wrought iron, for example, as is the case with the detector Golden mask, ORX, Deus 1/if you use the audio profile 2,3,4 tones. .or a 5-tone audio profile..where falsification on iron is very evident - and where only the Fulltone or Pitch audio profile works well. Of course, the good results in testing need to be verified with detections in the field... which I am doing...
  3. Since I have free time on Sunday, I decided to do a test of the Garrett ATX PI detector on a 25 kg bag of 97% magnetite...on a nickel coin. /1zloty PL/., how to check again... which ATX setting will work best on such an extremely high - perhaps the highest mineralization... that we can encounter.. After a short trial of various settings for the ATX, it turned out to be optimal to set the discrimination / time / at least to the value 5, which turned out to be stable even on such mineralized material if the magnetite is 97%.. sensitivity to 8, threshold to 12-13, and volume on the 13th With such a setting, the ATX can detect a nickel coin through a 10 cm thick layer of 97% magnetite, plus it gives a good signal at a height of up to 15 cm above the bag of magnetite... I think it's a really good result... To compare the strength of the mineralization, he took the Minelab Equinox 800... set in the Beach Program at sensitivity 15... where it can be seen that the Equinox 800 is already at the height of the coil 20 cm above the bag with 97% magnetite... it switches to the reduced TX mode... But even in such a case, you cannot work stably above such a concentration of magnetite.. if you would like to sweep with a coil lower than magnetite....

  5. Got an old sd2100 if the battery warning light is flashing is it normal to have no sound coming from headphones with coil movement etc thanks
  6. And here, another one who does the same. I use M8 when I want to search for what no one can find due to separation and sensitivity, and the M15 when I search for what others cannot detect due to depth. M11 only when I am going to detect a new place that I have no idea how it will turn out.
  7. Hey Doc, they are an excellent looking bit of kit. You say expensive but I thought at $1,000 (I assume British pound so about Aus $1,800 and US about $1,250) they actually weren't too bad. If they can assist people to stay a couple of more years in a hobby they love then I'd say well worth it. @Steve Herschbach if you hadn't got your hips done a while back would this be something you would have considered? My mum has a dicky hip and if she was an avid bushwalker I think she would get one. I have actually sent this through to the physios at work to see if it is something they might be able to use. Clients with Motor Neurone type disorders might benefit as it may give them enough assisted strength to improve balance and endurance. Or very poor conditioned people post hip fractures/surgery, etc. Thanks for putting up the link Doc šŸ™
  8. Congratulations! We are happy for our new silver in da house...
  9. Love the silver... We also had some luck last week -->>
  10. But we know, he is into gold šŸ™‚
  11. I just bought a simplex lite for a 7 yr old. Impressive detector for the price. I think they are about $200. Simple to operate, but find small stuff. Adjustable down to 25 inches.
  12. I ran the Tarsacci a few hours this morning for the first time in several months. The plan was to see if any deep targets were left on the wet conductive areas of my Swim Park site that have been scraped by the dozer. Many spots are still so boggy you can barely walk on them. I did find a few things but nothing very good. The point was to use the strength of a detector for these conditions. While not a saltwater beach, it is surprising how conductive this ground is when wet. The Tarsacci can really shine here. I was able to run it almost flat out on 12 kHz with the big coil and it was very stable & smooth. I really enjoy using Mixed Mode and have learned that keeping the Disc @-30 so the low tone from the Disc channel comes in with the All Metal response really helps me judge the targets purity. It was nice to get back in the groove with this unique unit.
  13. The GP-3000 seems to handle up to 7.3v but I have never tried to push it farther than this even though I was told by an electrician that they our internally regulated and will supposedly shut down if over 8 something volts. He also said he would not want to tax this safety feature. I use a step down converter to regulate the voltages down to 7.2v and can run all SD/GP & GPX series detectors on this voltage using two 3.7v 18650 batteries in series or with more 18650 batteries run in parallel for a longer run time still providing the 7.2v output. Two 18650 batteries in series do charge up to 8.4v which is fine for the GPX series but like I said before I regulate them down 7.2v as I would not want to run 8.4v on the GP series unless someone could verify that its internal regulator capabilities and limits could handle this higher voltage.
  14. You can delete the line in custom discrimination mode menu?
  15. Maybe later on Minelab will sell Manticore with an option of 9" coil and the price with be much less than Manticore with 11" coil same like deus 2 marketing strategy. If Minelab sell the Manticore with 9" coil for I don't know maybe 1299 to 1399 I think they will sell a lot more.. I'm in the same boat with you man.. its has been a long time since I used my 11" coil
  16. Oh you have no idea what I have seen out in the field. A guy detecting with wife in tow carrying a full size shovel, a classifier, a gold pan, and a spaghetti strainer. Not a plastic scoop anywhere to be found. They had been detecting for three years and had never found a nugget. They do, however, apparently eat a lot of spaghetti on their outings. šŸ˜† Doc
  17. Interesting! Iā€™ve never understood the reason for putting a nugget/gold in oneā€™s mouth? I definitely wouldnā€™t do that with some of the ones I find that are encased in arsenopyrite.
  18. Good video! Iā€™m always amazed at the target recovery process of some of the ā€œprofessionalā€ nugget hunters.
  19. Well, this time I'll try to remain skeptical as much as I can especially cause specific accessories rarely sells after use and aren't always cost effective solutions. As for now with the M8 I still find thin and light stuff where dozens of others have been devastating the same spots. It happens continuously as a regular basis so that I stopped posting every piece at every session I do. And it happens that after I dig one single signal, an inch near in the same hole, another one sounds and another one again, not mixed. This means killer separation and even if i know I'm trading general depth and ground coverage, at a max level of 25 points with acceptable noise/signal ratio, I can live with it all the time...
  20. I went through this with my 11 year old grandson a couple years ago, I weighed all the options like the Mine Lab go find, and Nokta's first swing, and what I did instead of getting my grandson something that looked like a kids toy I went with the Nokta Simplex Plus, which is about the same as the three newer simplex models, the reason being the Simplex Plus was a detector he could actually grow into, the Simplex models all collapse down short enough that they can accommodate a young person or an adult, and they do not brake the bank for someone starting out detecting, if they wanted to go to a little more advanced detectors they could choose to move up to one of the two Score detectors Score and Double Score, my personal recommendation is to go with the Simplex Lite,Simplex BT or the Simplex Ultra, at the time when I purchased the Simplex Plus for my Grandson the other three simplex models were not available, my Grandson still uses his simplex Plus and loves the fact that I did not give him a detector that looks like a kids toy.
  21. I thank you for the reply. Everyone's ground is different, even within the same town. After checking the walkways with either the Vanquish or Simplex+, we'll bring out the Safari for a look-see.... I'm excited about having it because it'll add another dimension to our hobby. My son wasn't happy with the exaggerated halo-effect after last nights rain.. Said the machine was detecting half off from where the coil was. I simply asked him if he lowered sensitivity and re-balanced.. He said No, I said well there you have it. Tomorrow is another day. SF
  22. Its very close, the DD is center sensitive and mono is edge sensitive, down to a minimum that is more determined by the inherent pulse delay characteristics that the coil type. When I was running head to head in Australia, me with DD and other guys with mono, there was no real notable difference I saw on minimum size of gold recovered in the field with either coil. Main thing with the mono is you really need to focus on hunting with the nose, DD with the center. If I had to say one might have an edge it would be the DD as able to run about a notch higher in gain in bad ground than the mono. Bottom line which one I might use is determined more by the situation than one being better than the other on small gold. If nosing into the bottom of a bush or rock the nose/edge sensitivity of the mono gets the hot strip right up against that rock. The hot core DD FC has a built in standoff factor. If you prefer and are more comfortable with tiny nuggets hitting dead center of the coil, the DD is a more natural fit for people less used to mono coils. The mono is lighter and more fun to swing in steep uneven terrain.

  24. ML Go Find series starts at $123.00 for the GF22. Xterra Pro is $248.00
  25. Is there anything on the home Minelab website (i.e. the one in Australia) about this, in particular that it even exists? Increasingly it seems like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, and vice versa.
  26. Itā€™s best not to sit around waiting on something to hatch because itā€™s never going to get here when you think it should and who knows you may not like it when it does. Like Chase said it was three years after the naming before Legend got here. Legend is something of pass history and after three years it almost was . Itā€™s shown to be another great detector put out bye Nokta Makro and Iā€™m sure the two PIā€™s wonā€™t be disappointing either. Just keep on doing what your doing and one day it will be that day youā€™ve been looking for and I hope it makes all our dreams come true in what we think they should be. Night Night! Chuck
