I have some books I'd buy and recommend as gifts for geologists in the US, but they might be uninteresting for geologists elsewhere on planet Earth. 🙂 Often they might just want specialized information/books in specific areas or in specific subjects of study. So it might depend on their specific interests, and where they live/work/study.
